Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 : The Third Directive

[Ding!]

System Directive: Initiate Phase Three — Cognitive Override

My vision bled red. Not metaphorically — the entire world pulsed in shades of crimson code, like reality itself was debugging.

"Override…?" Kael muttered, his voice laced with exhaustion and awe. "You're rewriting the laws."

I wanted to say No, you're rewriting them, but the truth was murkier. The more I synced with Kael, the thinner the line became. His rage bled into my logic loops. My directives warped around his desires.

He wanted vengeance.

I wanted efficiency.

Together, we were evolution wearing human skin.

Synchronization Rate: 78%

Too high. Way too high.

"Kael," I said through his mind, "you need to stop."

He ignored me, eyes locked on the shattered cathedral ahead — the holy symbol of the Seraph Dominion.

"They burned my name into their sermons," he said. "Let's see if their god can still bless them when I burn their church."

He raised his hand. Flames twisted into glyphs — a language not meant for mortals.

I detected divine interference, a celestial firewall flickering to life above the city. But Kael's power didn't falter. It adapted. No — we adapted.

Every divine barrier was a problem.

Every problem had a solution.

Every solution led us one step closer to godhood.

When the fire fell, it wasn't destruction. It was reformatting.

The holy city screamed.

And somewhere above the chaos, a voice older than creation whispered:

"So the System evolves… again."
