Chapter 10 - Awakening. Discipline. First step. Future revenge + growth arc begins.

Scene 1 — Office Morning

The office floor hums with keyboards and quiet murmurs.

Mark enters, shirt slightly wrinkled, eyes swollen but sharp.

Larry already sits at his desk, typing without looking up.

Both boys are broken, both pretending to work normally.

Mark (internal monologue):

"They chose a life without me. A father chooses another child.

And I am left with pieces… pieces sharp enough to cut the world.

Larry looks over at Mark.

He sees anger… but also pain.

Larry:

"You didn't sleep again, did you?"

Mark chuckles coldly.

Mark:

"Sleep is for people with peace. I don't qualify."

Larry doesn't reply immediately.

Larry:

"Pain isn't a badge. Don't wear it as honor."

Mark turns his face away.

He doesn't want sympathy.

He wants control.

Scene 2 — Lunch Break Area

Mark eats alone.

Larry sits some seats away.

Other employees whisper.

Employee-1:

"Those two? Heard they never talk to anyone."

Employee-2:

"Some people carry storms inside them."

Mark hears.

His jaw tightens.

Suddenly, a senior staff member — Mr. Khurana — walks in.

Khurana (loud, arrogant):

"You boys… always gloomy.

This is office, not a funeral house.

Smile sometimes, or leave."

Mark stares up slowly.

Very slowly.

Mark:

"Sir… ever seen a storm smile?"

Office goes silent.

Larry drops his spoon, shocked.

Khurana:

"What did you say?"

Mark (cold smirk):

"Nothing. Just tired."

Khurana leaves, annoyed.

Larry leans closer.

Larry:

"You're starting to like the darkness too much."

Mark:

"Darkness is honest.

Light lies.

People in light left us."

Larry's eyes soften.

He wants to answer, but can't.

Scene 3 — City Bridge, Evening

After work, Mark stands at the bridge railing.

City lights shimmer in the river.

A cool wind brushes his face.

Mark (whispering):

"I won't break. I will rise.

And I will make them regret ignoring me."

A stranger passes by — a street poet, humming a line:

"Those abandoned by love become kings of their sorrow."

Mark smiles faintly.

A dangerous seed begins to grow inside him.

Scene 4 — Larry's Night

Larry sits in his cramped room.

A photo of his mother in his hands.

Larry (soft voice):

"I'm sorry, mom. I came late.

I thought I'd have time to make you proud…"

He clenches his fists.

Larry:

"They didn't want us.

But the world will know our names."

He wipes tears.

Not weak anymore… only determined.

Larry (inner voice).

"I will not run from pain.

I will build something from it."

Scene 5 — Rooftop — Later That Night

Mark is smoking on rooftop.

Larry arrives, surprised to find him there.

Larry:

"I didn't expect you here."

Mark:

"People fall asleep. We stay awake.

We are different."

Silence.

City hum behind them.

Larry:

"Mark… one request."

Mark:

"What?"

Larry:

"Don't let anger decide your life."

Mark laughs slightly — cold, tired.

Mark:

"Then who should decide?

Love? Hope? Those betrayed us."

Larry.

"No. We should decide.

Not our wounds."

Mark doesn't answer.

He just looks ahead at the city, emotion hidden under tight jaw.

Scene 6 — Small Spark

Suddenly Larry speaks again:

Larry:

"Someday, we'll build something.

A life that makes our parents regret losing us."

Mark turns slowly.

A flame lights in his eyes — ambition mixed with pain.

Mark:

"Yes…

One day."

Camera zooms on their eyes _

Two wounded boys staring at a cruel world, vowing to rise.

Fade.
