Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

[Every 100 Power Stones = 1 Bonus Chapter]

"Perfect match…"

Perfect match where?

Watching the two behind the bar chatting and laughing, Mira's smile was radiant; Levy could even see the faint blush on her petite earlobes.

Could it be that Mira-nee also likes Roland?

Thinking of Cana not long ago, and now Mira again, Levy sighed tiredly.

Why are all of you… fixated on him!

Levy admitted Roland's charm was huge—after all, she herself was irresistibly drawn to him and fell in love at first sight.

But it can't be so huge that he attracts every single woman—that's no different from charm magic, is it?

Thinking that, Levy stomped her foot in annoyance.

"Uh… Levy, you okay?"

Hearing the commotion beside him, Reedus slowly turned his head. Seeing the flustered blue-haired girl, he scratched his head and asked kindly.

"Ah, sorry… I just thought of something unpleasant."

Levy gave an awkward laugh and waved it off. After a deep breath, she quickly walked to Roland's side.

So what if many people like Roland? His first kiss was hers—in other words, she was already ahead at the starting line.

"Roland!"

At the sound of the familiar voice, the cute blue-haired girl sat across from Roland, cradling her juice, her eyes staring at him with a faint grievance.

Noticing Levy's gaze, Roland didn't even need to think to know why.

"Is the Shadow Gear matter all settled?"

Roland reached out and rubbed her head twice, smiling lightly. "Just in time—I also found a few good requests. Tomorrow the two of us will go out on a job."

"Mm… okay!"

Though being patted in the guild felt embarrassing, Levy didn't dodge. Instead, she lifted her head and looked him straight in the eye, her cheeks reddening as she nodded.

Surprisingly easy to resolve…

Watching the smile gradually return to the girl's face, Roland couldn't help thinking so.

"My my, you two have gotten close, haven't you?"

Seeing their affectionate interaction, Mira blinked in surprise.

It's only been two days, yet they look like a couple newly in love.

Although she normally enjoyed seeing guild romances blossom, this time—for some reason—there was a strange feeling in her chest.

It felt like they didn't quite fit.

Suppressing the odd flutter, Mira kept her usual smile and said, very much against her true feelings, "Levy-chan and Roland look very good together."

"Mira-neesan…"

Hearing her gentle voice, Levy felt a twinge of guilt.

Mira-neesan was working so hard to push her and Roland together, and yet she was over there treating Mira as a rival…

Suddenly—

A strong wave of drowsiness washed over her. Levy's vision blurred, her eyelids drooped, and with a soft thud she slumped over the table and fell asleep.

"Strange, I got so sleepy all of a sudden."

"This feeling…"

"Mystogan must be back, right?"

The bustling guild hall fell one by one: some flopped over the tables snoring, others sprawled atop wooden barrels…

Natsu even dove face-first into a bowl of devil-spicy curry.

"Don't worry, it just means a comrade of the guild is back—"

Swaying a little, Mira fought the drowsiness as she tried to explain.

Before she could finish, she went limp and collapsed into Roland's arms.

A clean, faint floral scent rose from her hair. Feeling the voluptuous barmaid against him, Roland's heartbeat quickened.

"Mystogan, huh?"

Taking a breath, Roland lifted his eyes to the guild doors.

Sometime, they had eased open. A man in a black headscarf and black cloak, his face wrapped in a veil, walked in at a measured pace.

The Edolas counterpart of Jellal, and the prince of that parallel world.

If he remembered right, Mira-neesan's little sister was in that world.

Looking down at Mira's quiet, gentle sleeping face, Roland poked her cheek twice—surprisingly nice to the touch.

"You always make such a big scene every time you come," came the master's helpless voice from the second floor, drawing both of their eyes upward.

If he hadn't suddenly felt his consciousness blur while writing punishments, he wouldn't have known Mystogan had returned.

However—

"As expected, you're fine too."

Makarov sat cross-legged on the railing, eyes on the only other person still standing—Roland—with a look that said he'd long expected it.

With such powerful magic in his body, it wasn't strange he could resist the sleep spell.

"There's… someone else?"

Mystogan paused, surprise flashing in the eyes beneath his scarf.

Normally only the master and Laxus could shrug off the spell of sleep, and now there was a new face…

"He joined just yesterday," Makarov said naturally, his old yet spirited voice introducing him. "His name is Roland."

A newbie?

Mystogan's steps faltered for a moment, then he continued to the request board, picked a job sheet, raised it toward the master as a sign, and turned to leave without lingering.

"Hold on, aren't you going to lift the sleep spell?"

Makarov covered a yawn.

"I'll undo it in a moment."

The instant Mystogan stepped out of the guild, everyone inside began to stir awake.

Noise quickly replaced the stillness.

"It's that guy again…"

Macao rubbed his aching head and sighed helplessly.

"Yeah, his Suimin Mahō (Sleep Magic) is still as over-the-top as ever."

"Cough—cough—so hot, so hot!!"

Waking from the devil-spicy curry, Natsu's face was blazing red, tongues of flame puffing from his throat.

"Nn…"

Mira also came to. She blinked groggily, and the first thing she saw was Roland wearing his black-rimmed glasses.

She froze for a moment, then, almost without thinking, took the glasses off his face, revealing the tear-mole at the corner of his eye.

After two seconds of staring, her face turned unnaturally red. She averted her gaze and handed the glasses back.

"…It suits you better with the glasses on."

"…"
