Chapter 92: What Is on Myriad Fathoms Mountain
Before Myriad Fathoms Mountain.
Yuan Kong tore a strip of cloth from his sleeve and covered his eyes.
From the time he could understand things, Yuan Kong knew his eyes were different from others.
These eyes had brought Yuan Kong too much convenience, whether dealing with people or matters.
As long as Yuan Kong looked carefully, he would gain some insight in his heart.
Trusting Chu Xingchen about the Kālanāpā Buddhist Relics was also like this, because he understood Chen Baiqing.
He saw the trust in Chen Baiqing's eyes when he looked at Chu Xingchen.
For such a child to trust someone, it could only be achieved by sincerity for sincerity.
But it was also these eyes that were gradually causing him to lose something.
Myriad Fathoms Mountain was a case in point.
All things in the world cannot be completely seen through with a single pair of eyes.
Yuan Kong was intelligent, but his age was too low and he had experienced too few things. At first, he didn't realize it.
Now, thinking carefully, Yuan Kong suddenly understood—he had relied too much on these eyes.
Since the world is idealistic, one should trust the heart, not the eyes.
As the cloth was tied, Yuan Kong silently recited a Buddhist scripture, calming his state of mind.
He slowly stood up and staggered toward the empty Myriad Fathoms Mountain.
——————
Chu Xingchen's gaze fell upon Myriad Fathoms Mountain. At the foot of the mountain, a young śrāmaṇera, his eyes covered, was slowly climbing the cliff face.
Seeing this scene, Chu Xingchen glanced sideways at the unconscious Yuan Kong on the grass.
At this moment, a wisp of weak spiritual power connected the two.
Was it really so?
Li Yingling also noticed Yuan Kong climbing the mountain. His small body, on the rugged cliff, was ascending slowly with his eyes covered.
She asked with some concern: "Master, isn't this a bit dangerous for him?"
Chu Xingchen smiled gently: "Since Yuan Kong is working so hard, I, as his master, should naturally help him."
Li Yingling looked at her master with a curious expression.
"Let the great wind rise and the clouds fly forth!"
Chu Xingchen sent out a burst of spiritual power, directly blowing the unconscious Yuan Kong into the sky.
Yuan Kong wasn't stupid, but he lacked experience.
Myriad Fathoms Mountain was idealistic, so why was he still foolishly climbing it like that?
If the heart is ten thousand fathoms, the mountain is ten thousand fathoms.
If the heart is close at hand, the mountain is close at hand.
Since this foolish monk couldn't grasp it, he would help him along.
Yuan Kong, struggling to climb Myriad Fathoms Mountain, suddenly felt a great wind blow from below.
No matter how hard he gripped with both hands, he couldn't hold onto the cliff face and could only let the fierce wind blow him violently upward!
On Myriad Fathoms Mountain, Yuan Kong's limbs flailed about as he flew straight toward the peak at high speed.
Li Yingling couldn't hear Yuan Kong's wails, but she could see his small mouth moving constantly, his expression terrified as he flew upward.
This speed was indeed much faster than his climbing speed.
But after he had flown up only a third of the height, Chu Xingchen stopped blowing him, instead creating a spiritual power platform for him and tossing him onto it.
Immediately after, Li Yingling completely understood her master's intention.
As Yuan Kong's physical body fell from the platform, the floating Yuan Kong on Myriad Fathoms Mountain also crashed violently into the mountain.
However, as he fell from the platform, Myriad Fathoms Mountain suddenly transformed. When Yuan Kong tore the cloth from his eyes, the mountain had instantly become much shorter.
Yuan Kong instantly reached the summit of Myriad Fathoms Mountain.
Li Yingling nodded slowly. So that was how it was. Indeed, simply reading books could not solve all problems. Sometimes, seeing it with your own eyes led to a more tangible understanding.
Her master had just given her a vivid lesson at this very moment.
On the summit, Yuan Kong, his face full of shock, quickly tore off the cloth covering his eyes and rapidly scanned his surroundings, only to discover he had already reached the peak.
Whew!
This must be the Buddha secretly protecting this Buddha Son!
This gust of wind was truly timely. Although he was terrified, it was a good thing that everything was safe.
Yuan Kong climbed up from the ground and looked up at the Bodhisattva statue at the edge of the peak.
The Bodhisattva faced Yuan Kong, its back to the cliff, its expression devoid of joy or sorrow. Moreover, this statue was almost identical to the Guanyin head that Chu Xingchen had blasted from the riverbed.
The statue's hands were open and placed at its chest, as if holding something, but in reality, they were empty.
Yuan Kong scanned the area once more. After confirming there was nothing else on the peak, he walked with his short legs to the front of the Bodhisattva statue.
Yuan Kong solemnly put his palms together and bowed to the Bodhisattva statue, saying with sincerity:
"Great Being, this little monk, Yuan Kong, has come to beg for your treasure."
Li Yingling could only vaguely see a faint shadow of Yuan Kong and could not hear what he was saying.
But Chu Xingchen, using the power of his Nascent Soul, could hear. However, hearing this was worse than not hearing.
You're trying to beg alms from a dead person's fate?
And you're begging from your own Buddhist sect. If the Buddha heard this, wouldn't he give your little head a good knock?
Fortunately, Yuan Kong was just being polite. He quickly withdrew his hands and began to examine the Bodhisattva statue.
The Bodhisattva statue was quite large, several meters high.
It was the only seemingly useful thing on the peak.
The treasure hidden here was most likely related to this Bodhisattva statue.
Yuan Kong looked puzzled as he reached out and touched the statue, finding its texture very ordinary, just stone.
Next, Yuan Kong observed the Bodhisattva statue from all angles and perspectives.
He found nothing, but Yuan Kong was not in a hurry.
He sat cross-legged on the ground, gazing at the Bodhisattva statue, his eyes deep in thought.
Chu Xchen only glanced at it twice. If it were just a matter of artistic conception, he might have been able to use his brain, but given the current situation, this was likely a contingency left by this Bodhisattva.
The Buddhist sect probably also believed in not letting resources flow to outsiders.
This probably required some Buddhist methods and scriptures.
At this moment, they could only hope that Yuan Kong, as the Buddha Son, truly had some ability.
Li Yingling also clearly understood the situation and watched Yuan Kong think in silence.
Time passed slowly.
The seated Yuan Kong stood up with a joyful expression and bowed to the Bodhisattva statue once more.
He walked toward the Bodhisattva statue and, with a few steps, stepped onto the palm of its hand.
Yuan Kong lightly brushed his robes, then sat cross-legged in the center of the Bodhisattva's palms. He pointed his left hand to the sky and his right hand to the ground.
Closing his eyes, a Buddhist scripture instantly appeared in his mind.
Yuan Kong began to chant softly.
As Yuan Kong chanted the scripture, a pure white energy emerged from the Guanyin statue.
First, a pure white kasaya, like moonlight, slowly draped over Yuan Kong's body.
Next, a śarīra flew out from the statue's brow and hovered above Yuan Kong's head. Pale golden energy slowly flowed down, enveloping him.
As the scripture neared its end.
Myriad Fathoms Mountain began to dissolve from its base into a pale green stream of light, surging toward Yuan Kong.
After a short while, the entire Myriad Fathoms Mountain transformed into green light, slowly condensing into a new form.
It was a jade willow branch, vibrant and green.
It was completely transparent, with flowing light shimmering within, floating before Yuan Kong.
Although Myriad Fathoms Mountain had disappeared, the Bodhisattva statue remained suspended steadily in the air.
As if sensing something, Yuan Kong slowly reached forward and grasped the jade branch.
Boom!
The Bodhisattva statue rapidly transformed into a stream of light and dissipated.
