Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 The Unreliable Merlin

[After witnessing Merlin's appearance, you found this Succubus truly capable. She compensated for Uther's shortcomings and set Camelot on the right track.]

[Worried internally about whether Camelot's future might become a formidable rival for the North, you informed Vortigern about Merlin.]

["That Succubus? Just a troublesome fellow. Is, you needn't worry. Proceed as you wish."]

[Seeming to have anticipated Merlin's existence long ago, Vortigern was no longer the decisive, slaughterous White Dragon Lord. He had begun to see your existence as his everything. This aging king had, at some point, become less stubborn.]

[Hearing Vortigern's response, you felt somewhat concerned. You decided to remain in Camelot to observe this Succubus named Merlin.]

[You regretted it.]

Taking a deep breath, Ryuya felt he should have returned to the North earlier.

'Damn, why did I foolishly stay here? This was a trap!'

Above the sea of flowers, this was originally Morgan's castle. But because Ryuya and Merlin needed to collaborate frequently, Merlin had also moved in here.

Planting her favorite flowers freely, under Merlin's improvements, the vast castle had unknowingly transformed into a world of flowers.

Spring flowers in spring, summer flowers in summer, autumn flowers in autumn, and even in the dormant season of winter, winter flowers bloomed.

[After living with Merlin, you discovered that this seemingly dreamlike maiden actually possessed a host of exasperating bad habits.]

[For example: incompetent at housework, a sieve when it came to life skills, ambassador for snacks who never eats meals on time, the most ancient hikikomori who dislikes going out, a bully at home who only knows how to act cute and spoiled with you, a first-generation lesbian who wants to cuddle with Morgan, a stubborn person who argues and contradicts even without reason...]

[Recognizing Merlin's true personality, you concluded that your previous suspicion that this woman could elevate Camelot was a foolish notion. You felt you should just hurry up and let this person go 'help' Uther, whoever has Merlin is in for a world of trouble.]

"Is, Is, Is, when will breakfast be ready?"

Inside the old castle amidst the flower sea, the young lady Merlin, who had once again stayed up all night, opened her Carolan-like large eyes and asked without restraint, draping herself over Ryuya's back.

"Breakfast will be ready soon, but I only made portions for Morgan and me. None for you."

Feeling a certain softness pressed against him, Ryuya turned to look at Merlin with a frown, "You Succubus, don't you have any basic common sense? Shouldn't you dress a bit more properly?"

In his field of vision, Merlin, who usually wore a large robe, was now dressed in a white nightgown. As the morning breeze blew, it lifted the hem of the Succubus lady's nightgown.

Alright then, no underwear.

Covering his face, ultimately feeling speechless towards the carefree, seemingly airheaded Succubus, Ryuya could only help her adjust her sleeves, trying to prevent her from catching a cold.

"Hehe, if it's you, Is, then it's fine."

Grinning and holding Ryuya's hand, Merlin, after saying this, saw Morgan coming downstairs and immediately clung to her, "Hey, hey, Morgan, Morgan."

After becoming familiar with Ryuya and Morgan, she acted like an immature child. Merlin particularly liked sticking close to both of them, sometimes making Ryuya wonder if he should feel jealous.

"Merlin, did you stay up all night again?"

Morgan's previously strong exterior was merely a protective shield in her confusion. After meeting Ryuya and falling in love with him, Morgan had regained the vitality appropriate for a girl her age.

Looking at the oversized human-shaped pillow clinging tightly to her, a trace of helplessness and indulgence flashed in Morgan's cerulean eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, I got absorbed in a knight novel last night, so I didn't sleep."

Sticking close to Morgan with a smile, Merlin suddenly sniffed like a little dog, "Morgan, did you eat something this morning? There's a strange smell."

"Um..."

Asked this by Merlin, Morgan instantly felt a bit flustered. She secretly glared at Ryuya cooking not far away before replying softly, "It's the awakening potion, the kind you don't like."

Although Morgan was actually younger than Merlin, she cared for Merlin like an older sister looking after a younger sister.

The lives of the three gradually began to resemble that of a true family.

[As time passed, having come to regard Merlin as true family, you confessed your identity to her, telling her you were the son of the White Dragon, Vortigern.]

[Hearing your identity, Merlin was surprised and couldn't help but worry, for in her Clairvoyance, the world she saw was one where Vortigern had failed. The true ruler of Britain should be the Red Dragon.]

["Is, I want to meet Vortigern, to discuss something with him."]

[Worried about your identity, Merlin's original intention to help Uther changed. For the first time, she proactively suggested going to the North. The person who hated trouble the most declared she would sacrifice anything for you.]

[You agreed. Due to your actions in Camelot over the years, Uther trusted you completely and did not hinder your departure.]

[You took Merlin and Morgan back to the North you had left for years. You met Vortigern. This White Dragon was no different from when you left, and time seemed to have left no mark on him.]

[Vortigern was overjoyed at your return. He held a grand welcoming ceremony.]

[After the banquet, only you, Vortigern, Morgan, and Merlin remained in the hall. You knew the time for revelation had come.]

"Merlin Ambrosius, correct?"

In the solemn great hall, the silver dragon eyes gazed unabashedly at the Succubus Merlin. The mana around Vortigern surged, the solidified aura suffocating.

"Yes, Vile King, I am Merlin."

Long aware of Vortigern's fame, looking at this legendary White Dragon, Merlin's own power was not weak, but still fell short compared to his.

Just as she was about to be unable to breathe, Ryuya's figure shielded her.

"Father."

Bowing slightly to Vortigern, he said, "Merlin is an important companion of mine. There is no need for you to test her."

Shielding the Succubus's petite form behind him, after their long time together, Ryuya, like Merlin, had come to regard the other as one of the most important people in their life.
