Chapter 4 - I am not what you think

"Clara blinked, confusion clouding her features. 'But... why?' she asked, her voice laced with disappointment. He turned away, his jaw clenched. 'Because,' he said, his voice low and dangerous, 'you don't want to know what I'm capable of.'He stepped back into the rain, the cold a welcome distraction from the heat that was building inside him. He couldn't stay there, not with her. He needed to escape, to regain control before he did something he would regret. Or, perhaps, something he would relish. Clara watched him go, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't understand him, but she couldn't deny the pull she felt towards him. There was a darkness there, a pain that resonated with something deep within her. And despite his warning, she found herself wanting to know more. As he disappeared into the rain-soaked streets, she whispered to herself, 'I think... I think I already do.'She clutched the book to her chest, a newfound determination hardening her gaze. She wouldn't let him push her away. She would find him again. She had to. Because something told her that her life had just changed forever."
