Chapter 5 - chapter 5_one chance

She didn't say anything and stated eating when then waitress brought the food

Dinner went by quietly, with only the soft clinking of cutlery breaking the silence. Daisy barely touched her food; every few seconds, she found herself stealing glances at Leo, who seemed unusually calm — too calm.

After a few moments, he set his fork down and looked at her.

"Come with me," he said suddenly.

Daisy blinked, confused. "Where?"

Leo's lips curved into that faint, unreadable smile of his.

"You'll find out when we get there."

She hesitated, glancing at her assistant and the bodyguards waiting nearby.

Leo turned to them and said, "You two can go ahead. I'll take care of her from here."

They exchanged uncertain looks but didn't argue. Daisy stood up slowly, her heels clicking softly against the floor as Leo led her out of the restaurant.

The evening air was cool, brushing against her skin as they stepped outside.

He opened the car door for her — something that made her heart skip a beat — and once she was seated, he closed it gently before walking around to the driver's side.

Neither of them spoke as the car started moving.

The silence wasn't awkward, just… full of memories.

Streetlights flashed through the window, painting soft shadows on her face.

After a while, the car slowed to a stop. Daisy looked outside — and froze.

The wide open field, the old basketball court, the sound of crickets in the distance…

It was Shoukatsu, the place where they had first met back in school.

Her breath caught. "Why did you bring me here?" she asked quietly.

Leo stepped out of the car and came around to open her door. "Because I owe you an apology," he said simply.

Her heart thudded. "Leo, it's been years—"

"I know," he cut in, his voice low but steady. "And I wasted all of them pretending I'd moved on. I should have trusted you. I should have listened."

Daisy looked down, her hands tightening at her sides. "You didn't even give me a chance to explain back then," she whispered.

Leo moved closer, his gaze softening. "I know. And that's what I regret most."

For a moment, neither spoke. The night breeze carried the faint scent of grass and rain.

Then Leo reached out, gently lifting her chin until their eyes met.

"I missed you, Kayla," he said — her real name falling from his lips like a secret he had kept too long.

Leo....

Leo didn't let her finish.

He leaned in slowly, and before she could think, before she could stop herself — his lips met hers.

It wasn't rushed or forceful. It was soft, warm, and aching — the kind of kiss that said I'm sorry, I still love you, Kayla

For a moment, time stopped.

Then she pulled back slightly, breathless, her cheeks burning.

"Leo…" she whispered.

He smiled faintly. "Don't say anything yet. Just… let me make up for all the years I couldn't."

When they finally pulled apart, their breaths were shaky, their eyes locked.

"you shouldn't have done that," she whispered.

"I know," he murmured, his forehead against hers. "But I couldn't help it."

She looked down, her voice barely audible. "You're still impossible."

Leo smiled faintly. "Maybe. But you still love me."

She sighed, closing her eyes. "Just one more chance, Leo. Don't make me regret it."

"what" Leo Said

When Daisy said softly, "I'll give you one chance," Leo froze.

For a few seconds, he couldn't even breathe. He stared at her, eyes wide, like someone who had just been handed the world.

"You mean it?" he asked quietly, almost afraid to believe her.

Daisy lowered her gaze, fingers nervously brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Just one," she murmured. "Don't… don't break it this time."

Leo smiled faintly — not the charming one he used with everyone else, but the real one that reached his eyes. "I won't," he said softly. "I promise."

The car grew silent, only the hum of the engine filling the space between them. Daisy kept staring at her hands on her lap, her heart beating too fast, not daring to look up.

When they reached her apartment, Leo got out first and went around to open the door for her. She looked at him, startled.
