Chapter 17: The Seer
I couldn't get that woman out my head it's all I can think. I tried to ask the captain but hewas too busy, too focused on the missions to answer my real questions. But I wonder would Rana know something because the way she used that power a couple days ago it seems like she know knowledge of the spiritual side of this world.
I later found her in the library, the library was less about history and more about sacred artifacts. She wasn't doing anything but she was polishing a set of obsidian-black books carved into a heavy wooden box. She didn't look up when I walked in. It felt like she was ignoring me.
"Hey Rana would you know anything about a lady in the garden," I started, trying to keep my voice steady. "Because the other day I seen a woman with black hair and when I blinked she was gone ."
Rana stopped polishing, but kept her eyes on the books. "Sit down, Reiyo. This isn't a conversation for the you to just be standing."
I sat on a low silver chair, the cold air of the library seeping through my coat.
"The Captain had seen her a couple of times, but he doesn't see the full scope," Rana said softly. "That woman is a spirit of the Aetherium, they are spirits in the conventional dimension. They are colossal, ancient consciousnesses of pure Decay. They cannot simply walk into this reality, not since the great God Anima blessed the world."
She finally looked up, her expression intense. "When a vessel is corrupted, and we end up getting saved. The human soul have to be forced on this dimension cause due to them being a lost soul. Sometimes the human soul attempts to build a physical, functioning body that can anchor its consciousness here. But that woman was already too far to complete the process. If she'd finished the process, we wouldn't have been able to stop her even with the entire fortress power."
The thought was just a chill to my soul, Rana sighed no reason you should be afraid they can't come in contact with the real world. But what if they do come in contact,If they did they will most likely draw everything from your collective doubt and fear. Every life we lose, every corrupted soul, it feeds their greedful lust to be reborn."
I realized this was the moment to ask about the other mystery. "What if one was to be able to use powers like when I fell asleep, I had these awful flashes—teleporting, fog, the ocean. Was that her?"
Rana's usual calm broke. She froze, then slowly closed the wooden box. She didn't look surprised; she looked afraid.
I felt ridiculous describing this strange encounter. Rana shook her head, her eyes wide. I'm thankful you told me if that woman presence is really here, then we obviously need to do something I Will speak about this to the captain, and if you see her anymore please notify me, thanks I replied but I still had a feeling that she wasn't telling me everything and that she probably already knew about that woman,it kinda sounds like a profound omen to be honest.
Knock,
Knock,
Knock,
what the hell who is knocking that loud, before I could even get up, there I was in that same fog, that I was in the other day, what is going on why do I keep getting teleported here,Reiyo, a woman yelled you saw her, and if she's reaching into your mind, you need to understand that she is the reason the False Gods are so desperate to be reborn." I don't get it I yelled who are you and what do you mean who is the reason. A mysterious force leaned forward, her voice dropping to a harsh, urgent intensity. "That woman is the reason why False Gods seek to possess people, and if they succeed in claiming a handful of people, her rebirth will be complete. Her presence near you means you are now irrevocably linked to a soul that once used to belong to her." No matter where you run or hide she will be there no matter if you're protected she will be waiting to claim your soul, that's all I heard untill I woke up and I was in the hospital what was happening to me and who was that mysterious aura talking to me.
