Chapter 42 - 42: Overthrow the Time Variance Authority!

After leaving the main hall, Loki asked Mobius for a weapon, only to be refused.

But his face showed no disappointment, and he asked in return:

"Once I leave this Time Variance Authority, I can use magic again. Aren't you worried I might betray you?"

"No, not at all," Mobius replied confidently, spreading his hands:

"You know we can always catch you. Besides, if you betray us, how would you even get close to the Time Keepers?"

At these words, Loki's steps immediately froze. He quickly turned back and asked:

"I'll have a chance to see the Time Keepers?"

Mobius didn't answer directly, only saying:

"You can try."

Next, Loki and the TVA team passed through a portal and arrived in 19th-century America.

Loki, still somewhat puzzled, asked Mobius why they didn't go directly to the moment before the event to stop the other Variant Loki.

Mobius only replied that such actions would make the timeline even more unstable, further affecting the sacred timeline. Therefore, they had to appear according to the actual timeline.

In Kamar-Taj, upon hearing this somewhat ambiguous explanation, the Ancient One's expression remained unchanged, though the corner of her eye betrayed a hint of a smile.

Indeed, the TVA's abilities were far from the omnipotent image they projected!

Or rather, their time-travel capabilities had considerable limitations.

The group entered a tent, only to find a helmet on the ground belonging to a C-20 guard.

Facing his colleagues' doubts, Hunter B-15 firmly stated:

"Loki definitely couldn't beat C-20."

Hearing this, Loki seemed to feel his pride wounded and quickly retorted:

"I think you might be underestimating…"

But Hunter B-15 ignored him entirely and ordered her subordinates to search outside.

Seeing this, Loki suddenly declared that the other Variant Loki was already outside, waiting for the TVA agents to reveal themselves.

"I saw that conspiracy, and within that conspiracy, I saw myself," Loki said solemnly. "In Asgard, we have a saying: 'Where the wolf's ears see, the wolf's teeth lie in wait.'"

In Asgard, Thor scratched his head, puzzled:

"We have that saying? How come I've never heard of it?"

Queen Frigga smiled softly. As expected, her son was about to start deceiving again.

But Loki's next words instantly froze Frigga's expression.

"The meaning of this saying is that you must always be vigilant."

Loki shrugged and then said something shocking:

"But in truth, it's useless. Because my people are naturally gullible fools."

"That's why I, as the God of Mischief, can exploit this weakness of theirs time and time again!"

"Loki, what nonsense are you spouting?"

Watching Loki rant on the screen, Thor's face turned red with anger, veins bulging on his forehead.

"We Asgardians are not fools!"

Queen Frigga sighed helplessly, sneaking a glance at her husband, worried he might be provoked by Loki's words.

Unexpectedly, Odin, seated on his throne, actually revealed a faint smile.

"My people… huh?"

Leaning back against the throne, a sense of relief filled him. It seemed his adopted son still considered Asgard his home.

Loki's tone suddenly grew intense:

"You remind me of them."

"The Time Variance Authority and the gods of Asgard are cut from the same cloth."

"Obsessed with power, yet blind to the truth."

"Those you underestimate will devour you!"

Walking up to Hunter B-15, Loki sneered:

"You underestimated me, just as you underestimated this lesser Loki. That's why you've been defeated by him time and again."

Next, Loki claimed that the other Variant Loki was actually seeking him.

"…And he is certain that together, we can overthrow and control the entire Time Variance Authority."

At this point, Loki's tone softened, becoming earnest:

"But I do not wish to do that. For now, I am a servant of the sacred timeline."

"Trust me, I can capture this Variant."

Seeing this, Tony Stark suddenly laughed heartily:

"A loyal servant? Oh my god, Loki, you're really going all out with this performance."

He turned to Loki, his gaze dripping with sarcasm:

"You really expect that Mobius would believe you… the God of Mischief, willingly playing the role of a servant?"

"Looks like you're not so good at lying after all…"
