Chapter 90 - Chapter 90 — “The First Fracture”

The SOL coin hovered above Unity Hall like a second sun, golden light spilling over flags and cheering crowds. Waves of energy shimmered across the city as citizens raised fists and banners, chanting the new dawn.

Narration: "The South had its sun… its bank… its future. But shadows do not fade when ignored—they wait."

Maya stepped up to a massive crystal podium, her presence commanding every eye.

"We inaugurate the South Reserve Bank—our fortress of independence!"

Holographic vaults rotated above her, filled with gold, data streams, and digital SOL currency. Economists from fifty nations erupted in applause, cheering the birth of financial sovereignty. Narration: "For the first time, wealth belonged to the South."

Lacolone held a glowing SOL note in his hands, its gold gleaming in the sunlight streaming through the hall. The inscription read: "One South, One Sun." Children lifted small coins, chanting, their voices carrying hope across continents.

Narration: "A single currency—born from struggle, baptized in hope."

Military leaders from Africa, Asia, and Latin America signed the Collective Defense Treaty. Soldiers clasped hands across borders, their uniforms different yet united.

Jessica whispered to Valgor: "No empire will break this shield."

Narration: "The South forged not just wealth—but armor. Its people and armies intertwined in unbreakable resolve."

Montage scenes celebrated the new era: farmers lifted golden wheat beneath SOL banners, engineers launched satellites, and students waved flags in lecture halls.

Narration: "The future no longer whispered—it roared."

In the quiet of Lacolone's private chamber, the black device flickered violently. Its screen read: "Elysium Status: Active." His eyes narrowed. Whisper: "…It has begun."

Far beneath the surface, a massive chamber pulsed with crimson light. The Elysium cocoon cracked, tiny fissures spreading across its surface. Cloaked scientists chanted in low tones, glyphs and lines of code crawling along the walls.

Narration: "The old world was waking."

Suddenly, a shockwave tore through Unity City. Lights flickered across the hall. Children clutched parents, and panic rippled through the crowd.

Narration: "On the day of light… darkness struck."

Maya turned to Lacolone, alarmed: "What is this?!"

A trembling messenger spoke: "It's the hidden program… Elysium… we couldn't contain it."

Lacolone gripped the device, voice firm: "Then we face it—together."

News flashed worldwide: "SOL launched – but system shock reported." Anchors warned: "Their dream is already unstable!"

Protesters in the South shouted back: "Stand strong! Don't fear!"

Narration: "The fracture became the world's obsession. Every eye watched the South—every shadow stirred."

Even amid tension, small moments of levity remained. Valgor held a SOL coin as the building trembled.

"Your sun seems fragile," he said.

Jessica rolled her eyes: "At least it shines brighter than your brain."

The crowd laughed quietly, breaking a moment of fear.

Unity leaders argued heatedly in the council chamber.

Leader A: "Shut down SOL before it collapses!"

Leader B: "If we retreat now—we lose forever!"

Lacolone slammed his fist: "Fear has ruled us for centuries—today, we rule fear!"

A child in the crowd clutched a SOL coin, trembling.

"Don't let them take our sun."

Maya's eyes filled with tears. Whisper: "We cannot fail them."

Armies mobilized silently, prepared not for nations, but against the shadows emerging underground. Drones scanned cavernous tunnels. Generals confirmed: "If it rises—we stand united."

The Elysium cocoon split open, pouring red light into the underground chamber. A colossal silhouette stretched outward, immense and indistinct. A roar shook the foundations of the earth: "FREE ME…"

Narration: "What was built in darkness now sought the light."

Above ground, Unity Hall radiated with the SOL emblem. Lacolone lifted the Charter high: "We will not kneel to shadows. We have chosen our sun!"

Maya joined him, holding a SOL coin aloft. The crowd erupted: "One South! One Sun!"

Light and dark stood poised across the world. Above, people chanted in hope. Below, red glow spread through tunnels, the Elysium cocoon trembling and cracking.

Narration: "Two worlds… one destined to live, the other to consume."

The SOL coin blazed in the sky like fire, casting golden light across continents. Beneath, a monstrous hand smashed through the cracking cocoon, fingers stretching toward the surface.

Narration (final line): "The sun had risen—but the shadows refused to die."
