Chapter 4: SSR-level Neighbor Girl

Hearing Nia's remark, Mei couldn't help but slam her hands on the table in frustration, leaning her face right up to Nia's...

What she didn't notice was that her petite frame was now pressing against the desk, and due to the angle, certain parts of her began to change shape. This drew an admiring sigh from Satoru while causing Nia's lips to twitch involuntarily.

Was this really necessary?

This was just too much!

Though she had become a Spirit and her body had stopped growing, she still maintained the appearance of a lovely 17-year-old girl—and an "average" one at that!

But the problem was, these young girls nowadays were all over-nourished.

What on earth were they eating? At just 17 years old, they could develop into such monsters!

Heavens, you must truly be blind!!!

Ah, if only she had such assets—a curvaceous figure—she could have become the ultimate social butterfly in the real world.

Oh, never mind. The real world wasn't all that great anyway.

But still...

"I'm serious, your figure only started developing like this since the year before last, right? Before that, you were just a flat board. It's normal no one noticed, but now these weapons of mass destruction are quite lethal."

She figured she should give the girl a little heads-up.

Since this girl was close to Satoru, it wouldn't hurt to look out for her...

Of course, it would be even better if she didn't get too close.

But she had already used her abilities to look up all sorts of information about this girl.

She was unimaginably naive.

Born into an ordinary yet incredibly warm family—her father a civil servant, her mother a homemaker—she grew up surrounded by love and parental protection.

Though not entirely ignorant, her natural and overly optimistic personality made her somewhat ditzy, completely unsuspecting of others, and utterly sincere and kind to her friends beyond description.

...These were the kind of overpowered traits you'd only find in anime!

What kind of SSR-tier "girl next door" was this?!

Honestly, if she'd had a friend like this back then, she would never have shut herself off from society the way she did before!

Of course, given her experiences over the years, she wouldn't make too big a deal of it now.

She was indeed a good kid, but after a few more years of life's harsh lessons, she'd probably turn out completely different.

Reality was a trash game—no matter how good your starting stats were, you'd still end up garbage.

If not for Satoru dragging her along to study these past few months, she would have dropped out like before.

Still, she couldn't help but hope this overly naive girl would have a bit more luck and avoid any misfortune.

"N-not that! I-I'm not an idiot, I know about that stuff!"

Hearing Nia's words, Mei instinctively covered her chest, her face flushing as she protested loudly.

At the same time, she stole a glance at Satoru, her cheeks adorably pink...

Oh, right. She'd almost forgotten—on the first day of school last year, her dog had been saved by a certain someone playing the hero, and she'd held a bit of a crush on him ever since.

Not only that, but even the girl in the car hurriedly got out to apologize to them, and now they've become quite good friends, even forming something called a "Service Club"...

Sigh, even the plot is this cliché, like something straight out of a third-rate 2D fanfiction. Why did it have to happen in this awful reality?

Of course, she was confused, but Satoru himself was even more bewildered.

Who would have thought that even after arriving so many years earlier, something similar would still happen?

Perhaps this is the convergence of worldlines—he wasn't entirely sure himself.

Still, it wasn't so bad~

He had originally thought that arriving too early might mean missing out on the touching moments from the original story.

But now, they were unfolding in a new and unexpected way.

He hoped that life from now on would continue to be as happy as it was now~

...Wait, did he just jinx it?

But it should be fine.

After all, in this peaceful world, nothing dangerous should happen, right...

"Ara~ This should be the place, right?~ I searched for so long without finding anything, yet after disappearing for over a decade, you've reappeared under the same name~ The second known Spirit, 'Sister'—fufufu~ I don't know why you've shown up, but I'm sure you must know the whereabouts of the First Spirit, don't you?~"
