Allison's POV
"Okay," I nodded nervously as a guard told me Prince Ethan wanted me to make tea and bring it to his study. Ehhhh?! Why!
"What's with him? Didn't he say he's disgusted by me?" I mumbled as I walked toward the kitchen.
On my way, I overheard a conversation between the Queen and Prince Thomas.
"Why would I defend her, huh?" the Queen said. "So that he'll feel guilty and start showing her gratitude?"
"I just think it's unfair to treat her like that, since she had no idea you'd see the jolter," Thomas replied.
I couldn't help but laugh quietly. Prince Thomas really knows how to act. Anyone who doesn't know him would think he's an angel. But I know he's just doing all this to get into my pants. Pussy boy, I chuckled and walked away.
Well, it's better if she doesn't speak for me. I need Ethan's hatred until I leave next month. That's the only thing that can save me from the King and Queen.
After making the tea, the same guard led me to his study. He knocked for me because I was holding an expensive tray with a glass jug and cup. Breaking it would cost my entire family! So I have to be very careful.
"Come in," I heard his cold voice. I sighed deeply and pushed the door open with my back.
The place was decorated so lavishly, it almost amused me. Who would've thought my ex-boyfriend was secretly a prince?
I placed the tray on his table gently, bowed, and quickly turned to leave. I couldn't bear his sharp gaze.
"Who will pour it into the cup?"
"Oh… I'm sorry, sir… your Highness." I quickly stepped forward and started pouring his tea. His eyes stayed on me the whole time. After pouring with sweat, I bowed again and turned to leave. But…
"Did I ask you to leave?"
'Ahhh, what kind of problem is this?!' I screamed in my head. Being poor is such a curse!
"Who taught you how to make this tea?" he asked, glancing at it.
"Ahhh…" I paused. What should I even say? He never believes me anyway. "A woman said she'd teach me for free. She said I'd need it in the future," I replied nervously, I don't know why the warm vibes around him several years ago have disappeared. That old woman probably knew I'd end up a maid!
Ethan's eyes turned colder. "She must've been playing with your head."
I just nodded, even though I had no idea what he meant.
"I thought you'd become a successful businesswoman. Who knew you'd end up serving me for the rest of your life?" he smirked.
I gave him a blank look. Me? Serve you forever? In your dreams. The Queen already signed the papers, nothing will stop me from leaving next month.
"I'm glad you'll be there when I choose my queen next week. You'll be her personal maid and prepare the room for our wedding night."
I nodded quickly. "It's my duty to serve you, your Highness."
Ethan's face turned even colder. I sighed. What is it now?
He chuckled darkly. "You're not surprised, huh? You don't even care, right?"
This statement surprised me, but why should I care? "Who am I to think about that, your Highness?"
"Cut the crap, Allison," he snapped, slamming his hand on the table. "Talk to me like your schoolmate. Stop acting like a maid. Talk to me like your ex."
I rolled my eyes. Finally, "Fine. What do you want me to do, huh Ethan? Stop you from marrying? Why would I do that?"
Ethan looked at me and raised a brow. "Looks like someone's been dying for this moment."
I sighed. This was what I hated most about him, he read me too easily, even after all these years.
"I didn't expect that," he said coldly. "I just wanted to know what a green bitch like you is up to."
I smiled faintly. "You never believed me from the start, so why would I say anything now? Just do me a favour and keep your hatred."
Ethan sat back. "I'll make you regret betraying me, Allison," he said and picked up the tea.
"Yes, your Highness," I replied, switching back to my maid act.
"Get lost!" he said coldly.
I bowed and left the study hurriedly. Once the door shut behind me, I sighed. I don't even know why he suddenly hated me so much. But I'll endure it till next month. After that, I'll finally be free from him forever.
"Hmmmm, I guess you're missing your ex-boyfriend, aren't you?" Monica sneered, blocking my way.
I smiled. "Why would I miss the past? The only thing I miss about him is…" I leaned closer to her ear, "…his soft lips, his abs, and his sexy moans."
Monica blinked, both shocked and confused.
"Well, now that you showed the Queen my secret, I'm wondering if…" I paused with a smile, watching her face grow nervous.
"…if she knows that you're trying to frame me?" I said casually, twisting the topic.
Monica sighed in relief and laughed. "Where's your evidence? I was looking for your mother, but I remembered you hiding something the day I entered your room unannounced. Then I used that chance to search for it. Who knew your ex and our Crown Prince shared the same name?"
"Hmmm." I nodded. "Okay." Then I turned around.
"Wait!" Monica called out, still bothered about something. She probably expected me to get angry, but why would I? I have a bigger plan for her.
I turned back slowly. "Why are you shouting like that?"
She hesitated, but I knew what she wanted to ask, whether I knew about her little secret with Prince Thomas.
"No one will believe you, Allison," she said instead.
"I don't have time for you, Monica," I said, raising a brow and walked away.
