Chapter 38 - Lunatic’s Anger

I lean back against the couch, eyes closed as the faint hum of machines fills the hospital room. My body feels heavy, drained, but the worry twisting in my chest keeps me awake. The room door clicks open.

I look up.

Dr. Jack steps inside with the same easy smile he always carries, as if he refuses to let the darkness of this place touch him. He glances at me—my posture, the tension in my shoulders—and lets out a low whistle.

"Woow Mr CEO, how rare to seeing a boss worry for his employee. I wonder how much care you your secretary."

His teasing hits soft, not sharp, but my head aches. I rub my forehead and sigh.

"Jack.."

He ignores the exhaustion in my voice and sits beside me, his hand warm on my arm.

"Don't worry, he's alright. Just some weakness. From seeing his condition look like he didn't eat well from days. We just need to hospitalized him for 24 hours, then he be discharged."

Relief drags through me like a slow exhale.

"Good."
