Chapter 6 - Training

Early in the morning, Eichi opened his window and felt refreshed. He playfully nudged Weedle awake.

Weedle tilted its head. "Weee?"

Eichi said, "Weedle, from today on, whenever I go to class, you'll need to stay quietly inside your Poké Ball."

He placed a Poké Ball in front of Weedle.

Weedle understood. It tapped the button with its horn.

The ball opened, and Weedle turned into white light and was drawn inside.

The Poké Ball closed, and Eichi picked it up.

He pressed the button again, releasing Weedle.

After that, he led Weedle to the living room, where its breakfast—milk and honey—was already on the table.

Weedle eagerly crawled over and began drinking.

Eichi prepared his own breakfast and ate slowly.

When he was finished, he said, "Time to go."

Weedle obediently waited for him to recall it.

He held the ball to it and said, "For now, you'll have to make do inside here. Later, I'll get you something better."

With that, he headed to school.

In class, after he sat down, Aki arrived and asked, "Eichi, did your Pokémon Egg hatch yet?"

"It did," said Eichi.

"What Pokémon is it?"

"Weedle."

"Oh, just a Weedle? It's not as strong as my Mankey."

Eichi thought to himself, "We'll see who's stronger in the future."

After school, Eichi didn't go home. Instead, he went to a grove near his house. It was called a grove, but it was actually quite large.

People unfamiliar with it could easily get lost.

He found a clearing and placed his backpack beneath a tree.

He pressed his wristwatch. It was a new one, mainly for keeping time.

He released Weedle from its Poké Ball.

"Weee~" Weedle chirped at him, as if asking what they were going to do.

Eichi crouched down. "Weedle, starting today, you'll begin training."

Weedle was full of energy. Hearing the word training, it thought it might be something fun and quickly nodded.

"Good. Since you're ready, let's start."

"First, we'll run three laps around this grove." He started running.

Weedle hurried after him.

Its body was made of eight segments, with seven pairs of legs. Fourteen legs working together meant it wasn't slow.

In terms of stats, Weedle was balanced, except its Speed, which was 50.

After one lap, it was still fine.

By the second, it began to slow down.

By the third, it was nearly crawling.

Eichi encouraged it constantly, and Weedle pushed through.

Afterward, it stopped moving altogether, exhausted.

Eichi took a small cup from his bag and poured in honey water.

Weedle's eyes lit up. It crawled over and drank happily.

Eichi sat nearby, also resting. He was just as tired. One lap of the grove was about 1,000 meters, so three laps meant 3 kilometers.

Even in his past life, three laps would leave him winded. Though humans in the Pokémon world were naturally stronger, he still only had the body of a ten-year-old.

Unlike Ash, he had no extraordinary talent, just slightly better endurance than children from his previous life.

Once he recovered, he said to Weedle, "That was physical training. Now comes Move training."

"Weee…" Weedle whined. It was tired and didn't want to continue.

It was acting spoiled. Eichi encouraged it patiently, but it still refused.

Finally, he promised it something tasty at home, and Weedle reluctantly agreed.

"Weedle, use all the Moves you know on that tree."

Weedle first used String Shot, then Bug Bite, and finally whipped its tail to launch Poison Sting.

When it finished, Eichi nodded.

So far, Weedle knew all the standard Moves except Electroweb.

"Very good, Weedle."

Weedle beamed and chirped happily.

Eichi then tested String Shot, measuring its range and how many times Weedle could use it.

Seven times in total, with a range of about 5 meters.

He wrote this data into his notebook.

Next, he tested Bug Bite, using a small wooden stick.

The result wasn't great—only shallow bite marks.

The power was weak, probably because Weedle had only just hatched.

Finally, he tested Poison Sting, recording the results carefully.

Afterward, he had Weedle repeat the Moves, again and again, to improve its mastery and draw out its potential.

When training was over, Eichi gave it some MooMoo Milk to drink.

Once Weedle rested, he had it run another lap.

Eichi followed behind. He didn't scold it for being slow, because he knew Weedle was exhausted.

By the end, Weedle collapsed, pretending to be dead.

Eichi laughed and walked over.

"Alright, that's enough for today. Let's go home and eat something tasty."

Hearing this, Weedle sprang up, cheering, "Weee~!"

He recalled the tired Weedle into its Poké Ball, put his bag over his shoulders, and went home.

That evening, at home, he mixed honey into milk and poured it into a dish.

Weedle, who had been waiting eagerly, devoured it at once.

Afterward, Eichi bathed it.

Then he gave it a massage. Though he knew nothing about techniques, it still had some effect. More importantly, it felt good.

Weedle quickly fell asleep during the massage.

Eichi placed it on the bed. At his desk, he reread the notes he had recorded and wrote a summary.

From today's training, he confirmed that Weedle's Ability was Shield Dust.

Shield Dust blocked any additional effects from damaging Moves that hit it.

After finishing his notes, he went to bed.

As he slept, a faint green energy slowly seeped into Weedle's body.
