Chapter 140 - Bibi Dong Bathing, the Strange Little Town

As the questioning words escaped her lips, an endless look of contemplation filled Bibi Dong's beautiful eyes.

Inside the wooden tub, snow-white skin as smooth and lustrous as silk was submerged in the water. Wine-red hair rose and fell in natural curves, water droplets clinging to it as they scattered and adhered to her perfectly contoured, voluptuous body, her proud assets standing tall to the extreme.

"Splash!"

The tall, peerless beauty stirred up a spray of water as she lifted her flawless legs and stepped out of the wooden tub, walking gracefully. Holding a golden, soft bath towel, she wiped her hair, yet the doubt in her heart only deepened.

"This isn't the first time already, is it?" Bibi Dong thought to herself.

Long ago, she had noticed a detail: clearly, her body was clean when she went to sleep at night, yet when she woke up, there would always be faint traces of sweat, and her body would subtly carry a sense of fatigue.

As Bibi Dong pondered, her pair of long, exquisitely beautiful phoenix eyes changed, becoming deep and unfathomable.

Tianshui City.

Su Yaoyun did not enter through the main gate. Using her spiritual power to form a barrier, she brought the Three-Eyed Golden Beast along and stealthily returned to the academy.

"Bang."

She flung the unconscious Three-Eyed Golden Beast straight into Shen Linghan's room.

At this moment, Shen Linghan—currently disguised as an old woman—was sitting with her eyes closed, regulating her breathing. Seeing the soul beast tossed onto the floor by Su Yaoyun, she opened her eyes in astonishment and asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"

Su Yaoyun replied, "You recognize this thing, right? Aren't you about to undergo your tribulation? I'm lending it to you for now. You can return it to me later—I'm planning to give it to someone."

Shen Linghan naturally recognized the Imperial Auspicious Beast and also understood its effects. Shocked, she asked, "Where did you get this thing?"

Su Yaoyun said with lingering fear, "Don't ask. I nearly paid myself in full just to bring this thing back."

"What happened?" Shen Linghan noticed Su Yaoyun's disheveled clothes and unstable aura. Her blue, ice-crystal-like eyes shot out a cold light.

Su Yaoyun waved her hand. "I'll tell you in detail another time when I have the chance. I'm leaving first. Watch this soul beast carefully—don't lose it. I've already reserved its soul ring and soul bone."

Before Shen Linghan could respond, Su Yaoyun's figure had already vanished from the room.

"What is that woman up to, rushing around like this?" A clear, cold, and elegant voice echoed in the room, filled with doubt.

After leaving Shen Linghan's room, Su Yaoyun hurried straight toward Luo Yu's residence, her heart eager to return. However, she found the door wide open and the place deserted—the man was nowhere to be found.

"Hm? Where is he? He's not here?"

The expectant joy on Su Yaoyun's face instantly vanished. A heavy sense of loss appeared in her beautiful eyes, and a soft, resentful, and alluring voice rang out.

"Where did that little man run off to early in the morning? I miss you so much…"

At this moment, Luo Yu was wandering aimlessly through the wilderness.

Looking around, all he saw was desolation—nothing but weeds everywhere. There were no official roads, no sign of people, and no way to tell directions at all.

He raised his head and looked at the cloudless blue sky. The handsome corners of Luo Yu's mouth couldn't help but twitch. Open land stretched in all directions, without even a single landmark. Where exactly was he supposed to go?

Last night, he had followed the fluctuations from the battle without thinking. How could he possibly remember the way back?

Even if he could somehow tell east from west, he still had no idea where he currently was.

"Forget it. Who knows which way I'm supposed to go."

"I'll just pick a direction and keep walking. I'm bound to run into a town eventually. Then I'll buy a map and hire a carriage—no matter what, I'll be able to get home."

Luo Yu said optimistically, casually choosing a direction and moving forward at speed.

Half a day later.

"Why does this place feel more and more desolate the farther I go?"

Luo Yu felt like he had hit the jackpot—only it was the getting lost jackpot.

At his current traveling speed, an ordinary carriage wouldn't even be able to keep up with him. Yet after walking most of the day, he still hadn't seen the shadow of a town. The odds of that were absurdly low.

"Aren't you supposed to run into bandits while walking through the wilderness? Hurry up and come rob me already."

"If you don't show up, how are we supposed to have a story?"

"Someone give me directions!"

Stepping on the gravel beneath his feet, Luo Yu couldn't stop complaining.

Being lost felt awful. More importantly, his stomach had started to protest. Having stayed in Tianshui for so long, he had never suffered like this—every day, girls would prepare delicious meals and bring them right to him.

The scenery grew increasingly barren, and he began considering changing direction. Yet Luo Yu hesitated—what if, after another two or three li, he'd reach a village? Changing direction now might mean walking another half day for nothing.

As evening approached, night fell, and starlight spread across the land.

Luo Yu's eyes had turned red—not because he wanted to cry, but from anger. He had walked all day and was certain he'd been moving straight, yet he still hadn't even seen a trace of a village. That was just outrageous.

"Even if town development on the Douluo Continent isn't very dense, it can't be this bad, right?"

Cold winds swept through the mountains. Luo Yu licked his lips—they felt dry. His tall, upright figure looked somewhat bleak and desolate under the evening breeze.

"I just went and did a good deed. How come there's no good karma at all? I've got it way too rough."

The terrain ahead gradually rose. Just as Luo Yu was about to abandon the idea of going straight and prepare to change direction, something suddenly appeared far in the distance—a small town, faintly visible.

"Hm?"

Joy instantly appeared on Luo Yu's face. Thinking of his protesting stomach already beating drums and ringing bells, he immediately circulated his soul power and shot toward the town.

Soon, he entered the town.

The moment he stepped inside, before Luo Yu could even look for a restaurant to eat his fill, he sensed a strange, eerie aura. The people on the surrounding streets were all gaunt and emaciated, their faces ferocious, carrying a chilling coldness.

"Strange. Why can't I see a single old person or child here? And there aren't even any stalls or shops open?"

Luo Yu walked up to a bearded middle-aged man and asked, "Hello, may I ask what area this is? Which country does it belong to?"

The man's eyes were dull. Upon hearing Luo Yu's words, he clearly froze for a moment, then cast an extremely strange glance at him, said nothing, and walked away.

After asking several people in succession, Luo Yu failed to get a single answer. But one thing was now certain—there was definitely something wrong with this place.

Following the street to its end, Luo Yu discovered a small tavern.

The tavern's signboard looked ancient, having weathered many years. It was extremely old and battered, swaying precariously in the cold wind, with the lettering already very blurry.

Luo Yu narrowed his eyes, focusing hard before he could barely make out a single character.

"Death?"

"What kind of nonsense is this? What tavern names itself with the word 'death'? Do they even want to do business?"

"There's something really off about this place."

Since he was already here, he might as well stay.

Luo Yu had finally found a town—there was no way he was leaving now. Otherwise, who knew how long he'd have to keep wandering? He reached out and pushed open the wooden door.

As the dilapidated door creaked open with a "ga—zhi" sound, an extreme chill surged out from the gaps, rushing straight at him.
