Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Past Secrets Uncovered

The night was heavy with quiet. Not the kind of silence that brings peace — but the kind that whispers secrets.

Jackim sat in his study, laptop open, eyes glued to a classified file just decrypted by BLACK ACE. The flicker of the monitor painted his face in shades of blue and suspicion.

Kelvin stood behind him, arms crossed, the tension in the air almost physical. "You sure you want to see this, bro?"

Jackim's voice was low, steady. "The System told me the truth about The Wheel is connected to my family. I've spent my whole life not knowing where I came from. Tonight, I find out."

Kelvin exhaled and nodded. "Alright, boss. Let's see what ghosts we're chasing."

The file opened with a soft click.

And then — the world shifted.

***

[TOP SECRET: THE WHEEL ORGANIZATION – INTERNAL RECORDS]

> Subject: Project Black Sun

Date: 2001

Status: Discontinued

"The Wheel's founders sought genetic and intellectual heirs. Two key members, Dr. Aaron Ochieng and Dr. Marlene Han, vanished after betraying the organization and stealing core data from the System Prototype."

"Their child—name redacted—was presumed lost during the Nairobi incident."

***

Kelvin's eyes widened. "Wait… Marlene Han? Isn't Victor Han the current chairman of The Wheel?"

Jackim's hand trembled slightly. He scrolled further, his heartbeat hammering in his ears.

The next page revealed a faded family photo.

A young man — barely in his thirties — smiling with a woman holding a baby.

The man's face was unmistakable.

It was his father.

Kelvin whispered, "Bro… that's you."

Jackim stared at the image — his mother's eyes, his father's smile. The people he'd barely remembered, now staring back from a file labeled "traitors."

He swallowed hard. "So The Wheel didn't just hate me for business… they've been hunting me since I was born."

***

A soft ping echoed in his mind.

> 💬 System Notification: "Main Storyline Unlocked — The Wheel Connection."

Task: "Uncover your family's full legacy."

Reward: Ancestral Map Fragment (1/4) — Location: Unknown

Jackim's eyes narrowed. "System, tell me — what is the Ancestral Map?"

> 💬 "The map leads to the original System Core. Your parents designed it. Only their heir can access it."

Kelvin's jaw dropped. "Wait — you mean your parents built the same system that's helping you now?"

"Not just built it," Jackim said slowly, piecing it together. "They stole it from The Wheel… and hid it before they disappeared."

A shiver ran through him. Suddenly, everything made sense — The Wheel's obsession, the assassination attempts, the hidden clues in his father's old watch.

It wasn't about money. It was about power — the kind that could control the world.

***

A message popped up on the encrypted BLACK ACE server.

Incoming Transmission: Unknown Sender.

Kelvin looked uneasy. "You sure about opening that?"

Jackim smirked faintly. "When have I ever been sure?"

He clicked.

A distorted voice filled the room. "So you finally found the file."

Jackim stiffened. "Who are you?"

"Someone who once owed your father a life," the voice said. "You're walking in dangerous territory, Jackim. The Wheel has been watching you since birth."

"Then tell me where my parents are."

The line crackled. "If they're alive, they're deeper in the shadows than you can imagine. But I can give you something."

A file uploaded automatically. Inside was a GPS coordinate — a remote area in Northern Kenya, labeled Archive Point 01.

Before Jackim could ask more, the line cut off.

***

Kelvin looked shaken. "Bro, this is insane. That's like… the middle of nowhere. Desert, no signal, no backup."

Jackim leaned back in his chair, expression unreadable. "That's where the truth always hides — in the middle of nowhere."

Kelvin gave him a sideways look. "You're not actually going there, right?"

Jackim smiled faintly. "Of course I am."

Kelvin groaned. "I knew it. You've officially gone main-character crazy."

Jackim laughed quietly. "You wouldn't follow me if I wasn't."

Kelvin sighed dramatically. "True. Let me grab my bulletproof vest. Again."

***

The following morning, the BLACK ACE convoy rolled out at dawn.

Three black SUVs tore down the dusty highway, engines growling like thunder.

Jackim sat in the lead car, window cracked open, the wind whipping through. He watched the rising sun — golden, defiant, endless.

Somewhere in that light, he imagined his parents watching.

He clenched his fist. "They built the System to protect. The Wheel turned it into a weapon. I'll finish what they started."

Kelvin turned down the volume of the blasting radio. "You know, for a billionaire genius, you pick the worst travel destinations."

Jackim smirked. "Next time I'll take you to Paris."

"Bro, I'm still waiting for my Acacia Hotel membership card."

"You're my vice-captain, not my girlfriend."

Kelvin feigned offense. "So disrespectful."

Even in danger, they found humor — maybe that's what kept them human.

***

Hours later, they reached the coordinates — an abandoned airstrip surrounded by red sand and broken hangars.

The System pinged softly.

> 💬 "Signal Match Detected — Ancestral Energy Signature Confirmed."

Jackim stepped out of the car. The wind howled through the open space.

As he walked forward, his father's watch — the one he'd kept since childhood — began to glow faintly.

Kelvin frowned. "Tell me that's normal."

Jackim didn't answer. He followed the pull — to a half-buried bunker entrance beneath a rusted aircraft wing.

He knelt, brushed away the sand, and revealed an old keypad. Without thinking, he pressed the digits engraved inside the watch: 0411 — his birthday.

A metallic click echoed. The door slid open.

"After you," Kelvin said nervously. "You're the main character, after all."

***

Inside the bunker, everything was frozen in time — dust-covered monitors, scattered papers, old tools.

And then, on a pedestal at the center, a strange glass cube shimmered faintly. Inside it, a map glowed — divided into four parts.

The Ancestral Map Fragment (1/4).

The System voice resonated softly in his mind.

> 💬 "Fragment acquired. Your father's work begins here."

Jackim reached out, touched the glass — and for a second, flashes filled his mind.

A woman's laughter. His father's hand guiding his. A voice saying, "Remember, son — never let them own you."

He gasped, stepping back. Kelvin caught him.

"You okay?"

Jackim nodded, breathing hard. "Yeah. Just… memories."

Kelvin looked at the glowing cube. "So, what now?"

Jackim's eyes hardened. "Now? We find the rest."

He pocketed the fragment as the System chimed again.

> 💬 "New Objective: Locate remaining fragments (2/4)."

Next Location: Hong Kong.

Kelvin groaned. "From deserts to skyscrapers. You ever consider a vacation?"

Jackim smiled. "This is my vacation."

That night, back in the villa, he stood by the window again. The city lights blinked below like a living thing — unaware of the war brewing in its shadows.

He touched his father's watch one last time.

"Dad," he whispered, "you built a system to change the world. I'll use it to protect it."

> 💬 "Mission Complete — Past Secrets Uncovered."

Reward: Ancestral Map Fragment (1/4) + System Level 4 Access.

As the System upgraded, a faint digital hum filled the air — like the sound of destiny rebooting.

And outside, lightning flashed across the horizon — a warning from the storm that was coming.

Jackim smiled faintly, whispering to himself,

"Let them come."
