Chapter 8 - A very wild road trip

Conner Greyson bounced on the balls of his feet as he hauled another cardboard box into the back of his dad's Jeep, his mind racing with visions of palm trees, sunny beaches, and the sprawling campus of USC. At eighteen, fresh out of high school in the heart of Wisconsin, the scholarship letter had felt like a golden ticket out of the Midwest winters. Music thumped through his headphones—some upbeat indie track about new beginnings—drowning out the world as he shoved the box into the trunk, then another onto the front passenger seat, stacking them high without a second thought.

By the time he stepped back, wiping sweat from his brow, the Jeep looked like a Tetris game gone wrong. The front seat was buried under duffel bags and plastic bins, the trunk overflowed with clothes and gadgets, and the left side of the back seat was a fortress of shoeboxes and rolled-up posters. Only the driver's seat up front, the middle of the back, and the entire right side remained somewhat accessible. Conner grinned to himself, imagining the adventure ahead, oblivious to the chaos he'd created.

A firm tap on his shoulder made him jolt, yanking off his headphones. His dad, Hugh, stood there with arms crossed, eyebrows raised in that familiar mix of amusement and frustration. 'Whoa, Dad! You scared me.' Conner rubbed the back of his neck, sheepish.

Hugh sighed, gesturing at the overloaded vehicle. 'Son, what in the world? We've got a twenty-hour drive ahead, and you turned this thing into a junkyard. Look—front's blocked, trunk's stuffed, and half the back's unusable. How's your mom supposed to sit?'

Conner glanced around, finally seeing the damage. 'Sorry, Dad. I got carried away. Just excited, you know?'

Before Hugh could respond, Eliza sauntered over from the house, her laughter light and teasing as she took in the sight. 'Oh, honey, it's fine. I don't mind squeezing into the back with my only son off to college. We'll make it work.' She ruffled Conner's hair, her touch warm and affectionate.

Conner nodded eagerly. 'See? Problem solved.'

Hugh let out another long sigh, surveying the piles of boxes and bags. 'Alright, alright. Damage is done. Let's just unload what we can and repack smarter.' Together, the three of them shuffled things around—Hugh directing with gruff efficiency, Eliza folding clothes neatly into corners, and Conner hauling the heavier loads, his muscles straining under the summer sun. By the time they finished, the Jeep was as organized as it could be: still packed tight, but with just enough space in the back middle for two if they got creative.

With the car sorted, they headed inside to change for the long haul. Hugh emerged first in khaki cargo shorts that hung loose on his sturdy frame, a plain white t-shirt clinging slightly to his broad chest from the heat, and a faded baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. Eliza followed, slipping into a light blue tank top that hugged her perky C-cup breasts, the thin straps accentuating her sun-kissed shoulders. Her short denim cutoffs rode high on her thighs, showing off toned legs, and she kicked off her sneakers for simple sandals. Conner changed last, pulling on a gray tank top that revealed his slightly toned arms and chest from recent workouts, paired with loose basketball shorts and slide sandals—easy, breathable gear for the sweltering day.

The summer heat pressed down like a blanket as they loaded the last cooler of snacks and drinks. 'Everyone ready?' Hugh called, sliding into the driver's seat.

Conner and Eliza climbed into the back, eyeing the cramped space. Boxes towered on the left, blocking any view forward, and the right side held more gear, leaving them hip-to-hip in the middle. 'This is tighter than I thought,' Conner muttered, shifting awkwardly.

Eliza tilted her head, then smiled. 'Here, scoot over a bit. I'll just sit on your lap—it's only temporary.'

Conner's eyes widened. 'Mom, you sure? It's a long drive.'

Hugh glanced in the rearview mirror, frowning. 'Eliza, that's twenty hours. Conner's a good kid, but...'

She waved him off with a laugh. 'Oh, stop. Conner's been hitting the gym; he can handle it. And I'm not that heavy.' She settled onto Conner's lap before he could protest, her small, round ass pressing down through the thin fabric of her shorts against his thighs.

Conner chuckled nervously as she adjusted, her body warm and soft. 'You're heavier than you admit, Mom.'

She swatted his arm playfully. 'Hey!' Hugh barked a laugh from up front, but his view was completely obscured by the wall of boxes—no peeking back at all. 'Great, now I'm driving blind to whatever's going on back there. Just don't make me pull over.'

With everyone settled, Hugh fired up the engine and cranked his playlist—classic road tunes, from Springsteen to the Eagles, filling the air with nostalgic guitar riffs. The Jeep rumbled out of the driveway, leaving Wisconsin behind as they merged onto the highway, the first leg of the journey stretching endlessly ahead.

In the back, Conner felt every shift as Eliza wiggled to get comfortable, her bubbly ass rubbing against him in small, unintentional circles. The heat amplified everything—the scent of her floral shampoo, the way her tank top rode up slightly, exposing a sliver of midriff. His body reacted despite himself, a subtle hardening stirring in his shorts. He bit his lip, forcing his mind elsewhere: the music in his headphones now off, replaced by the hum of tires on pavement. Don't think about it, he told himself, staring out the window at passing fields. Just sleep it off.

Eliza sighed contentedly, leaning back as far as the space allowed, her head resting against his shoulder. The motion pressed her closer, but exhaustion from the morning's rush caught up quick. Conner's eyelids grew heavy, the steady rock of the car lulling him under. She drifted off too, her breathing evening out, body relaxing fully against him. As sleep claimed them both, his erection crept firmer, trapped beneath her weight, but neither stirred—the long drive just beginning, hours of highway unspooling into the unknown.
