Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Shadows In The Crown

*Chapter 22: Shadows in the Crown*

The storm had begun.

Elena stood in her private chamber, staring at the holographic projection of *The Architect's* name. Her pulse was steady, but her mind raced with memories she had long buried. He had once taught her how to disarm a room with just her presence. Now, he was the very ghost trying to destroy everything she had built.

"He trained me too well," she muttered. "But he underestimated how much I could surpass him."

A coded alert buzzed on her communicator. Marco's voice came through, tense.

"Elena, the southern cache has been raided. They knew the exact location. Only someone with Level Omega clearance could've accessed that."

Elena clenched her jaw. The betrayal was now undeniable.

"There's a traitor," she whispered again, this time with certainty. "And they've just made their first move."

In the safehouse's underground surveillance room, Jade stood alone, her eyes darting toward the blinking console. She typed fast, erasing traces of her last transmission. Her hands shook slightly—not from guilt, but from fear of being caught.

Suddenly, Isabelle's voice called from the hallway. "Jade, Elena wants a status update. Now."

Jade composed herself and exited calmly. She wore her mask well.

That night, Elena summoned the inner circle.

"I've narrowed it down to two suspects," she said, eyes piercing into each of them. "And one of them is in this room."

The silence was sharp.

"I'll be gone for 48 hours," she continued. "When I return, I'll know who betrayed me. And I will deal with them personally."

***

She boarded the stealth jet alone, heading toward a remote monastery in Romania—*The Sanctum Noctis*—a forgotten place where ancient leaders of the Order once stored forbidden knowledge. Only she knew its location.

When she arrived, the monks in shadowy robes bowed slightly, not out of reverence, but fear.

"You've come for the Crimson Ledger," said the elder monk.

Elena nodded. "And the truth."

They led her to the sealed vault, where a blood-bound book awaited. Inside were the true origins of the mafia crown… and the Architect's name—*Nikolai Trevisan*—marked in red.

He had orchestrated her father's death.

He had betrayed the entire DeLuca bloodline.

He had been planning this war for decades.

***

Back at the base, Jade slipped into the vault room, attempting to retrieve the hidden flash drive she had stashed. But this time, she wasn't alone.

Isabelle stood in the shadows, arms crossed.

"I knew it was you," she said quietly.

Jade pulled a knife.

"You won't make it to warn her," she hissed.

They fought—silent, fast, and brutal. Blood spilled. Metal clashed. And when it ended, only one stood.

***

The jet returned under the cover of dawn.

Elena stepped onto the tarmac, her mind clear, her eyes darker than before.

Marco greeted her. "There's something you need to see."

He led her to the vault.

Inside: Isabelle, standing over a bruised and bound Jade.

"No more masks," Isabelle said simply.

Jade's betrayal was exposed.

But Elena didn't celebrate. Her war was just beginning.

***

That night, as the city lights flickered like dying stars, Elena stood on the rooftop of her stronghold, reading the last page of the Crimson Ledger.

At the bottom, a single line written in her father's handwriting:

*"The crown never belongs to the blood. It belongs to the one strong enough to survive the fire."*

She closed the book.

"I'm still standing," she said coldly. "Let him come."

Because Elena DeLuca wasn't just a queen.

She was the fire.

*To be continued…*
