Chapter 3 - Meeting the Crystal Ninja

The Hidden Mist Village was built on a high mountain, and although it was surrounded by the sea on all sides, due to the monsoon, there was actually a lack of rain in spring.

Furthermore, due to the terrain, it was difficult to draw spring water from the foot of the mountain to irrigate the land, and it could only be done manually.

This also led to the Hidden Mist Village organizing a Genin irrigation mission every spring, with a reward of 50 Ryo for irrigating one mu of land.

The Jonin leading this team was Kisame Hoshigaki, accompanied by 30 Genin; for the Hidden Mist Village in wartime, this team was already quite luxurious.

The farmlands on the outskirts of the Village were uneven like terraces, and the fields had cracked due to dryness.

Kobayakawa Ichima came before the farmlands, took a deep breath, and then exhaled.

Water Release: Cloud Creation Technique!

A huge dark cloud appeared in mid-air, and then, a light rain fell, almost covering an area of two or three mu of farmland.

Kisame Hoshigaki watched all of this, a slight smile playing on his lips, revealing his uneven teeth.

"Using the Cloud Creation Technique can cover two mu of land at once.

Kobayakawa Ichima already has a Chakra volume no less than a Chunin, and being able to master the Cloud Creation Technique in such a short time shows his potential as a Ninja.

He truly is an unpolished gem among the Genin."

After a day of hard work, Kobayakawa Ichima irrigated 23 mu of farmland, and dinner was hosted by the villagers.

The family Kobayakawa Ichima was dining with consisted of two people: a woman and a young girl.

The girl had a good physique, and due to frequently doing farm work, her skin was a healthy tan, and her palms had rough calluses.

Her smooth calves were stretched straight, and she was at an age that was just blossoming.

"You've worked hard, Ninja-sama."

The woman brought out dinner, which was a pot of rice porridge; the rice grains inside were sparse, but it seemed enough to fill one's stomach.

There was no other way; the Hidden Mist Village was in constant war, and for ordinary villagers, being able to eat like this was already acceptable.

Ichima was drinking the rice porridge to fill his stomach when suddenly, the girl ran out of the room.

She held a small piece of crystal in her hand, which was still growing and encased a ladybug.

"Mama, look!"

The girl's face was beaming with a bright smile as she held the crystal and showed her masterpiece to Ichima and her mother.

Ichima and the woman's pupils, however, constricted.

A child might not understand, but for Ichima, this was explosive news.

That Ninjutsu, without a doubt, did not belong to any basic nature transformation Ninjutsu and could only be explained by a Bloodline Limit.

Opening his system, information about the girl appeared in Ichima's eyes.

Name: Komori Yu

Ninja Potential: E

Beauty: C

Bloodline Limit: Crystal Release

Knowing the girl's situation, Kobayakawa Ichima faced a dilemma.

If he truthfully reported Komori Yu's situation to the Village, he would receive a considerable commission, probably around 20,000 Ryo.

But once reported, it would mean her death.

"Yu-chan, where did you pick up this craft? It's very beautiful."

Kobayakawa Ichima stroked Komori Yu's head.

20,000 Ryo was indeed a lot for a Genin, but there was no need to offend a Ninja with a Bloodline Limit for some commission.

He himself was an outer relative of the Terumi Clan and knew well what kind of persecution Ninja with Bloodline Limits would suffer.

"Yes, it's truly a beautiful craft."

The woman forced a strange smile onto her horrified face and shouted to Komori Yu, "Alright, hurry back, don't trouble the Ninja-sama."

Immediately after, Kobayakawa Ichima heard the woman scolding her daughter.

Although the sound was not loud, it could not escape a Ninja's ears.

After dinner, Kobayakawa Ichima rested early, and the next morning, he continued to irrigate the land using the Cloud Creation Technique.

The time limit for the land irrigation mission was limited, only half a month in total, and this half month was the best sowing time for spring wheat.

Irrigation at this time could significantly increase crop yields and also reduce the risk of insect infestations.

Water Release: Cloud Creation Technique!

Kobayakawa Ichima diligently continued irrigating until his Chakra was mostly depleted before stopping to rest for a while.

Once his Chakra had recovered to a certain extent, he began to use the Cloud Creation Technique again.

After such high-intensity training, a week later, his Cloud Creation Technique also made new progress, with its completion increasing from 5% to 6%, and irrigation efficiency increasing to a certain extent.

Two weeks passed in a flash, and Kobayakawa Ichima irrigated a total of 447 mu of land, receiving a bounty of 22,350 Ryo.

For an ordinary Genin, these 22,350 Ryo were almost equivalent to half a year's income.

For Genin, the annual irrigation mission was almost the best mission of the year; they didn't have to risk their lives and could still earn a large amount of money.

Of course, for ordinary Ninja, being able to irrigate 100 mu of farmland in 15 days was considered diligent, and only Ninja like Kobayakawa Ichima, who could use Water Release Ninjutsu, could quickly irrigate a large amount of farmland and earn high commissions.

In the mission settlement room, Kisame Hoshigaki sat by the side and asked, "Kobayakawa Ichima, I see you have the potential to become a Chunin.

How about it? Would you like to work under me? I can guarantee that your monthly income will be this much."

Kobayakawa Ichima hesitated for a moment.

An income of 20,000 Ryo a month was a very good figure even for a Chunin.

With this money, even if he married several more wives and had several more children, he would be able to support them.

Even in a place like the Land of Blood Mist, with years of war and political darkness, 20,000 Ryo was enough to live well.

However, Kobayakawa Ichima still shook his head and declined Kisame Hoshigaki's invitation.

In the original Naruto story, Kisame Hoshigaki's superior was Fuguki Suikazan, a ruthless character who could sacrifice his subordinates at any time for a mission.

Working under such a person was definitely not a good idea.

"I apologize, my abilities are insufficient, and I'm afraid I cannot meet your expectations."

Kobayakawa Ichima stated his concerns, and Kisame Hoshigaki did not force him, allowing him to leave.

Currently, the situation in the Hidden Mist Village was not yet clear.

It was true that Fourth Mizukage Yagura's methods were bloody and cruel, but those Ninja families with Bloodline Limits were still secretly accumulating strength, and assassinations of the Mizukage occurred from time to time.

The missions Kisame Hoshigaki undertook were indeed quite dangerous.
