Chapter 116 - Chapter 116(last ch)The Forever We Found

[One Week Later /The Residence]

The past week had been unusually busy.

Ever since Taekyun had proposed to Haneul, the residence had been filled with discussions about the wedding.

The date.

The arrangements.

The clothes.

The guest list.

And most importantly, Taekyun's insistence that everything be ready as soon as possible.

He had waited five years.

He wasn't particularly interested in waiting any longer.

Haneul, on the other hand, still hadn't completely recovered from the fact that he was getting married.

Sometimes, he would look down at the ring on his finger and smile to himself.

Sometimes, he would suddenly remember Taekyun kneeling in front of him at the restaurant, and his cheeks would turn warm all over again.

And sometimes, when Taekyun caught him staring at the ring, he would deliberately hold Haneul's hand and ask.

"Still surprised?"

To which Haneul would immediately look away.

"No."

"Then why are you looking at it?"

"I just wanted to see."

"See what?"

Haneul would narrow his eyes.

"Taekyun."

And Taekyun would laugh quietly before pulling him into his arms.

It had become a new little habit between them.

One that Haneul was slowly learning to enjoy.

That morning, however, the residence was anything but peaceful.

"UMMA!"

Haneul had barely stepped out of the bathroom when Haru came rushing into the room.

He turned around immediately.

"What happened?"

Haru stopped in front of him, holding up two new dresses.

"Which one should I wear?"

Haneul blinked.

He looked at the dresses.

Then at his daughter.

"For what?"

Haru stared at him in disbelief.

"Umma! The wedding!"

"Oh."

Haneul smiled.

"Yes"

He took the dresses from her and looked at them carefully.

One was a soft pink dress, while the other was a pale blue one.

Haru watched him expectantly.

Haneul finally held up the pink dress.

"This one."

Haru tilted her head.

"Why?"

"Because you look beautiful in pink."

Haru's face immediately brightened.

"Really?"

Haneul nodded.

"Really."

She threw her arms around him.

"Then I'll wear this one!"

Haneul laughed softly and hugged her back.

"All right."

But just as Haru was about to leave, she suddenly turned around.

"Umma."

"Hmm?"

"Will you help me get ready on the wedding day?"

Haneul's expression softened.

"Of course..... I will."

"And you'll stay with me?"

Haneul paused.

Haru wasn't asking about the wedding anymore.

He could hear it in her voice.

She was asking something else.

Something that had remained in her heart for five years.

Haneul gently cupped her cheek.

"I'm not going .....anywhere, Haru."

Her eyes softened.

"Promise?"

Haneul smiled.

"Promise."

Haru immediately hugged him again.

Then she ran out of the room, shouting that she had already decided what she would wear.

Haneul watched her disappear.

A quiet smile remained on his lips.

He had missed so much.

Her growing years.

Her little habits.

The countless ordinary mornings that should have belonged to them.

But now, he could finally be here for the mornings that were still waiting.

And that was enough to make him grateful.

A small voice suddenly came from the doorway.

"Umma?"

Haneul turned.

Taeha stood there, holding a little toy car.

His hair was slightly messy, and his shirt was tucked unevenly into his trousers.

Haneul immediately smiled.

"Taeha?"

The little boy walked toward him.

Then he held up his toy.

"It broke."

Haneul crouched in front of him.

"Let me see."

Taeha handed it over.

Haneul examined the car before discovering that one of its wheels had come loose.

"Oh, I see."

He carefully fixed it.

"There."

Taeha watched him turn the wheel.

His face brightened.

"It works!"

Haneul smiled.

"It does."

Taeha took the car back.

But instead of immediately running away, he remained standing in front of Haneul.

Haneul tilted his head.

"What is it?"

Taeha hesitated.

Then he quietly asked,

"Can I play... with you?"

Haneul's heart softened.

"Of course."

Taeha moved closer.

After a moment, he sat beside him on the edge of the bed.

Haneul gently brushed his hair away from his forehead.

Taeha didn't move away.

He simply leaned a little closer.

For Haneul, that small gesture was more precious than he could explain.

He didn't need Taeha to understand everything immediately.

He didn't need him to remember years they had never spent together.

He only wanted the little boy to know that there would always be a place for him beside his mother.

And slowly, Taeha was beginning to understand.

Not through explanations.

But through mornings like this.

Through a broken toy being fixed.

Through someone who always answered when he called.

Through a hand that never pushed him away.

[The Study / Later That Morning]

Taekyun was reviewing the final wedding arrangements when Haneul entered the study.

He looked up.

His expression immediately softened.

"Come here."

Haneul walked toward him.

"Are you.....busy?"

"Not anymore."

Taekyun closed the folder in front of him.

Haneul glanced at it.

There were papers everywhere.

"You look.... very busy."

"I was."

"Then why did.... you close everything?"

Taekyun reached for his hand.

"Because you're here."

Haneul stared at him.

Then he sighed

"You....don't...need...too."

Taekyun smiled.

"Not a big deal. Anything for....my long lost wife."

Haneul immediately blushed.

"Taekyun!"

Taekyun laughed quietly and pulled him closer.

Haneul settled beside him.

For a while, they simply sat together.

Then Taekyun looked down at their joined hands.

"Are you nervous?"

Haneul blinked.

"About what?"

"Our wedding."

Haneul's smile slowly faded into a thoughtful expression.

"Mmmmm."

Taekyun nodded.

"That's normal."

Haneul looked at him.

"Are you?"

Taekyun considered the question.

"Yes."

Haneul's eyes widened.

"You?"

Taekyun raised an eyebrow.

"Why are you so surprised?"

"Because you're... Taekyun."

"And?"

"You never.... look nervous."

Taekyun gave him a faint smile.

"That's because I usually know what I'm doing."

He paused.

"But this time, I'm asking the most important person in my life to stand beside me in front of everyone we love."

His thumb gently brushed across Haneul's ring.

"Of course I'm nervous."

Haneul's eyes softened.

Taekyun looked into them.

"I want you to remember this day happily."

He paused.

"I don't want you to feel as though you're making up for lost time."

Haneul went still.

Taekyun continued gently.

"You don't owe me a wedding because I waited for you."

"You don't owe me anything because I searched for you."

His voice became quieter.

"I want you to marry me because you want to spend your life with me."

Haneul looked down at their hands.

Then he slowly lifted his gaze.

"I do."

Taekyun smiled.

"I know."

"No."

Haneul shook his head.

"I want you..... to hear it."

Taekyun's expression softened.

Haneul took a breath.

"I want to marry..... you because ....I love you."

His voice trembled slightly.

"I want to wake up..... beside you. I want to watch our children

...grow up. I want to argue ....with you about stupid things ....and laugh with you .....about things nobody else understands."

A small smile appeared on his face.

"I want ordinary ....days with you."

He looked directly at Taekyun.

"I don't want to spend the rest of my life being afraid ...that something will take .....me away from you."

His fingers tightened around Taekyun's.

"I want to live."

Taekyun remained silent.

Haneul smiled through the moisture gathering in his eyes.

"And I want to live with you."

For several seconds, Taekyun simply looked at him.

Then he pulled Haneul into his arms.

He held him close, resting his cheek against Haneul's hair.

"Then that's what we'll do."

Haneul closed his eyes.

Taekyun pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead.

"No more trying to earn your place here."

He tightened his arms around him.

"You already have it."

[The Night Before the Wedding]

The residence was finally quiet.

Most of the arrangements had been completed, and the children had gone to bed after spending the entire evening discussing the wedding.

Haru had asked approximately a hundred questions.

Taeha had asked whether there would be cake.

Seoah had fallen asleep halfway through the conversation.

And Taekyun had patiently answered everything until Haru finally declared that her father was becoming boring.

Now, Haneul stood beside the bedroom window, looking at the lights outside.

Tomorrow.

He would marry Taekyun tomorrow.

The thought still felt a little unreal.

He looked down at the ring on his finger.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts.

"Come in."

Taekyun entered carrying two cups of warm tea.

He handed one to Haneul before standing beside him.

"Still awake?"

Haneul nodded.

"I couldn't sleep."

Taekyun glanced at him.

"Why?"

Haneul gave a small smile.

"Nervous...a little."

Taekyun placed his cup on the nearby table.

Then he held out his hand.

"Come with me."

Haneul looked confused.

"Where?"

"Somewhere."

Haneul narrowed his eyes.

"Taekyun."

"Trust me."

Haneul sighed.

But he took his hand.

Taekyun led him out of the bedroom and down the quiet hallway.

They stopped outside the children's rooms.

Taekyun opened Haru's door slightly.

Inside, Haru was asleep, one arm wrapped around a pillow.

Her blanket had slipped to the floor.

Haneul immediately stepped inside and carefully covered her again.

He brushed her hair away from her face.

Then he whispered,

"Sleep well, my girl."

Taekyun watched him silently.

When Haneul turned around, Taekyun gently took his hand again.

They moved to Taeha's room.

The little boy was sleeping with his stuffed animal held tightly against his chest.

His lips were slightly parted.

One small hand rested beneath his cheek.

Haneul smiled.

He gently adjusted his blanket.

Taeha stirred.

For a moment, Haneul froze, afraid of waking him.

But the little boy merely turned his face toward the warmth of Haneul's hand.

His eyes remained closed.

Then, in his sleep, he murmured,

"Umma..."

Haneul's breath caught.

Taekyun stood quietly behind him.

Haneul slowly bent down and kissed Taeha's forehead.

"I'm here."

The little boy settled again.

Haneul remained beside the bed for another moment.

Then he stood and followed Taekyun out.

Neither spoke until they returned to their room.

Haneul sat on the edge of the bed.

His eyes were still slightly wet.

Taekyun sat beside him.

"That's why I brought you there."

Haneul looked at him.

Taekyun smiled softly.

"Tomorrow isn't just about us getting married."

He took Haneul's hand.

"It's about the life we've built together."

Haneul nodded.

Taekyun gently lifted their joined hands.

"And no matter what happens tomorrow, these two little people will still be waiting for you the next morning."

His smile softened.

Haneul leaned against him.

For a long time, they sat together without speaking.

Then Haneul quietly asked,

"Taekyun?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you think we .....can really be happy?"

Taekyun turned toward him.

Haneul continued before he could answer.

"I know we're together now. ...I know we're getting married... I know everyone is here."

He swallowed.

"But sometimes, I still feel

....as though I'm going to wake up... and discover that I... dreamed all of this."

Taekyun listened carefully.

Then he took Haneul's face gently between his hands.

"Look at me."

Haneul met his gaze.

"This is real."

Taekyun's voice was steady.

"You're here. I'm here. Our children are sleeping in the next room."

He brushed his thumb across Haneul's cheek.

"And tomorrow, I'll marry you."

A faint smile appeared on Haneul's lips.

Taekyun leaned his forehead against Haneul's.

"We can't change what happened to us."

He paused.

"But we can decide what happens next."

Haneul closed his eyes.

Taekyun kissed his forehead.

"Now, sleep."

Haneul gave a tiny nod.

"I can't....."

"Then I'll stay awake with you."

Haneul smiled.

"You have work tomorrow."

"I'll manage."

Taekyun pulled him into his arms.

Haneul rested his head against his chest.

[Wedding Day / Seoul]

The morning arrived with clear skies and soft sunlight.

The wedding venue had been decorated with white flowers, delicate greenery, and warm lights.

Nothing was excessively extravagant.

Taekyun had wanted the day to feel beautiful without becoming overwhelming.

Haneul had agreed.

He didn't need a grand celebration to prove that he loved Taekyun.

He only wanted the people who mattered to them to be there.

And they were.

Jina and Nayeon arrived early.

Bora and Lihan were already helping the staff.

Mina was keeping Seoah entertained while Haru repeatedly checked her own dress.

Taeha stood beside Taekyun, looking around with wide eyes.

"Abbuji?"

Taekyun looked down.

"Yes?"

"Is this where you marry Umma?"

Taekyun smiled.

"Yes."

Taeha considered that.

Then he nodded seriously.

"Okay."

A moment later, he tugged at Taekyun's sleeve again.

"Will there be cake?"

Taekyun looked at him.

"Yes."

Taeha immediately smiled.

"Then it's good."

Taekyun laughed quietly and lifted him into his arms.

"That's all you care about?"

Taeha shook his head.

"No."

He looked toward the room where Haneul was getting ready.

"I want Umma to be happy too."

Taekyun's expression softened.

He kissed the top of Taeha's head.

"He will be."

[The Bridal Room]

Haneul sat in front of the mirror while a stylist made the final adjustments to his clothes.

He wore a beautifully tailored ivory suit, simple and elegant.

His dark hair had been styled neatly, with a few soft strands falling across his forehead.

The ring Taekyun had given him rested on his finger.

He kept looking at it.

Then smiling.

Then looking at it again.

Jina noticed.

She stood behind him and gently placed her hands on his shoulders.

"Oppa."

Haneul looked up at her in the mirror.

"Hmm?"

"If you keep looking at that ring, you'll wear it out."

Haneul immediately looked away.

"I wasn't ....looking at it."

Jina raised an eyebrow.

"Really?"

Haneul sighed.

"I..."

Jina laughed and hugged him from behind.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Then Jina's smile softened.

"You look happy."

Haneul looked at himself in the mirror.

He thought about the five years that had passed.

About the things he could remember.

About the things that had slowly faded.

About Doyeon, whose quiet sacrifice had given him the chance to return to this life.

He couldn't remember everything anymore.

Some memories had become distant, their details slipping away like a dream after waking.

But he remembered enough to understand that he had been loved in more than one way.

Some people had loved him by staying beside him.

Some had loved him by waiting.

And some had loved him by making sacrifices he might never fully understand.

His eyes grew moist.

Jina immediately leaned forward.

"Oppa? What's wrong?"

Haneul shook his head.

"Nothing."

He smiled at her through the tears.

"I'm just grateful."

Jina's expression softened.

She gently wiped the corner of his eye.

"Then don't cry too much."

Haneul laughed.

"I'll try."

Jina kissed his cheek.

"Good."

Then she stepped back and looked him over.

"Now, you must go out there and marry that impatient man."

Haneul's cheeks warmed.

"He's not impatient."

Jina stared at him.

"Oppa."

Haneul lowered his gaze.

"A little."

Jina burst out laughing.

And for the first time that morning, Haneul's nervousness eased.

[The Wedding Ceremony]

The guests had settled into their seats.

Taekyun stood at the front, dressed in a perfectly tailored dark suit.

His expression was composed.

His posture was straight.

But his fingers betrayed him.

He kept adjusting his cufflinks.

Then his watch.

Then his sleeves.

Nayeon, seated in the front row beside Jina, noticed immediately.

She leaned toward her wife.

"Look at him."

Jina smiled.

"He's nervous."

"He's been reviewing the wedding schedule for a week."

"And?"

Nayeon gave a small laugh.

"And now he's afraid the groom won't show up."

Jina immediately covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing.

Taekyun glanced toward them.

Both women straightened instantly.

He narrowed his eyes.

Nayeon smiled innocently.

Jina looked toward the ceiling.

Taekyun sighed.

Then the music began.

The doors opened.

And Haneul appeared.

For a moment, Taekyun forgot everything.

The guests.

The music.

The ceremony.

Everything.

He could only look at Haneul.

At the person he had loved through years of uncertainty.

At the person he had searched for when everyone else told him to prepare for the worst.

At the person who was finally walking toward him.

Haneul's eyes found Taekyun's.

His steps slowed slightly.

Taekyun smiled.

A small, reassuring smile.

The same smile he had given Haneul countless times when he was frightened.

The same smile that had told him he wasn't alone.

Haneul's lips curved upward.

And he continued walking

When he finally reached Taekyun, the older man held out his hand.

Haneul placed his hand into it.

Taekyun's fingers closed around his.

Warm.

Steady.

Familiar.

Taekyun leaned slightly closer.

"You came."

Haneul blinked.

Then he laughed softly.

"I.... I came."

Taekyun's eyes softened.

"I know."

He squeezed Haneul's hand.

"I just wanted to hear you say it."

Haneul shook his head affectionately.

Taekyun smiled.

The ceremony began.

The officiant spoke about commitment, partnership, and the life two people chose to build together.

Haneul listened carefully.

Taekyun, however, kept looking at him.

At one point, Haneul whispered,

"Stop..... staring."

Taekyun whispered back,

"No."

Haneul's cheeks warmed.

"Taekyun!"

Taekyun smiled.

"I've waited long enough to look at you like this."

Haneul's expression softened.

And he let him.

When the time came for their vows, Taekyun turned fully toward Haneul.

He took both of his hands.

For a few seconds, he didn't speak.

Then he took a breath.

"Haneul."

His voice carried clearly through the quiet room.

"I used to believe that protecting the people I loved meant keeping them close enough that nothing could hurt them."

He smiled faintly.

"I thought that if I planned carefully enough, watched carefully enough, and prepared for every possibility, I could keep everything I loved safe."

His fingers tightened gently around Haneul's.

"Then life taught me that I couldn't control everything."

His expression softened.

"I couldn't prevent every loss. I couldn't answer every question. And I couldn't promise that our days would always be easy."

He paused.

"But I can promise you this."

Taekyun looked directly into Haneul's eyes.

"I will listen to you."

"I will trust you."

"I will give you room to grow, room to change, and room to be yourself."

His voice became quieter.

"I won't ask you to forget your past for my sake. I won't ask you to become the person you were five years ago."

He smiled.

"I want to know the person standing in front of me today."

Haneul's eyes filled with tears.

Taekyun gently brushed his thumb across Haneul's knuckles.

"I want to grow old with you."

"I want to see our children become adults."

"I want to argue with you over breakfast, complain when you steal my side of the bed, and spend far too much money buying things our children don't need."

A quiet laugh passed through the guests.

Haneul laughed through his tears.

Taekyun's smile grew warmer.

"I want ordinary days with you."

He paused.

"And when difficult days come,..... I want you to remember... that you don't have to ....face them alone."

His eyes softened completely.

"You were never someone .....I wanted to keep because I was afraid of losing you."

"You are someone I want to..... stand beside because I love you."

Taekyun took a breath.

"Haneul, I choose you."

"Today."

"Tomorrow."

"And every day I am given after that."

Haneul could barely see through his tears.

Taekyun smiled at him.

"Now it's your turn."

Haneul laughed softly and wiped his cheeks.

"You're making..... this difficult."

Taekyun raised an eyebrow.

"Would you prefer..... that I stop?"

"No!"

The guests laughed.

Haneul took a shaky breath.

Then he looked at Taekyun.

The man who had once seemed impossible to approach.

The man who had become his home.

The man who had waited for him, searched for him, and still welcomed him back without demanding that he explain every missing piece of his life.

Haneul held his hands more tightly.

"Taekyun."

His voice trembled.

"I don't know if ....if I'll ever be able..... to explain everything I feel for you."

He smiled through his tears.

"Sometimes, I think I've ...already told you everything."

"But then you do something small..., and I realize there's still... so much more I want to say."

Taekyun watched him silently.

Haneul continued.

"You have seen me ....when I was happy. You have seen me ....when I was frightened. You have seen.... me when I didn't know ....who I was or where I belonged."

His eyes softened.

"And you never.... made me feel that ....I had to earn your love."

He swallowed.

"I can't promise.... that I'll always be... brave."

"I can't promise ....that I'll never be.... afraid."

"And I can't promise ....that I'll remember ..... every part of ....my life perfectly."

Taekyun's expression softened even further.

"But I can promise that I'll keep choosing you."

Haneul smiled.

"I'll choose you..... when life is easy."

"I'll choose you ....when things ...become difficult."

"I'll choose you.... when we're.... young enough to run after ....our children."

He laughed softly.

"And I'll choose.... you when we're old ....enoug.

h to complain ....about our backs."

The guests burst into laughter.

Taekyun shook his head, smiling.

Haneul looked at him affectionately.

"I want to grow with you."

"I want to learn with you."

"And I want to spend the rest of my life discovering ....all the ordinary things I once thought.... I had lost."

His voice became quieter.

"Thank you for waiting for me."

"Thank you for finding me."

"And thank you for giving... me a place to return to."

He squeezed Taekyun's hands.

"I choose you too."

"Always."

For a moment, Taekyun couldn't speak.

Then he leaned forward and gently pressed his forehead against Haneul's.

The officiant smiled warmly.

And when the final words were spoken, Taekyun slipped the wedding ring onto Haneul's finger.

Haneul did the same for him.

Two rings.

Two hands.

One promise.

The officiant smiled.

"You may seal your vows."

Taekyun looked at Haneul.

Haneul looked back.

Then Taekyun gently cupped his cheek and kissed his forehead before pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

The room erupted into applause.

Haru cheered loudly.

Jina wiped her eyes.

Nayeon held her hand.

Bora cried openly while Lihan passed her a tissue.

Mina clapped so enthusiastically that Seoah startled awake.

And Taeha looked around at everyone before turning toward his father.

"Abbuji?"

Taekyun pulled away from Haneul just enough to look at him.

"Yes?"

Taeha smiled.

He looked at Haneul.

"Now we can all go home together."

Haneul's expression softened.

He opened his arms.

Taeha immediately ran toward him.

Haneul caught him and lifted him into a hug.

Haru joined them.

Taekyun wrapped his arms around all three.

And surrounded by the laughter of their family, Haneul finally understood something.

He hadn't needed a perfect life.

He hadn't needed every question answered.

He hadn't needed to recover every memory.

He had needed a chance to live.

And now, he had one.

[After the Ceremony/Evening]

The reception was filled with music, conversation, and laughter.

Haru had already eaten two slices of cake.

Taeha was working on his own third slice.

Seoah had fallen asleep in Mina's arms again.

Jina and Nayeon were dancing together, while Bora and Lihan argued over whether he had stepped on her foot.

Mina declared that she was the only sensible person left in the room.

Nobody believed her.

Taekyun, meanwhile, had barely let go of Haneul's hand all evening.

At one point, Haneul looked down at their joined fingers.

"Taekyun."

"Hmm?"

"You can .....let go, you know."

Taekyun glanced at him.

"Why?"

Haneul laughed.

"Because I need .....to eat."

Taekyun looked at the plate in front of him.

Then at Haneul.

Without releasing his hand, he picked up a piece of food with his other hand and held it toward Haneul.

"Eat."

Haneul stared at him.

Then he laughed.

"You're ridiculous."

"Eat first. Complain ....afterward."

Haneul took the bite.

Taekyun smiled with satisfaction.

Across the table, Jina noticed them.

She leaned toward Nayeon.

"Look at Oppa."

Nayeon glanced over.

"He's been waiting five years. Let him be."

Jina smiled.

"He's going to be like this forever."

Nayeon looked at Taekyun, who was now adjusting Haneul's sleeve.

Then she looked at Jina.

"Probably."

Jina rested her head against Nayeon's shoulder.

"Good."

Nayeon kissed her hair.

"Very good."

[Later That Night /Outside the Venue]

The reception had finally ended.

The children had been taken home with Bora and Mina, who had promised to put them to bed.

Jina and Nayeon had left shortly before them, holding hands as they walked toward their car.

Lihan had gone to arrange the remaining transport.

And for the first time all day, Taekyun and Haneul were alone.

They stood outside the venue beneath the soft glow of the lights.

Haneul looked down at his wedding ring.

Then at Taekyun's.

He smiled.

"We're married."

Taekyun nodded.

"We are."

Haneul looked up at him.

"Really married."

Taekyun laughed softly.

"Do you want me to show you the certificate?"

Haneul immediately shook his head.

"No!"

Taekyun smiled and wrapped an arm around his waist.

"Then believe it."

Haneul leaned against him.

For a while, they watched the lights shining across the city.

Then Haneul quietly spoke.

"Taekyun?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you think Doyeon would be happy?"

Taekyun's expression softened.

He knew who Haneul meant.

For a moment, he didn't answer.

Then he gently took Haneul's hand.

"I think he would be glad you're safe."

Haneul looked down.

"I wish I could remember more."

Taekyun nodded.

"I know."

His thumb moved slowly over Haneul's ring.

"But you don't have to force yourself."

Haneul remained quiet.

Taekyun continued.

"Whatever you remember, whatever fades, it doesn't change what he did for you."

He looked into Haneul's eyes.

"Someone helped you find your way home."

"And you made it."

Haneul's eyes became moist.

Taekyun pulled him closer.

"You can be grateful without hurting yourself trying to remember every detail."

Haneul closed his eyes.

After a moment, he nodded.

"Thank you."

Taekyun kissed his forehead.

"You're welcome."

They stood together for a little longer.

Then Haneul looked up.

"Can we go.... home now?"

Taekyun smiled.

"Of course."

He opened the car door for him.

Haneul slipped inside, still holding Taekyun's hand until the last possible moment.

Taekyun laughed quietly before getting into the driver's seat.

As the car moved through the streets of Seoul, Haneul leaned back and watched the lights pass by.

His wedding ring caught the light whenever he moved his hand.

He smiled to himself.

He had once believed that returning home meant recovering everything he had lost.

Now he understood that home wasn't a place where nothing had changed.

It was a place where he was still loved, even after everything had changed.

And he was going home.

To his husband.

To his children.

To the life waiting for him.

[The Residence/ Late Night]

The house was quiet when they arrived.

Taekyun carried Haneul's belongings inside while Haneul went to check on the children.

Haru was sleeping peacefully.

Taeha had somehow managed to sleep sideways across his bed, his stuffed animal resting near his feet.

Haneul smiled at each of them before quietly closing their doors.

When he returned to the bedroom, Taekyun was waiting for him.

He had changed into comfortable clothes and was sitting on the bed.

The moment Haneul entered, he held out his hand.

"Come here, wify"

Haneul stopped.

His cheeks immediately turned pink.

"Taekyun!"

Taekyun smiled innocently.

"What?"

"Don't call me that suddenly!"

"Why?"

Haneul looked away.

"Because..."

He couldn't finish.

Taekyun stood and walked toward him.

"Because you're shy?"

"No."

Taekyun raised an eyebrow.

Haneul sighed.

"I...am.."

Taekyun laughed softly and pulled him into his arms.

"My little wife."

Haneul buried his face against Taekyun's chest.

"You're doing it on purpose."

"Of course."

Haneul hit his shoulder lightly.

Taekyun caught his hand and kissed his knuckles.

Then his expression softened.

"Are you happy?"

Haneul lifted his head.

He looked at Taekyun.

At the man standing in front of him.

At the ring on his finger.

At the room that had slowly become his own again.

Then he smiled.

"Very."

Taekyun's eyes softened.

"Good."

He gently brushed Haneul's hair away from his forehead.

"Because I'm going to keep making you happy."

Haneul smiled.

"You don't have to make me happy every second."

Taekyun looked at him.

"Why not?"

"Because life isn't like that."

Taekyun considered this.

Then he nodded.

"Fine."

He leaned closer.

"Then I'll make you happy whenever I can."

Haneul laughed softly.

"That's better."

Taekyun kissed his forehead.

Then he pulled the blanket aside.

"Come on. It's late."

Haneul climbed into bed.

Taekyun settled beside him and immediately wrapped an arm around his waist.

Haneul turned toward him.

For a while, they simply looked at each other.

Then Haneul quietly asked,

"Taekyun?"

"Hmm?"

"Thank you for not giving up on me."

Taekyun's expression changed.

He gently touched Haneul's cheek.

"I never thought of it as giving up or not giving up."

Haneul looked at him.

Taekyun continued softly.

"I loved you."

He paused.

"And I wanted you home."

Haneul's eyes filled with tears.

Taekyun wiped them away before they could fall.

"That's all."

Haneul moved closer and wrapped his arms around him.

Taekyun held him tightly.

They remained like that for a long time.

Then, just as Haneul was beginning to fall asleep, a small voice came from the doorway.

"Umma?"

Both men turned.

Taeha stood there in his pajamas, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

His stuffed animal was tucked beneath one arm.

Haneul immediately sat up.

"Taeha? What's wrong?"

The little boy looked toward the bed.

"I woke up."

Taekyun moved aside.

"Come here."

Taeha climbed onto the bed.

He crawled toward Haneul and settled beside him, placing his head against Haneul's arm.

Haneul gently pulled the blanket over him.

"Are you comfortable?"

Taeha nodded sleepily.

Then he looked up.

"Umma?"

Haneul's heart softened.

"Yes?"

"Tomorrow... will you eat breakfast with me?"

Haneul stared at him for a moment.

Then he smiled.

"Of course."

Taeha nodded.

Satisfied, he closed his eyes.

Within minutes, his breathing became slow and even.

Haneul looked down at him.

Then he looked at Taekyun.

Taekyun was already watching him.

Neither spoke.

Taekyun simply reached across Taeha and took Haneul's hand.

Their wedding rings touched.

Haneul smiled.

Five years ago, he had disappeared from this home.

He had lost time he could never recover.

He had carried memories of another world, and eventually made the painful decision to let some of them fade.

There were still unanswered questions.

There were still things he might never understand.

And somewhere, in another world, a young officer had paid a terrible price for helping him return.

Haneul would carry gratitude for that sacrifice for as long as he could.

But he no longer needed to remain trapped between the life he had lost and the life he had been given back.

He could love what had been.

He could grieve what was gone.

And he could still be happy with what remained.

His daughter was growing up beside him.

His son was sleeping in his arms.

His husband was holding his hand.

And tomorrow morning, Taeha would ask him for breakfast.

Haru would probably come running into the room.

Seoah would wake everyone with her little cries.

Taekyun would complain about the noise while secretly smiling.

Life would continue.

Not perfectly.

Not without difficulties.

But together.

Haneul gently kissed Taeha's forehead.

Then he looked at Taekyun.

"Good night, my husband."

Taekyun's smile softened.

"Good night, Haneul."

He pressed a kiss to Haneul's forehead before settling beside him.

Outside, the city continued shining beneath the night sky.

Inside, three people slept beneath the same blanket, their hands resting close together.

And for the first time in a very long time, Haneul didn't wonder what tomorrow might take away from him.

He simply looked forward to waking up.

Because somewhere between the years he had lost and the future he had chosen, he had finally found something worth staying for.

Not a perfect world.

Not an unbroken past.

Just a home filled with people who loved him.

And a tomorrow he no longer had to face alone.

The End.
