chapter 2
Blake
I stare at her back as she walks out the alley. My eyes burn from how bright she is. I have the ability to see into people. Every person has a color. The darker and muted the color is the worse a person is. Most people are muted not black. Mostly dull reds and blues. Red is passion and if it's dull it means their passion isn't a good kind. If it's dull blue it's sadness for what they have done. And it's never good. Like if someone's loved one died and they are sad it will be a bright blue. If they killed someone in self defense. It will be blue and purple. The blue will be slightly dull but the purple will be bright. But if you kill someone in cold blood. It will be a very dull blue, a navy blue. however she is transparent with every color shimmering in it. Like looking right above something hot you can't see it but it makes everything on the other side look all wave and there are light colors shining in it.its so bright i want to cover my eyes but i cant look away.i stare right at her Tell i cant see her anymore.she told me to what. I would never what if anyone else and spotted me and told me to wait. I can't seem to get my feet to move. I want to see her again.
It makes me want to laugh so bad that a giggle comes out. I have been on the run for so long. I hate what my eyes can see. For as long as I can remember I have been able to see the colors. At first i didn't know what it meant or that other people couldn't see them too. When i talked about it around grown ups they thought i was making stuff up like kids do and played along with it. Tel i got older and they got tired of the game and told me I had to grow up. That's when I realized I'm the only one with this site. When I was born they told my parents I was blind. But I could see they called it a medical miracle. My eyes are milky white which is usually only if you have macular degeneration. You can barely see the iris and pupil behind it. But my eyesight is 20.20 or better because I can see what kinda person you really are. It took me years to figure out what all the colors mean. The more I found out, the more I started to hate it. And now I'm here on the run. I just had to let someone find out what I can do. As I'm thinking I hear a sound and look up. It's her, she's heading back to me with 3 big bags.
"Ok here we go" she says as she gets right in front of me putting the bags down. "I got bread and some canned food. There's also a can opener. In this bag are clothes, some underwear, socks, t-shirts and a pair of sleep pants sorry that's the only pants they had and in the last bag is medicine and bandages for the cuts. Some paper plates, boles and silver were. O hold on" she leaves the bags in front of me and turns around running off again. She's back in seconds. With a case of 24 waters. I can't help the laugh that finally comes out. Seeing her caring it to me. She gives me one hell of a look for that laugh. I shut my mouth fast. And try to stop the smile that threatens to come out. She drops it by the bags with a huff.
"There that should tide you over for a little wall. And here" She holds out her hand with something in it. I hesitated for only a second and she just rolls her eyes and tossed whatever was in her hand into my lap. I go to look to see what it was but then I hear her and my eyes shoot back up to look at her.
"Well that's all i can do for you, i wish you all the best" then she's walking away. I call out to her.
"Thank you, what is your name?" That was so dumb to say i was just trying to say something so she doesn't go yet and I really want to know her name.
"You're welcome and you don't need to know that just work hard and get back on your feet. There are a lot of places around here that need workers because the kids here don't want to work. Go ask them for a job. A lot don't ask too many questions just work hard and you will be fine" then shes gone i stand and rush to the opening of the alley and she's all ready to her four wheeler putting her stuff into the back. I go to step out. To follow her to talk more when I spot him. He's got his back to the building lounging against it smoking a cigarette staring at her. He has a dark red color coming off him. It's so dark it's almost black. I know he has no good thoughts about her. I step back into the shadows. So he doesn't see me. I watch him as he watches her. She finishes putting her stuff up then jumps on and takes off. He yells after her.
"See you next Sunday" he's waving but she doesn't even look at him and heads to the back of the store. He puts out his cigarette. Turning I duck back further in. He walks back into the store. I can still hear her. So she's coming back next Sunday. Well I know what i have to do now. I smile and walk back to all my new stuff.I start looking at everything. That's when I saw it. What she threw at me. it must have dropped when I went to chase after her. It's money. I pick it up and look at it. It's a hundred in $20s. I laugh again. I haven't laughed this much in years. I put it in the bag of food for now. I drop my jacket then rip my shirt off. I'm covered in cuts all over from all the running I have needed to do but I have been moving for 3 months. I'm on the other side of the country. I haven't slept in one place for more than a night. I have never rented a place to sleep or a car to drive. I haven't even gotten a bus ticket. I grab a bottle of water then I kick the bag with clothes and my foot hits something hard. I look and under everything is a little 2 in 1 body and head with one toothbrush and a small tooth past. I pour water over my hair and my chest. I grab the soap and wash up the best I can. I brush my teeth. It's been a while. I'm so happy now she didn't get too close to me.she might have run away if you smelt my breath. I clean all my cuts and bandage them up and change my clothes. I put all my stuff in the corner. I sit by it and put my head on the water and rest a little more. I need to come up with a plan so I can stay in this town. I want to see her again. I just have to make it happen. I will have to find a job and a place to stay. I open my eyes and grab my old pants. I look in the inner pocket. I pull out all the money I have. It's around 4 thousand. It's not enough to get me something great but I can rent something small for a wall with it . She said there are a lot of places where I can get a job. I just have to find a place where I can work alone and not have to deal with people o and a boss that won't ask too many questions. The most important thing is to make sure I have Sunday off so I can be back here. the $100 she gave me will never be spent. I will have to find a safe place to put it. I put my money back up. Laying back down, I close my eyes once more. Her face pops up as soon as I close them. She looked like she would rather be anywhere else than talking to me. And yet she went out of her way to help me. O i could get used to that look she gave me when I laughed. I know she thought I was laughing at her for how she was caring the water. I was just happy to meet someone as beautiful as her. I don't mean just her face. That was pretty to. But her soul now was truly beautiful. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it before. I drift off to her.
