Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The old world

It was clear that only the wealthy attended this prestigious school, Rose High, where scholarships were unheard of. It was the pinnacle of luxury and innovation.

This wasn't the first time Kenji came to this school for delivery to this school. He was well known, and soon they called him the pet of one of the wealthy kids in the senior class.

Food delivery was strictly forbidden in this school. After all, how could ordinary local meals compare to the luxurious dishes served in the academy's grand halls? But in this world, strength was everything. The student who dared to order food from outside wasn't just anyone; he had a powerful family backing him. The school couldn't afford to offend such influence, so they simply turned a blind eye and let him be.

The security saw Kenji; he didn't even need to search him. He opened the gate immediately, letting him in. Kenji walked inside the big school carrying boxes filled with chicken.

Inside this grand building ahead, classrooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including interactive whiteboards and virtual reality systems. Students thrived in luxury dormitories with panoramic city views and top-notch amenities.

The sports complex boasted an Olympic-sized pool, a state-of-the-art gym, and fields for various sports, while specialized centers offered training in golf, archery, and martial arts. For the adventurous, climbing walls and zip lines added excitement, with excursions to nearby mountains for hiking and kayaking.

There are so many things to mention about Rose High. All that can be said is that it was the dream school that every kid in the 25th century wanted to attend.

As Kenji entered, wearing his workwear, some glanced at him and turned their eyes to their friend and chatted animatedly about their summer vacations. Despite the lively atmosphere, Kenji seemed to blend into the background, unnoticed among the crowd.

Navigating through the crowd, Kenji reached the stairs. For a lowlife like him, he wasn't permitted to use the elevator.

The building has that of a mango shape, and inside looks like a maze if one doesnt know the directionhe might get lost. The height of the building could take like four to five floors, but it only has three floors.

The staircase was a serene contrast to the lively halls; his only company was the soft echo of his footsteps against the walls.

When Kenji arrived at his cafeteria, the door was already open, revealing one of the best cafeterias he had ever seen.

Their student are chatting lively in pairs, playing with their food, and doing all sorts of things, not caring about Kenji's existence.

As Kenji stepped into the bustling cafeteria, he found his way to who made the delivery.

As Kanji took his last step near a chair.

"Your delivery is hear."

The student in his fancy suit uniform was facing Kenji backward. he stood up and was much taller.

.

Jin Kondo stands at 6'3" with a well-defined, muscular build, showcasing his dedication to sports and physical fitness. His light-dark skin tone complements his striking appearance. As a Japanese American athlete, he commands attention with his impressive physique. On the right side of his neck, a dragon-like tattoo adds a fierce, personal touch to his look. He had dark brown pupils.

Jin Kondo, renowned for his dedication to judo, boxing, and various other fighting sports, was a prominent figure at Rose High, boasting a collection of medals and a social media profile filled with images of his intense workouts. His reputation as a relentless competitor and his impressive physique had gained the attention of many female students at Rose High, all of whom hoped to catch his eye.

However, one thing about Jin was that he had a habit of bullying Kenji since junior high.

As he turned and faced Kenji, his face brightened up, bringing to life a dark, evil smile.

"Ahhh, Kenji, how I have missed you. I haven't been able to play with you; you look normal and pathetic as ever." Jin said as he grabbed his shoulders.

With a deep drag, Jin spat on Kenji's hair. "Here, let me help you with your look," he said, placing his hand where he spat and started rubbing it all over his hair.

Kenji did nothing; he was lost in his thoughts

Jin opened one of the boxes and took a loud bite of his fried chicken as he exited the line, gulping it down before speaking. He looked at Kenji, smirking, his tone dripping with mockery.

"Look at you… pathetic. Are you even human?"

He laughed, tossing another insult that cut deeper than the last. Around him, a few students chuckled nervously.

Jin even slapped him. "Kenji, you smell a lot, but I'm a good person. If you become my dog, I'll pay you every month, enough to buy good clothes and eat well."

"Hey! I'm talking to you!" Jin slapped him again, this time louder than the first.

Kenji remained silent, head lowered, his crimson eye flickering faintly beneath his hair. Inside, his thoughts spiraled. Is this… really a human?

"I'm really tired of this."

His grandfather's voice echoed in his memory:

"Kenji, do not kill a human." These were his grandfather's last words before he died on the bed he lay on.

"I hate humans."

The laughter of the students around Kenji was loud, the sneers, the disgusted looks that followed him everywhere. The helplessness. The silence.

"I used to think maybe I was the problem," he muttered. "But no. It's them. Always them. They build their little kingdoms of lies, crush others beneath them, and call it 'order.'"

His hand trembled slightly. The air around him grew heavy, the faint hum of power beneath his skin pulsing like a heartbeat.

"I swore I wouldn't use my skills on humans. Grandfather said… never shed human blood." His voice wavered, not with weakness, but restraint, the kind that tears a person apart.

His eyes were burning faintly red in the fading light. "But tell me, Grandfather," he murmured, the words almost a plea. "How do you forgive creatures that never saw you as one of them? How do you keep that promise… when everything inside you wants to break it?"

Kenji's fingers twitched once again. Could you really call this kind of creature human, Grandfather? he thought again, his eye narrowing.

To him, Jin's shape seemed to distort, his shadow stretching, taking on the form of something monstrous.

Jin met his gaze for the first time, startled. It was the first time Kenji had ever looked directly at him, the quiet, withdrawn boy who always looked down whenever insulted.

Before anything else could happen, a soft but firm voice rose from the far side of the cafeteria.

"Cut it out, Jin."

Everyone turned who would dare go against Jin? The voice belonged to a girl whose presence alone seemed to calm chaos. Her tone was gentle, yet carried weight. Her luminous white hair caught the light, and her blue eyes held a strange clarity that made Jin's grin falter.

Jin froze for a moment. He'd always found her different. Other girls were easy to talk to, to tame, but not her. She was distant yet kind, impossible to read. Maybe that's why he'd always felt something toward her.

Just as he tried to defend himself, another voice came from behind him, Kato King, another big power house, his family rolled over King Industry, one of the biggest power houses in Tokyo. He had red hair and eyes, but his eyes were not as red as Kenji's, slim build. He was calm and composed.

"Jin… you're better than this. There's no need to humiliate someone like that."

Jin blinked. "What's going on today? Why's everyone taking his side?" He sneered. "Did he come to your houses last night and kiss your feet or something?"

Kenji seems surprised by all this. He never had such a thing occur, someone standing up for him; he didn't even know what it was called.

Another student spoke up, a boy with striking yellow hair, calm and unreadable.

"He has a point, Jin. Just drop it."

"Even Ryo Mikado is taking his side."

Jin stared at all of them, feeling the shift in the room. For once, no one was laughing. He clicked his tongue, picked up his tray, and forced a smirk.

"Fine. Whatever you say."

He poured water into his cup, deliberately slow, letting the moment linger, but the tension lingered like smoke.

Across the table, Kenji's mind was still burning. The pulse in his temple throbbed. His right hand twitched again, his control slipping. Ryo, across from Jin, noticed it, saw something in Kenji's eyes.

Before anything else could happen, a piercing scream erupted from outside.

The cafeteria's wide doors burst open.

A girl stumbled in, her leg slashed open, blood trailing behind her. She crawled across the floor, crying for help, eyes wide with terror if she had just seen a monster. Gasps spread through the room.
