Su Ye listened with undivided attention.

His usually indifferent eyes were sharp, focused, as if engraving every instruction into his memory. He even pulled out a notebook and pen, writing everything down with neat precision.

Dosage, schedule, aftercare—nothing escaped him.

Tang Xiyu watched him from the side.

At some point, while Matthew was talking, she wasn't really listening anymore. She just kept looking at Su Ye, at his serious expression, at the way he frowned slightly whenever he concentrated.

It struck her deeply. He was more serious about her recovery than she was. He cared, silently, and fiercely.

A ripple spread in her heart.

Warmth, gratitude, love, fear, all mixing together until her emotions became too overwhelming to contain. For a brief second, she wanted to cry, not out of sadness, but because she suddenly realized how precious he was.

Why? Why was he so good to her?

If he continued being this good to her, how would she keep her distance?
