"Why did you marry my son? Do you even love him?" Suddenly, the voice of the man that she met earlier reverberated in her brain.
The man's expression showed no sign of what he felt about her. His eyes were blank of any emotions as he stared at her. But clearly, he was carefully studying her, as if being examined under a microscope.
"Well, that's none of your concern." Emily wanted to say that, since it was no one else's business except hers and her husband's. But that man was her father-in-law, even if it was just on paper, unless their marriage truly became real as Nolan had suggested.
Instead, she said, "I do." At least, she could honestly answer him that. She knew subconsciously she must have said yes that night because it was her heart that had done the talking, not her brain.
But now, could she say yes again to what her husband was asking of her?
