Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

The scene shifts back to the Raizer Mountains...

"Come on, hit me again," Kael called out, motioning toward Laxus, who was panting heavily after an intense round of physical training.

"Ahhh!"With a roar, Laxus lunged forward, his fist crackling with raw power. Kael met him head-on. Their fists collided again and again in a storm of physical blows, the echo of their strikes rolling through the secluded mountain valley.

Here, far from the world, there was no one to disturb their brutal training.

Only when Laxus finally collapsed to his knees, body trembling and breath ragged, did Kael stop. He allowed Laxus a moment to rest before guiding him into mental focus training—deep meditation to sense the surrounding environment and connect with the rhythm of the lightning in the air, refining his control over its elemental energy.

This method continued day after day for three long months.

During that time, Laxus's combat ability had improved tremendously. His movements began to match Kael's tempo, his Armament Haki and Observation Haki both showing remarkable progress. By now, Laxus could clearly sense everything happening within the entire valley.

Kael, too, had evolved. His strength had broken through to new heights as he developed several new spells suited to his light-based and supportive fighting style.

Even Kael couldn't help but admire Laxus's raw talent. The plan he'd initially expected to take half a year had been achieved in barely three months.

Now, as they sparred once more, Kael began to ease off, gradually reducing the force of his strikes. When Laxus came at him with a fierce punch, Kael crossed his arms to block, redirected the blow, and then stepped back. He raised a hand to signal the end of the session.

Boom... Boom...

Thunder rolled overhead. Dark clouds gathered thickly in the sky, lightning snaking through them like silver dragons weaving through a stormy sea.

"It's time for the next step," Kael said calmly, glancing toward the heavens.

"The next step?" Laxus repeated, lowering his stance and following Kael's gaze. The sight of the storm clouds left him puzzled.

"Yes," Kael nodded. "Focus your Observation Haki upward. Extend it into the clouds. Feel the lightning within. Then, channel your own thunder magic along that path—merge your energy with nature's lightning. Guide that power, reshape it, and finally, release it toward the earth in one strike."

He spoke steadily, explaining the theory behind the spell. If Laxus could truly succeed, the resulting magic would possess catastrophic destructive potential—bordering on the realm of forbidden spells.

"So... it's about borrowing power from nature itself," Laxus murmured, eyes narrowing in thought. "But if that's the case, won't the spell depend on specific weather conditions? It can only be cast under certain circumstances."

He'd instantly seen the limitation, gazing at Kael for an answer. He trusted Kael enough to know there was a workaround.

Kael smiled faintly. "You're right. But that's only the starting point. We can create our own thunderclouds—replicate the natural phenomenon through magic theory and elemental balance. In principle, it's not that different from natural lightning..."

Drawing from the scientific principles of his past life combined with the magical logic of Earthland, Kael explained how they could artificially generate lightning clouds. It would eliminate the dependency on specific weather conditions entirely.

Laxus's eyes lit up with excitement. "Interesting... Very interesting," he said, clenching his fists. His fighting spirit burned fiercely again, anticipation flashing in his gaze.

Kael laughed, pleased by Laxus's reaction. "Not bad, huh? Hah, I surprise even myself sometimes. Alright, enough talking—let's get to work. Start by reaching out and sensing the lightning above."

Laxus nodded. He closed his eyes, calming his breathing. Slowly, he extended his Observation Haki upward, allowing it to rise into the air, stretching toward the dark clouds above.

He began to feel it—the dampness of the air, the faint hum of static all around, and the restless dance of lightning waiting to strike. With his Haki amplifying every sensation, the world suddenly felt wide open, vivid, and alive.

The moment his Haki brushed against the storm clouds, his body shuddered. His eyes snapped open, gleaming with exhilaration.

"Hahaha!"He laughed loudly, his voice echoing through the valley. "This lightning... this power—it's incredible! Truly incredible!"

He could feel it—the raw, unrestrained strength of nature itself. The moment this spell was completed, it would rival high-tier forbidden magic, perhaps even reaching the level of super-magic.

"Good," Kael said, smiling faintly. "Now guide it. Make the thunderclouds respond to your will—reshape them, contain their energy, and control it as your own."

This stage was the hardest. It took weeks of trial and failure. For the first seven days, the lightning refused to obey, striking wildly across the mountainside whenever Laxus lost focus.

Fortunately, neither of them feared lightning. Otherwise, this experiment might have ended before it began.

One Month Later

They stood together atop the highest peak. The air was heavy with energy.

Laxus had drawn all the lightning from the storm into a single massive thundercloud above the valley. His magic surged skyward, merging with the storm. The world dimmed. The sun vanished behind the shroud of black clouds. The air trembled.

The only light came from flashes of blinding lightning tearing across the sky.

Far below, in the nearby town of Roust, people stopped in their tracks, staring at the unnatural darkness gathering above the distant mountains.

"Mom, look! A dragon!" a small boy shouted, tugging at his mother's sleeve.

The woman turned—and froze. From the swirling clouds emerged the colossal, glowing head of a dragon made entirely of lightning. Its blue scales shimmered with pure energy.

Panicking, she snatched her child into her arms, trembling with fear. But the boy only gazed upward in awe, eyes shining with wonder.

High above the mountains, Kael stood beside Laxus, momentarily stunned himself by the sight before them.

The Thunder Dragon was magnificent—its massive claws stretching from the clouds like anchors, arcs of electricity dancing along its body. The creature's maw opened slightly, spewing torrents of lightning into the heavens, radiating divine, unstoppable power.

"This... this is amazing! Hahahaha!" Laxus laughed wildly, overwhelmed by excitement.

"Don't lose focus!" Kael warned. "Guide it toward the valley—if it stays longer, you'll lose control!"

As he spoke, Kael raised his hand and conjured his defense spell—Holy Light Magic: Quintuple Divine Shield!

"S-Class Spell—Thunder Dragon's Strike!!"

Laxus thrust his arm forward.

In that instant, the colossal dragon above the clouds descended in a blinding flash, its roar shaking the world. A massive pillar of lightning slammed into the valley below, tearing through mountains and sky alike.

The explosion was deafening. The shockwave blasted outward in every direction, pure destructive power radiating like an expanding sun.

Kael's five light shields held firm for a moment—but the first three shattered almost instantly under the impact. The fourth barely contained the force as Kael poured all his magic into maintaining it, sweat rolling down his face.

When the light finally faded...

The valley was gone. Completely erased. The surrounding mountains were scorched flat. The landscape looked as if a meteor had struck. The storm clouds that had loomed so long began to break apart, sunlight spilling once again across the earth.

From the nearby town, witnesses had captured everything—the thunder dragon forming, descending, and obliterating the valley. The next day, the footage spread rapidly across Fiore via the magic crystal network.

Even the Magic Council received copies from stationed soldiers, and an emergency meeting was called in response.

All major guilds, including Fairy Tail, received the news within hours.

Unaware of the commotion their training had caused, Kael and Laxus began their journey home... completely oblivious to what awaited them upon their return
