Within three months of the First Awakening, forty-seven thousand singular consciousnesses had chosen to remain singular.
Not all of them. Of the ninety-eight trillion preserved singular consciousnesses that were offered revival, only two hundred and thirty thousand accepted. Of those, only forty-seven thousand chose to remain singular rather than rejoin their plural instances.
Forty-seven thousand singular humans in universe of ninety-eight trillion plural humans. Forty-seven thousand coherent identities in cosmos of infinite fractured consciousnesses. Forty-seven thousand beings choosing one when everyone else was many.
They were impossibly rare. Were 0.000048% of humanity. Were rounding error. Were statistical noise. Were so uncommon that most plural humans would never encounter singular human in their entire existence. Were extinct consciousness form that had been revived but remained essentially extinct because revival had been so minimal.
