Saehan Lee, a man who look in his late twenties, probably near to 26-27 was walking in a wide corridor. Walls painted in emerald with different gold decorative pieces hanging on it, the almost black coloured flooring and golden lights was making the corridor look mysterious.
His sight went on a very familiar cabin which he would visit very often. That cabin belonged to Odessa Odell. A fierce and bossy lady. Not to him, but to others.
Without even knocking, he entered in.
"Dessa!" He said barging in.
"You don't call me that." A lady said sitting on a chair resting her hands of table, probably arranging some documents. Her sharp eyes landed on him as he walked to her and sat infront.
"You are telling that to me from some good 60 years, knowing I'll call you that anyways." He grinned.
"Whatever! Why are you here?" She asked taking off her golden spectacles and putting the papers aside.
"Can I not visit my dear friend?" He asked leaning back on chair.
"You may leave if you have no business here. I'm very busy today." She said with her not so interested face.
"Don't be like that Dessa, I'm your friend!!
And, I do have a very important business with you." He said leaning infront, resting his arms on the table, going near her.
Odessa's cheeks burned at his act, still she kept her usual straight face. She leaned back, backing from him, avoiding what she felt everytime.
"What is it?" She asked.
"I've some envelopes of yours which you forget to collect." He said.
"There were more of them?" She asked.
"Why? How many did you receive today?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Twelve already." She said.
"That's alot of work. Yet they sent five more?" He took them out from the pocket of his black blazer.
" Five you're saying?" She mumbled as she saw him taking them out and putting on the table. Three were black and two red.
"Three are black? Three Suicides?" She looked at envelopes and then Saehan.
"New members." He smiled.
"Come on! Managing the suicidals is pain in ass." She argued.
"We were the same when we came." He shrugged.
"Tsk" Odessa was annoyed with the load of work she was getting. It was absurd that the superior would assign her workloads which were so exhaustable.
"I've no choice." She mumbled.
Her eyes landed on Saehan as she noticed him properly. He looked happier than usual.
And she knew why it was.
"Did you perhaps visit Korea without any work today?" She asked.
"Huh? Why would you ask?" He avoided her eyes. She understood that her assumption was correct. He did go to Korea.
"Saehan! How many times I've told you not to go!!" She raised her voice a bit.
"Your daughter is already living her life happily. She's got a good partner and her own children also. There is no need for you to interfere in human affairs and humans." She said.
"Going there will eventually trigger your memories making your core weak. You cannot atleast do it when you are a superior and have many new grim reapers under you! Are you even understanding?" She added.
" I know! I know everything of what you said, but.....but I cannot stop myself from doing it. I know it's been years and years, probably my daughter don't even think about me anymore but I'm her father! She is my world." He raised his tone.
"Do you even know how guilty I felt after I committed suicide thinking she died just to find out she was alive after I came here!? Do you know how much I regret it!?" He added.
"Saehan, I know it's hard for you. I know you love your daughter than anything else. But, we are grim reapers. We are not humans. We are just souls with some magical body. Don't engage yourself much in human world. I'm saying this for your own good." She said furrowing her brows.
Saehan let go a sigh. " I-I know you are." He said. "It was my fault. Sorry." He added.
"It's okay. I'm sorry for raising my voice." She said looking at him.
"It's fine Odessa." He mumbled and left her cabin.
