"Look, Elr. I admit,, I'm in the wrong, but please.. get out of my life!!"
Elr had that devilish look of I-won't-let-you-go-yet on his face.
After finger-tapping on the bench he was seated on for a while, he finally looked up at her.
Kurv Daynes stood there, eyes begging for his mercy. She couldn't stand another second of his constant teasing and corrections. She almost ripped her hair off the last time he tried that.
He leaned forward, crossed his fingers against eachother like a scheming detective.
"You broke into my car and refused to leave... I could call the cops on you if I wanted to."
" Hey! That's my line. You stalked me first! How on earth did you know so much about me? "
" That I know your last name and achievement doesn't mean I was stalking you." He looked down, trying to avoid Kurv's eyes. Those eyes that could almost make you spill the truth without knowing.
"I was present at the last Annual Ceremony, that's when I overheard.." Elr choked on his words, he really didn't mean to point back at Kurv's humiliating conversation with Vetto.
But that was his only bailing point out.
`Knowing her, she would be able to connect a few dots if I revealed the main reason why I looked up her profile to begin with.`
Not telling her was the best conclusion.
`It's good enough that she doesn't know me yet `
Kurv beamed at the revelation. Elr and Vetto did have a past.. or were about to. Either way, she was now curious to know the root of their argument that day at the bar.
"You--"
The sound of the whistle instantly dismissed their conversation.
***
I flinched on hearing the whistle. Elr didn't look bothered, but it caught his attention as well.
How could I forget? We were at the Physical training club.
I can't believe Elr signed up for it --The only place I could actually get my head cleared was where Elr D'Carter decided to show up.
It was irky enough that he had to be present, but joining the opposite team? Yeah, he was definitely crossing a line.
I marched forward when the coach blew the whistle again.
This time, the rest of my team was already on high alert. We made a formation and waited for team blue to be ready.
It was Dodge-Ball practice between teams Blue and Red.
Elr slouched to the back of his team, obviously not ready to become a sacrificial lamb.
Then I felt a familiar presence. One I hadn't sensed in months now. But I knew that feeling.
Vetto walked in, his red jersey fitted perfectly on his perfect abbed body. No way I could even look away.
And when he stood beside me, all that rage I held against Elr instantly melted away. All I could feel were butterflies in my stomach.
Then, the way Elr's gaze suddenly went from teasy to irky, I just knew it.
Ok. Now I was literally starving to know their history.
The whistle went off again. Vetto stepped forward, bouncing the ball in his hand. His eyes searching the crowd for a next possible target.
When he found one, he flipped the ball over to me and I threw, but missed.
Ugh.
But Vetto was doing great.
Two minutes hadn't gone straight and he was already dodging all the balls with his awesome moves.
I stood beside him like he was my only shield, lifting and tossing the balls at our opponents.
Elr's team was short of throwers, so most of them just had to dodge or get hit.
Elr himself had slouched back to the shadows, obviously not ready for any drama.
A wicked grin spread across my face and I looked up at Vetto, we exchanged glances like we strongly approved of each other's thoughts.
I knew what he was thinking, so I launched forward and with a flexible sprint, threw the ball straight up and smacked it forward at my target —Elr D'Carter.
It hit him, right in the face.
That was more satisfying than anything else in this world.
Just watching him turn around and make his way back to the bench with fallen shoulders was enough to fill my stomach.
I grinned at my victory, I didn't notice when a stray ball came flying in my direction and hit me on the knee.
'Phweee! ' went the whistle again.
I walked out of the team circle and over to the benches.
I could see Elr almost dieing of laughter from my defeat.
Six of my teammates were out the next second.
Hmph. At least I beat Elr fair and square. That's all that mattered to me. I'd rub it in his face later on.
Everyone began chanting Vetto's name, sure that he would win. But.. I wasn't so sure he was very good at throwing because I was the one hitting targets while he dodged.
Right. They hit me on purpose to get me off of the problem list.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw Vetto's chance of losing was pretty wide.
But then, Amelia, the #2 sports goddess that almost beat me in last year's finals, stepped forward just when Vetto managed to catch a ball.
She flapped her hair off her shoulder and squatted down.
She wasn't quite the defender but her throwing skills were Top Notch. Throwing from below? even I couldn't do that!!
You can't dodge her attacks unless you're ready to jump every second. Which was IMPOSSIBLE. So yeah.. everyone on the opposite team is fucked once she gets back in the circle the second time.
That's when she normally gets hyped up for attack..or payback? Either way then.
A few throws and we were back on the leaderboard.
Team blue lost five members because of her.
It was now down to duo Vs duo.
Joey (#3) and Alex(#1), Vetto(#2) and Amelia(#2)
Ok, things were looking really spicy now. I could feel the tension in everyone's eyes.
The best duos against eachother. SICK.
Alex threw a ball at Vetto,
Big. Mistake.
Because right then, when he stood his perfect godly stance to attack, Amelia made her move and got him first.
~"You go girl!" Someone whistled from behind me.
~" Yeah! Fuck them up!!"
Joey was the last one standing. She paced around swiftly, so Amelia wouldn't track her movements. She was a tough target. One of a kind.
But Amelia was just a bait. Vetto launched a ball straight at Joey, the second she was wide open.
VICTORY--
Wait..
Joey had caught the ball.
That means, Elr is back in the circle?
"Don't pace out. Bitch!" Amelia struck her ball forward, straight at Joey and this time.. It got her.
She called that the 'calling attack', when your target's attention becomes solely on you from a surprise call and they actually forget how to dodge.
I'll give that a 💯
But most importantly, Elr was back in the circle and he didn't look happy at all.
He picked two balls at once and with a swivel launch, he went for an upfront attack.
The first ball missed Vetto by a hair's breadth and the other one? It undoubtedly hit Amelia.
His moves were so unreadable and fast, Amelia actually lost to him.
Ok... Wow.
