Chapter 5 - Ch 5 The Savage System and The Speechless Adrain

"Ugh…" Adrian held his head in pain as he fought against the intense headache hitting him, just as he finished going through the last bits of his memory.

"What is this pain… ahhh!"

Holding his head, Adrian yelped in pain as he felt like millions of ants were biting into his brain. That's how intense the pain was.

But before it could have any lasting effect, just as the pain had come, it suddenly went away. It had only remained for a couple of seconds, but that was more than enough for Adrian's forehead to be covered with layers of sweat, and even his back was the same.

"What the hell was that just now…?" Adrian muttered, fear visible on his face. That kind of pain was something he had never experienced before. It was practically hell, if he had to describe what kind of experience it was.

It took Adrian a couple of minutes before he recovered from what had just happened. Once again, he looked around at the place he was in, and the more he looked, the more familiar it felt.

This time around, it was almost as if he knew what this place was and where he had seen it before, but his memories were fuzzy. And the moment he tried to remember some of it, he was hit with the same kind of pain, something he now dared not trigger again.

But now he was stuck, having no idea what to even do.

Without thinking much, he walked toward the big, luxurious, intricately carved wooden table just beside the mysterious and overly luxurious pod that he had come out of. He wanted to sit down and try to think of something.

But before he had taken a couple of steps, the pod he had come out of suddenly made a sound.

Crack!

A crackling sound came from it, like glass makes before it shatters under pressure.

He hastily looked toward it and saw the luxurious pod bursting into millions and billions of small fragments. He quickly raised his hand, or at least he wanted to, but his body didn't react at all to this.

(It wasn't that his body didn't react. It was that it somehow felt there was no danger coming from the shards of jade-like fragments.)

The fragments that were about to collide with his body, right in front of his frightened eyes, suddenly stopped in mid-air. Before they transformed from a solid state into that of energy. And like they had exploded, they began gathering together, all the millions and billions of particles now in energy form.

Quickly forming into a glowing blue and white orb of light that twinkled like a star in the well-lit grand room.

Seeing that, Adrian was once again surprised, as he neither knew nor had any idea what had just happened.

"Umm… the pod exploded on its own, its shards turned from physical form into energy, and now it has become this? What even is this?" Adrian muttered, his voice full of surprise as he found it hard to believe what he was seeing.

But before his mind could wander too much, a new sound suddenly emerged around him, one that he heard very clearly.

Ding!!

And this sound that rang all around him caught him completely off guard.

"Huh… now what was that?"

Adrian quickly spun around and scanned the vast grand room, trying to find where the ding sound had originated from. But there was nothing he could point at, and more questions began to pile up in his mind as a result.

At that moment, he didn't pay much attention to the glowing ball floating not far from him…

Which suddenly shot toward him, and Adrian only had time to blink before it entered his brows and disappeared into his body.

"Wh–what the hell?!" he yelped as he quickly backed off.

But it was already too late for him to react, for what had to happen had already happened.

But before Adrian even had time to collect himself and understand what in the world was happening around him and to him… where he was and why he was here… where this strange familiarity was coming from… where that headache had come from… and now that ball of light created from the remains of the magnificent life pod had entered his brow…

Everything had only confused him more and more.

And the fact that he had no answers to any of it made it even more confusing for him.

Just then, a neon blue floating screen appeared in front of him, to his utter confusion and shock.

On it were written a few words that also rang inside his mind, so he had no need to even read them.
