Chapter 10: You Can Come to My House
Outside the school campus.
Koneko and Renga walked side by side.
"Renga, don't you like the President?"
Suddenly the girl blurted out this question seemingly out of nowhere.
"There are many types of liking. Which one are you referring to?"
Renga countered.
"Ordinary liking - whether you have a good or bad impression of someone. The President means no harm, she's just... not very mature yet. But she'll become an excellent high-class devil and family head."
After hearing this, Renga suddenly reached out and placed his hand on Koneko's head.
"The word 'mature' doesn't really suit you, Koneko."
"I know. But the President is working hard. I just hope Renga won't dislike her."
"Ok, I can agree to that request. But have you been playing too much 2077? Who did you learn this from?"
He had identified the problem.
The normal Koneko wouldn't be this talkative.
At this point, Koneko fell silent, clearly because Renga had hit the mark.
As an experienced gamer, after finishing a game, it's easy to unconsciously imitate certain characters' behaviors and mannerisms.
Typically, this kind of behavior takes about a week to fade.
After all, reality is different from games.
"By the way, did you know it has a spin-off anime?"
Renga said.
They were almost at the school gate now. The conversation with Rias had made the area nearly empty.
"Renga... do you have it? I didn't manage to get it during the pre-sale."
Koneko suddenly became excited, her eyes sparkling brightly.
"I do, but it's at home. Do you want to come to my place to get it?"
"Okay!"
Without any intention of refusing, Koneko readily agreed.
In the old school building.
Akeno watched the two departing figures before turning back to Rias with a teasing remark: "It seems even Koneko is more charming than us."
"That's called innocence. Few boys would refuse a beautiful girl like her," Rias replied in a muffled voice.
Then half of her face emerged from the desk as she murmured quietly: "How enviable."
Thinking about the engagement that had been haunting her all this time, she couldn't help but sigh.
...
"Excuse me."
At the entrance.
Koneko took off her school-issued girls' leather shoes, revealing her small feet in white socks, then changed into indoor slippers.
She followed Renga into the living room.
"Make yourself comfortable. I'll go get the discs. Let's have dinner here tonight."
"Okay."
After responding, Koneko put down her backpack, walked to the living room sofa and leaned against it, then picked up the remote control to turn on the TV.
It was clear she was already quite familiar with the place.
Just then.
Accompanied by a faint aura that made Koneko's heart flutter slightly, the silver-haired sword spirit appeared behind her.
"Here to play again today?"
"Yeah."
Koneko looked at the little loli before her and nodded slightly, seemingly returning to her usual expressionless state.
After becoming familiar with Renga, she naturally grew closer with Esther too.
"This is a souvenir I bought from the Underworld."
Koneko took out a gift.
It was a classic popular snack from the Underworld.
Watching Koneko unwrap the packaging, Esther couldn't help but salivate.
Having slept for most of the day and just waking up, it was indeed time to be hungry.
When Renga came downstairs, what he saw was the scene of two fake kuuderes eating snacks.
It must be said, from a distance, some might mistake the two of them for sisters.
After all, both were expressionless, both had silver hair, with only Koneko being slightly taller than Esther.
"Here, this spin-off anime is perfect for watching alone at home. It's only ten episodes, not too long."
After receiving it, Koneko carefully stored it in her backpack.
While Esther was focused on eating snacks, Koneko seemed to remember something and asked, "Renga, how's your magic training going?"
"I've managed to refine a bit of magical power and can use some simple spells."
Renga said.
Thanks to his cheat ability, he had asked Koneko about magic usage after they became familiar.
In this world, magic was defined differently than in other worlds.
It wasn't a general term but an exclusive ability that only devils or their affiliates could use.
Of course, humans could use it too, but they either had to form a contract with a devil to generate magical power within their bodies, or perform certain rituals to implant magic circles or magical circuits to become mages.
But Renga didn't need any of that.
After obtaining the method for cultivating magical power from Koneko, he tried using the curse power within his body to generate magical power—and he succeeded, just as expected.
"Amazing!"
Koneko's pupils widened slightly.
Although Renga said it lightly, those in the know would understand just how difficult this was.
Moreover, she knew Renga hadn't made any contracts or implanted magical circuits or magic circles.
For a human to use magical power with nothing but their own body, without any external resources, this was already genius-level even in the underworld.
