Chapter 60 - The breaking point

It was a new day at the office.

Morning sunlight streamed through the large windows of Cassandra's office, casting long shadows across the polished floor. The city stretched out below, alive with the hum of traffic and the movement of people going about their lives.

But inside the office, the atmosphere was heavy.

Cassandra sat behind her desk, her laptop was open in front of her, and scattered across the desk were several printed documents, all marked with red annotations.

She had been reading for the past hour.

Her expression was unreadable, but her eyes were sharp, focused.

Davina had provided her with the information she requested. Everything about Betty Hale's death. And it was worse than Cassandra had imagined.

Cassandra leaned back in her chair, her fingers steepled beneath her chin as she reviewed the details one more time.
