Ray leaned back against the door, his breath coming out in uneven bursts. His heart was still hammering, but at least no one had come running like a horse gone wild at the sound of gunfire. For now, it was just him, the dead girl, the pistol, and the unfortunate blood-stained room.
He stepped away slowly, his bare feet sticking slightly to the wet wood. And without knowing why, Ray started wandering in the room like a dumbass. Wandering around won't give him a solution and that's a universal truth. His hands were still shaking, but his mind felt strangely clear.
Finally, he set upright the wooden chair that was lying on its side and sat down. He started running a trembling hand over his chest. The hole was there, but now the skin was smooth. He pressed harder but felt no pain and no trace of blood. Only the faint trace of something cold beneath the surface.
He stared at his hands. His hair fell into his eyes but he brushed it back. He was staring at his reflection in the mirror. And to be honest, he didn't look like someone who had been shot. A good looking, youthful, innocent guy was right there.
After some time, he stood again and started moving toward the wooden table in the center of the room, pressed against the wall.
His eyes stayed fixed on it, like it was calling him. The dead girl's reflection stared from the floor as he passed, but he didn't even look at her.
He didn't even know what he was thinking but Ray climbed onto the table slowly. His bare feet slipped slightly on the polished wood. He stood there.
He crouched, ready to jump like a madman and then, a split second before he pushed himself off, something made him stop.
He stood there. And after some time he came down. He thought jumping would make a loud noise and the neighbors might wake up from that. But in the first place, why would someone jump from a table, especially when you're 19.
He didn't know what to do, he was completely dumb and blank at that moment.
Then suddenly...
Knock!! Knock!!
The sound froze Ray in that place. His head snapped toward the door and his heart leaped into his throat.
His mind spun wildly. He stepped backward, his shaky legs were searching for somewhere to hide, but the room was not too big. The room was filled with table, chair, bed, closet, hangers and other household materials.
His breath quickened. "What do I do? What do I do?" he whispered under his breath.
Then...
CREAKKK!!!!
The door opened a crack on its own. Ray's pulse hammered, it's like the air thickening itself.
And then, she entered.
A girl about his age entered the room. Her steps were so soundless, after entering the room she closed the door behind her with deliberate care, as if she was afraid someone outside might notice. Her black hair framed her face in perfect waves, her features were sharp. She was breathtakingly beautiful. But what caught Ray most were her eyes.
Her eye colour was grey and clear as storm clouds, grey eye colour was very rare. They seemed to look right through him.
She wore a Victorian dress and it was completely normal according to the world where Adrian got transmigrated.
Ray's throat suddenly went dry. He stumbled back until his leg hit the chair behind him. His lips parted, but no words came out.
The girl's name was Rose. As appearance as name. Beautiful.
She looked at the dead body then at the pistol and finally at last she looked at ray.
"What just... You... Killed" She said these words to herself, more like she wasn't questioning Ray.
Ray trembled, "wait.. wait... I didn't mean to... I don't know how—" but before Ray could finish his sentence, rose took steps towards him. And, she did what Ray could never think of.
She hugged Ray gently, Ray didn't know what just happened but he was trying to live that moment. "It's okay... Everything will be alright." These words sat in Ray's ear just like concrete bricks.
She hugged Ray more gently. She was trying to give him courage. After a while she pulled herself back and Ray was just looking towards her like an innocent cow.
"Look. I know it's difficult but, we need to clean the room and remove the dead body." She said calmly but fragments of tension were clearly visible in her tone.
Her name was Rose. And that beautiful girl was girlfriend of Ray. She was the princess of the city and she was the youngest daughter of Ereth family, widely known as the richest family of city. No idea how she ended up with a normal person like Ray.
Ray must have had some tricks up his sleeve.
Ray kept looking towards her. Of course not in love because that situation wasn't romantic at all. He was looking in confused way. "Who's she...?" This thought flooded his mind.
"Suitcase... Do you've a suitcase?" She asked, but Ray's dumb brain couldn't process it fast.
"Huh?" Ray replied her like a toddler.
Rose looked at Ray, then without a word, she walked over to the bed and knelt in front of it. She pulled a suitcase from beneath the bed. It was a pretty long and black suitcase. It could easily accommodate a body.
"I've to change my clothes at first, i ain't gonna ruin my this dress" she said. "You've extra t shirt and pant, right?"
Finally Ray's brain processed what Rose said. "Yeah...there should be... Some.." he looked around him for a wardrobe or clothes hanger.
There was a clothe hanger at the end of the wall and some t shirt and pants were hanging on it. Those were in Victorian style but not complete like Rose's. Ofcourse Ray also had some complete clothes, not just some regular t shirts and pants. But those were in a wardrobe which was in bathroom.
Rose looked at the hanger and exhaled sharply. Then her hand went to the buttons of her high necked, burgundy colored blouse.
Ray's brain was already struggling to process the dead body and this strange girl's sudden appearance, short-circuited him completely. Rose undid the buttons one by one normally and then she removed the clothes from her shoulders and placed it neatly on the bed.
Then, her hands went to the fastening of her skirt. The skirt pooled at her feet. Now, her lower body was completely naked. Ray's eyes widened, He didn't know what the fuck was going on, he looked at her bare thighs and the delicate chemise she was wearing.
Gulp
He swallowed hard, the sound was surely loud in that tense silence.
But she was definitely not done. She reached behind her back, her fingers were working deftly at the laces of her corset. Finally, after a last tug the garment fell away.
Now, she stood completely naked in the middle of the room, the flickering gaslight tracing the lines of her body.
Ray was completely shocked and anyone would be. Rose's breasts were clearly visible. Her pink nipples stung Ray's eyes like nails. From top to bottom, she was completely naked. But, she didn't look at Ray, she was completely unbothered by her own nudity.
"What the fuckk..." Ray whispered these words to himself, he was completely nervous.
Without even looking at Ray, she walked calmly over to the clothes hanger.
She selected a simple t-shirt and a pair of trousers, pulling them on.
As she dressed in his clothes, she finally spoke, her voice was completely normal. "Don't just stand there. Start wiping down the pistol."
"Huh?. Huh ... Yeah umm..." He said nervously. He started moving but where he was supposed to go. He don't know where the bathroom was, where was the water. There was a door at corner. It was likely a bathroom's door.
"I didn't know you'd kill your own sister but it's ok, Ray." Rose said while looking toward the dead girl.
Ray's eyes widened. "My-my what...?" he realized the girl Ray killed was his own sister. Now, He was scared again. He looked at the dead body.
"Why would someone kill his own sister?" These thoughts rolled in his mind.
