His eyes scanned the crowd as soon as he stepped into the grand ballroom. According to his assistant, Emily had already arrived and was most likely somewhere around the spacious room. She was probably mingling with the other guests.
So far, Nolan hadn't seen even a glimpse of her shadow.
"Nolan, you're finally here." A man's throaty voice stopped him in his tracks and forced him to turn around.
Behind him, Nolan found Mr. Leonard, one of his Board Members. "I'm also glad you could join us, Sir." He greeted the older man with a firm handshake.
Mr. Leonard was not just one of his father's trusted friends, but he was also one of the most reliable people in the company.
"Well, I would not miss this. Besides, if I remember correctly, you're about to introduce me to your wife." Mr. Leonard tapped him on his shoulder as if reminding him of their arrangement. "Where is she?" The older man's eyes looked over his shoulder as if trying to see if she was behind him.
