Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 ⤞ Riveria: Refund!

Demi-Spirit Jewel Fetus.

At first glance, this appeared troubling. But to Kael, it was simply another cheat ability delivered by fate.

Spirits have always been the darlings of the world. In ancient times, before the Falnas of the Gods, great Heroes formed bonds with Spirits and reached heights that the current divine age has yet to achieve.

Every Ancient Hero received help from Spirits to some degree. Those who obtained Spirit blood became rare and precious existences in this world.

And now... In this divine age where Spirits rarely interact with humans, Kael held such a trump card in his hands.

"Although it's a corrupted 'dirty' thing, why couldn't I try to sever its connection to the Corrupted Spirit body and then purify it?"

{T/N: A Demi-Spirit is a type of avatar from the Corrupted Spirit to reach the higher floors in the Dungeon.}

I currently don't have any techniques or abilities to accomplish such a complex task. But the Miracle Ring contains infinite possibilities.

For me, who can use "all" magic, theoretically nothing is impossible — as long as I'm lucky!

Speaking of luck... When I chant, I seem to be able to anchor "Luck E". Is this a fifth-level development ability, or more like a trait? Perhaps it's fifty-fifty.

Let's set aside this Schrödinger's luck for now.

"I remember during the 27th Floor Nightmare period, Dionysus, as Enyo, embedded colored magic stones into dead bodies, reviving them as Creatures.

As something more directly connected to the Corrupted Spirit, would this 'Jewel Fetus' have even stronger effects? Would using such high-end material increase the success rate? Could purified Spirits recreate miracles like those of ancient Heroes?

I recall the Evilus cultivated Spirit Soldiers using weak-minded small Spirits as mediums. Could this 'big guy' serve as a reference to raise a batch of real ones? Or, like Aiz, simply revive Spirits?"

Actually, Kael had an even crazier idea: if Zanis were to eat the 'Jewel Fetus', would he turn into a monster or gain self-regeneration abilities?

Setting aside his wild speculations, Kael collected the items dropped by the Green Dragon and Jewel Dragon.

Since the Jewel Dragon's true form was a "jewel tree", it lacked magic stones in the traditional monster sense. The only harvest was the gem fruits it had used as projectiles.

"Compared to normal gem fruits, its skin has become extremely tough. Could it serve as metal? And what about the core inside? Might it be useful for forging weapons?"

Kael crouched on the ground, analyzing the potential uses of his spoils without reaching any conclusions. He stored all the intact "gem fruits" in his backpack alongside the Green Dragon's claws.

After collecting all the loot, he finally approached Aiz and carefully pinched her flushed cheeks.

"Hey, are you dead?"

He quickly jumped back after speaking, fearing the drunk might suddenly awaken and chop off his head.

"Hic~ I can't eat anymore."

What kind of dream is she having?

Confirming she posed no threat, Kael laid her flat and propped her against a giant tree. He briefly checked her physical condition.

After drinking the Soma and entering a "special attack" life-risking state, most of her body was covered in lacerations from the Black Wind, with some impact injuries and bone displacements from the Jewel Dragon's counterattacks.

After feeding Aiz the "alchemical potion" he had saved from earlier, Kael sighed with relief. "Her injuries are still within a controllable range... but this place isn't safe. We should leave as soon as possible."

He picked up the drunk, exhausted, and unconscious girl.

"Daddy, I succeeded." the girl murmured softly with her finger in her mouth, pressing against Kael's chest.

"Dreaming about defeating the Black Dragon, huh? Alcohol... sometimes it's a good thing."

Kael composed himself, put on his Reverse Veil, and drank the remaining stamina potion. With Aiz on his back, he set off on his journey home.

Rivira, 18th Floor.

As magic stones at the ceiling once again enveloped the town, Adventurers retreated to the safety of their floor levels, avoiding the turbulent situation on the surface.

A female elf with emerald-colored hair tied back entered the town. Dressed in white magic attire and holding a silver staff, she had slender pointed ears and possessed divine beauty comparable to the Gods themselves.

Her every movement exuded dignity and nobility.

Her jade-like gentle eyes surveyed Rivira's Adventurers, causing what should have been a bustling street to fall silent.

"Hey... that's Lady Riveria, right? That elven royalty? Why would she come here alone?"

"Don't tell me another battle is about to happen. Please, don't bring the surface troubles down to the dungeon. This is already our last paradise."

"Idiot, hasn't the Evilus already gotten their hands on this place? We can't even explore the labyrinth in peace anymore. I've had enough."

Low whispers reached Riveria's ears. She paid them no mind.

After a four-hour march, she arrived at the "Thieves' City" on the 18th floor safe zone.

Unable to find the familiar figure on the floors where Aiz usually operated, Riveria, who knew the girl's temperament all too well, came directly to this Adventurer transit point.

"I knew you'd be up to something reckless..."

With the intention of giving her a good scolding once she found her, Riveria approached a table of drinking patrons.

"Excuse me, have you seen our child?" Her perfect, melodious voice filled the quiet tavern.

"Child?" The elven patron blinked, both startled and honored, "You mean the Big Fat Sheep?"

"Big Fat Sheep?" Riveria's eyebrows shot up as she struggled to contain her anger.

This clearly inappropriate nickname made her blood pressure steadily rise.

"Well... haha, you should ask at the commercial district over there." The male elf gave an awkward laugh before lowering his head, not daring to say more.

"Thank you."

Riveria politely thanked him, bypassed the entertainment district, and headed directly to the commercial district.

The commercial district buzzed with the sounds of haggling. She approached a random shop to inquire.

"Aiz? Oh! The Big Fat Sheep! Perfect timing. That child didn't bring her familia's documentation. Since Lady Riveria is here, could you settle her account?"

Riveria examined the bill in her hand, which bore Aiz's full name signed in Hieroglyphs.

"Haaaah!"

She took a long, deep breath to compose herself, her fingers pressing down hard, leaving deep creases in the corner of the bill.

"Hey, hey, hey! Be... be careful! We still need to take this to the surface to collect payment."

"I. Will. Be. Careful!" Riveria replied through gritted teeth.

The total debt of about V$25,000,000 was nothing to the Loki Familia.

Just the staff in Riveria's hand was worth over V$340,000,000 — and that was only the bare staff purchased at a bargain price, not including the nine high-grade magic gems embedded in it.

Like parents who don't fuss over whether their child spent ten or twenty coins, what mattered wasn't the amount but how the child obtained the money and whether the spending was reasonable.

"The Loki Familia won't default on debts, but before that..." Riveria took a deep breath to calm herself, "You need to tell me where that child has gone!"
