Chapter 5 - Just a Streamer! - 5

Two days later.

The livestream account on that little crappy video site and the mainland server mobile game account were finally in her hands.

The mobile game account was easy to buy; even on Japanese e-commerce platforms where League of Legends wasn't super popular, there were plenty available.

Though buying a game account on an e-commerce site meant there was always a risk it could be reclaimed by the original owner at any time.

She didn't care much about the rank or stuff like that. The main thing was, Barbatos really preferred how the game felt to play after unlocking skins—a point on which she was completely different from Faker.

If the account got reclaimed right after she bought skins for it, she'd be so mad she'd probably want to give the seller a good kick with her hoof.

'The new rising star of livestreaming, Barbatos, is about to shine!'

Barbatos pumped herself up with a burst of energy, put her phone down, and headed back into her bedroom.

Her room was pretty simple, lacking the carefully decorated feel typical of a girl's private space.

Before all this, she'd just been a Uma Musume single-mindedly focused on getting into Tracen Academy.

Logically speaking, their entire race was basically born with a desire to run, to enjoy the feeling of sprinting. Even she, a transmigrator, was starting to feel that itch after more than ten days without a proper run.

'Maybe buy a treadmill?'

Because Uma Musume existed, people all over the world, after watching their races, got the urge to run themselves. Of course, most would be panting like bulls after just a few minutes, thinking it was better to just watch the races.

Even so, the treadmill industry was booming. Compared to the expensive prices in her previous life, treadmills now were not only cheaper but also way better in performance.

It was even cheaper than getting a bare-minimum spec computer that could run the PC version of League of Legends without lagging.

Mind made up, she reached into her pocket, planning to use the last bit of her living expenses to buy a treadmill first. Because of her "fracture," she couldn't go outside to run, but getting a treadmill to "scratch the itch" at home was still doable.

Once she started her streaming journey, it wasn't about making buckets of money immediately, but she could easily manage by sweet-talking a few people into becoming channel members to help her rank up, or taking on paid leveling jobs.

'Where's my phone?'

'Huh, where did I put it?'

She patted both pockets but couldn't find her phone. She did another lap around the bedroom, checking everywhere, but still no phone.

Relying on her last memory of holding it, she walked out of the bedroom and then saw her phone right where she'd left it on the table earlier.

Barbatos: '…'

She glanced at the phone's location, then turned back into her room. Thank goodness she hadn't been holding the phone while searching for it earlier.

It just went to show that Uma Musume weren't really that different from humans deep down—except they were stronger on their feet by, well, a tiny bit.

She'd heard that people who wanted to become trainers needed to have seriously tough physiques, otherwise they could easily get accidentally kicked to death by a Uma Musume. She wondered if Professor Luo Xiang in this world had ever discussed how the law would treat a case where a Uma Musume accidentally kicked a trainer to death.

(T/N: Luo Xiang is a popular Chinese jurist. He serves as professor of law and director of the Institute of Criminal Law at the China University of Political Science and Law. He is also a lawyer with his field of study centered on criminal justice and sex crimes.)

Thinking this, she reached out and opened the wardrobe. There weren't many clothes inside, nothing compared to the wardrobe of someone like "Tear Lady."

After all, once you successfully entered Tracen Academy, you'd get a uniform. After your debut race, you'd get a "winning outfit," and for winning races and appearing on stage, you'd need stage costumes. So, normally, a Uma Musume's wardrobe wouldn't be overflowing with everyday clothes.

Barbatos casually picked out an outfit from the wardrobe.

Because of the "fracture" in her left leg, taking a proper shower was tricky. She could only manage by wiping herself down with warm water.

The fracture had actually healed thanks to [Heal], but it was still in a cast. The absolutely crucial rule, emphasized by the doctor at the hospital, was that the cast must not get wet.

She was about to become a glorious, "China-loving," "Japanese" Uma Musume, high-skill League of Legends streamer. She still needed to observe the ritual of cleansing herself and changing clothes beforehand.

It was just a shame she couldn't take a proper bath, only use a wet towel.

In Japan, most places had bathtubs installed. Compared to just a shower, having a tub was the real deal for relaxation. It's just that she'd only gotten to enjoy it for a few days before her leg ended up broken.

'I love taking a bath, makes my skin so nice~'

Humming a little tune, she took off her clothes and started wiping herself down with the towel.

Fifteen minutes later, Barbatos came out, drying her hair. She wore a loose top that hung baggy on her upper body. Since she was at home, she hadn't bothered with a skirt or shorts downstairs; the hem of the top was just long enough to cover the essentials.

Her bare legs were exposed to the air, with a subtle muscularity that hinted they weren't quite like a human girl's.

They weren't skinny like bamboo poles; actually, they had some resemblance to the legs of Rikka Takarada from SSSS.GRIDMAN.

She walked over to the full-length mirror, did a little spin, struck a few suitable chuunibyou poses, and fiddled with her pigtails, which had come undone while she washed her hair.

In her previous life, she'd been a guy. Now, having transmigrated into a Uma Musume, it was kinda inevitable she'd enjoy messing around in front of the mirror, striking cute girl poses. She remembered spending ages doing just that the day after she first arrived.

Now, she'd more or less gotten somewhat used to the fact that she was a cute Uma Musume girl. Even the whole sitting-down-to-pee thing had become second nature through practice.

You could only say, being able to adapt in just over half a month, humans—or former humans—were truly terrifying creatures.

Even with the cast on her left leg, Barbatos moved quite nimbly over to the table and picked up her phone.

She didn't go straight to the livestreaming function. Instead, she opened an e-commerce app and started searching for treadmills.

Even though she enjoyed playing League of Legends, and playing League could even make her run faster, at her core, she was still a Uma Musume. In her bones, she yearned more for running—especially after going a full fortnight without it.

Just the thought of being able to run on a treadmill soon, without having to wait for the Tracen entrance exams a month and a half away, made her legs feel downright twitchy with anticipation.

The e-commerce platform had a huge variety of treadmills, some designed for humans, others for Uma Musume.

The ones for Uma Musume tended to be more expensive, as they needed to withstand much greater forces, capable of handling running speeds comparable to cars.

Not many Uma Musume actually bought treadmills, though. They usually needed to adapt to actual tracks and preferred running outdoors on solid ground.

Looking at the dazzling array of treadmills on her phone, Barbatos quickly settled on one.

It could adjust the incline, supported full-speed running for most Uma Musume, and offered free shipping with same-day delivery.

She checked the price: 23,000 yen. It was within her budget, roughly equivalent to about 1,200 RMB. From Barbatos's perspective in her previous life, that was incredibly cheap.

As for a computer, the minimum specs needed to stream and play the PC version of League without lag would cost at least 58,000 yen.

After placing the order for the treadmill, Barbatos opened the livestreaming app for that little crappy video site.
