Mo Shengsheng being a woman of her word, went to the people's court after leaving Liu Yutong's company and submitted the divorce petition along with the photos of Liu Yutong and Zhu Yuting.
She thought they would take a few days to verify it before deciding to open the case but everything was done within a few minutes.
The clerk told her Liu Yutong would be served within two to three days and they were expected to come for mediation next week.
Although she knew she would never get back together with Liu Yutong, mediation was a compulsory step that could not be skipped.
With how much noise they made today, she imagined that news of her asking for a divorce must've already spread ad by now.
She took a ride back home and saw that Su Xinyue wasn't sleeping. Before she could complain, Su Xinyue immediately explained.
"I slept. I slept! I was asleep for a long time after you left okay, I only just woke up."
Mo Shengsheng observed her and saw that she did look better than before so she didn't say anything.
Su Xinyue couldn't wait to ask about the details.
"What happened? Did Liu Yutong sign yet?"
Mo Shengsheng thought back to his threatening words and sneered.
"He refused to sign, going as far as to tear up the paper. Anyways, I passed by the court on my way back and filed for a divorce. He's going to be served within a few days and things will progress from there. Honestly, I don't think this might exceed this month."
Su Xinyue was surprised. She didn't have much experience with divorce cases but she knew they they were especially draggy and some could even last up to half a year.
But it was too early to say anything yet. That villain Liu Yutong might still do something to jeopardize the whole thing.
Mo Shengsheng didn't share her worries.
"If cheating isn't enough proof for them then emotional harm and abuse should be. He switched my multivitamins with birth control pills and then played the role of a devoted husband who wouldn't abandon me despite the lack of movement in my womb. It's quite chilling if you think about it."
Su Xinyue wasn't focused on this. Mo Shengsheng had always loved children and would definitely want to have one of her own.
Birth control pills were disastrous and caused extensive damage to a woman's body. Especially when used long term. If she had only loathed Liu Yutong before, she now hated him completely.
"Have you gone to the hospital to run a test? Excessive use of those pills might cause irreversible damage."
Mo Shengsheng paused. She had never thought of that. As someone who didn't know anything about birth control except that alot of women complained about them being unhealthy, she didn't know much more.
"Xingue, what do you mean?"
Su Xinyue took a deep breath.
"The side effects of those damn pills are so many the paper can be used to substitute a blanket, yet women are forced to take it because there's no other choice. You weren't taking them of your own volition but that doesn't mean the effect will be reduced. Come on, let's get you to the hospital."
Mo Shengsheng let herself be dragged by Su Xinyue. She really didn't know those pills could have such a disastrous effect. Liu Yutong was so cruel.
They went to the hospital and after several rounds of tests, the doctor held his notepad and said to her.
"Miss, from what is being shown, your ovaries aren't ovulating and your uterine lining is thin. This is consistent with someone who has been on hormonal birth control."
Mo Shengsheng hummed softly. That wasn't news to her.
"How does this affect my chances of conceiving in the future?"
The doctor paused slightly then cleared his throat.
"I'll be honest with you. From your data, it's very unlikely, I'm sorry. If you had been healthy, your fertility might bounce back after skipping the pills. But given your weak constitution and long-term medication history, there's no guarantee."
The words exploded in Mo Shengsheng's head like a bomb. She might not be able to ever have children in this life again. She had never hated being a premature baby as much as she did now. Why couldn't she have been born healthy?
Su Xinyue tightened her grip on her hand and faced the doctor.
"Sir, I doubt this is a 100% no way out thing. There has to be another way right?"
The doctor sighed softly.
"Yes. Although I do not want you to hold onto any false hope but, you may still be able to conceive but it will likely be difficult and you'd need treatment or assisted reproduction."
Su Xinyue pressed on
"Is there another way?"
The doctor was put in a spot. Her looked at Su Xinyue who didn't have any intentions of backing down and couldn't help but smile.
"You really care about each other."
Neither of them responded and he touched his nose.
"To be honest with you, my advice is to refrain from actively trying to get pregnant now. Nourish your body carefully and who knows, a miracle might happen. I didn't want to say this because a lot of woman would rather not hear this."
Mo Shengsheng who wasn't in a haste finally looked up.
"You mean there's a chance it can happen naturally if I take care of my body and try to make it repair itself naturally right?"
The doctor smiled.
"Yes."
She nodded and stood up from the chair with thr help of Su Xinyue.
"Thank you, I understand."
They received the reports and headed out hand in hand.
The doctor was about to go back into his office when someone spoke to him from behind.
"Was she here to run some tests?"
He turned around in shock and his hanging heart dropped when he saw it was doctor Yu. If it were anyone else, he wouldn't have said anything but he didn't think doctor Yu was asking out of gossip so he explained what happened making sure to skip some parts that would involve the patients confidentiality.
Yu Zhaoyun nodded, his eyes still at the corner where the two women disappeared to. He only just saw the messages Liu Yutong sent to the group chat complaining that Mo Shengsheng had gone crazy and wanted to leave him.
It was truly a coincidence that he would meet her here. But she obviously didn't see him.
Yu Zhaoyun's tongue pressed hard on his canine teeth and a wave of excitement surged in his heart. He couldn't wait to see how this would play out.
