Chapter 128: Interrogation

Steve had been sitting inside the interrogation room for half a day.

Several wizards had come in and out, some were looking into his eyes, forcing him to answer questions and even shoving strange potions down his throat. He tried resisting at first, but the moment he did, a calm notification echoed in his mind.

SYSTEM NOTICE: All data from your past world has been encrypted. No information can be extracted.

Hearing that, Steve relaxed. He stopped struggling and even drank the potion which he believed is Veritaserum willingly, at first they wanted to force him, later he pretending to be obedient.

But none of the answer could satisfy their curiousity.

After the effect of Veritaserum end, the wizards which he believed to be an auror went out of the room.

A moments later he heard an enraged voice echoed from outside the room.

"How dare you give a child Veritaserum!"

Steve turned just as the door was slammed open. A stern-looking witch stepped inside, her eyes blazing with fury.

He didn't know her, but from her authority and the way the Aurors froze, he could guess her identity.

'Wait… that has to be Amelia Bones,' Steve thought.

Amelia marched to the table and stood directly in front of him. Her expression softened slightly when she looked at his small frame, but her jaw remained tight with anger.

She had already read the preliminary report. According to their records, the boy name was Steve Roger, a child around ten, nearly eleven, living in the orphanage since infancy. His appearance looked fully British, with no physical resemblance to any known pureblood or half-blood families.

Pureblood lines always carried at least some resemblance, anywhere from ten to ninety percent. This boy, however, showed no similarity to anyone registered.

Most likely a muggleborn, she thought. An orphan. Poor. And yet…

What shocked her the most was not his status.

It was his unbelievable ability to use magic without a wand and with enough power to kill Death Eaters.

Amelia looked at Steve again, this time not with anger and pity, but with deep, serious curiosity.

"Steve Roger, based on our information you can use magic without a wand," said Amelia. "Something that impossible to happen for someone below 11 years old but maybe you are gifted child."

Steve just looked at her and reply.

"Madam, can I go home every magical police wizards had asked me the same question and they even chug down some liquid to me. I am really tired," said Steve roger.

"Yes, you can return to your home but tomorrow more people might come to your place," replied Amelia.

But before Steve could reply suddenly, the door was opened and the Dumbledore come inside with Kingsley to meet with Steve.

---Dumbledore Informed---

The atmosphere inside the DMLE office grew heavier as Kingsley Shacklebolt finished flipping through the last page of the incident report. His face, normally unreadable, carried a rare expression of disbelief. Even for a seasoned Auror who had survived two wars, the information in front of him felt unreal.

Eight Death Eaters attacked the muggle neighbourhood, then one of the muggleborn wizard confronted them and the result was three dead and Five gravely injured.

All at the hands of a single boy.

A boy not yet old enough to attend Hogwarts.

Kingsley exhaled slowly and closed the folder. He did not waste another second. He strode to the fireplace and send a signal to Hogwarts so the channel would be opened, he threw in a handful of floo powder, and called out,

"Hogwarts Headmaster Office."

Green flames roared, and moments later, the familiar face of Albus Dumbledore appeared. His half-moon spectacles glimmered with curiosity.

"Good evening, Kingsley. Is there an emergency?"

Kingsley didn't answer immediately, instead, he held up the file so the Headmaster could see the thing that he hold.

"Albus," Kingsley said, voice unusually tense, "I have a situation that requires your direct attention."

"I see. What has happened?" replied Dumbledore calmly.

Kingsley opened the first page and read aloud. "A child by the name of Steve Roger… approximately ten years old. Muggleborn. Lives in a small orphanage. Earlier today he encountered eight masked individuals attacking civilians."

"Death Eaters," Dumbledore muttered, eyes narrowing.

"Yes. He not only survived… but defeated all eight."

Dumbledore went utterly still.

Kingsley continued, "Three of them were killed instantly. Five are alive but severely injured. Curse wounds, bone fractures, magical backlash, things even a trained Auror rarely deals out so efficiently."

"And this child, did he developed Obscurial?" asked Dumbledore because his sister and even his nephew got this magic diseased.

"No," Kingsley replied and for a moment he can see Dumbledore face changed. "That is the problem, he is fighting them and won, he used magic without a wand. And not the kind we know. No accidental magic. No wild bursts. These were deliberate techniques and he can control it perfectly.

Dumbledore closed his eyes briefly, "A ten-year-old," Dumbledore repeated. "Performing unknown magic… powerful enough to overwhelm multiple adult wizards trained in dark arts."

"Yes," Kingsley confirmed. "And according to the witnesses, he seemed calm and I myself had meet him, we asked him to demonstrate the magic and he really did it." Kingsley hesitated. "It does not resemble anything taught at Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, or even in ancient runic traditions."

Dumbledore become silent while Kingsley just look at him.

"Kingsley," he said, "I want you to take me to him. Immediately."

Kingsley nodded. "Do you suspect he wasn't a child?"

"I suspected as much." Dumbledore sighed. "A rare child like this… I hope I am wrong but I need to take a look at him first. ."

Kingsley closed the report. "Do you think he's a threat, Albus?"

"I think," Dumbledore replied, eyes gleaming with an intensity Kingsley had not seen in years, "that a child capable of such feats must not be left alone. Power without guidance becomes unpredictable and can make their ego big enough."

"Then follow me," replied Kingsley.
