Chapter 67 - CHAPTER 67.

Yesterday passed without any more drama.

Not in a comforting way….. in a numb way.

The kind where hours blur together and you're not sure if you actually did anything or just existed in different rooms. I stayed inside most of the day. I folded laundry that didn't need folding. I wiped down counters already clean. I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at nothing longer than I'd like to admit. I stayed busy. Not productive, exactly, just occupied enough that my thoughts didn't spiral too badly.

I reorganized the linen closet even though it didn't need it. I helped Mrs. Kline trim flowers in the garden, though she did most of the work and insisted I sit when my hands got cold. I read half a book and retained none of it. I watched a movie without remembering the ending.

Alex didn't come home until late.
