Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Existence Is Meaning

The Old Supreme Kai's gaze was firm, his eyes glowing with conviction as his final words fell.

Boom!

A thunderous resonance echoed, shaking heaven and earth.

Beerus's eyes suddenly sharpened—at that instant, he was certain.

That ultimate form was indeed sound.

Even Gran couldn't help but feel genuine admiration.

He had always known that the Super Saiyan 4 path was the right one—but he'd never understood the purpose behind all the transformations before it.

Now, hearing the Old Supreme Kai's deductions, he realized this ancient god was truly incredible.

As for Shin and Kibito—they hadn't understood a single word of the discussion. Yet at that moment, they could only stare in awe at their glowing ancestor, radiating wisdom and authority.

Whis, on the other hand, trembled slightly as those words—"Existence is meaning."

resonated deep within his heart.

Those were the very same words his father had once spoken:

"Everything in existence has its own meaning.

Existence itself is reason enough.

If Odys had managed to resolve those flaws back then… who knows what might have become of him?"

Existence is meaning.

Hearing the Old Supreme Kai repeat that same truth—Whis finally understood.

Perhaps… perhaps Odys's transformation all those eons ago hadn't been wrong after all.

He had simply never found the way to overcome its imperfections.

Whis looked at the Old Supreme Kai with a strangely thoughtful expression.

This old man—was terrifyingly insightful.

"What's wrong, Whis?" the Old Supreme Kai frowned, noticing his look.

Whis smiled faintly, lifting his staff.

"As expected of the great Old Supreme Kai. Even after being sealed away for so many ages, your perception remains as sharp as ever. I'm in awe."

The Old Supreme Kai waved his hands bashfully.

"Oh no, no. You flatter me. You're far more capable than I am, Whis. I just dabble in a bit of species study, that's all."

Whis said nothing, only smiling as if he wished to say more.

Beerus, however, grew impatient.

"Alright, alright, we get it. You're both geniuses. Just tell me—what's Gran supposed to do next?"

Gran perked up his ears immediately.

Whis turned toward him.

"After the Old Supreme Kai's analysis, I agree—your path isn't wrong. What you must do now is follow your training systematically. Once you've gathered enough of those… 'rage factors' within, you'll be ready to reach your ultimate form."

He glanced at the Old Supreme Kai with a grin.

"Wouldn't you say so, Elder?"

The Old Supreme Kai chuckled awkwardly.

"Yes, yes. When it comes to training guidance, Lord Whis, you're still the expert here."

He knew perfectly well—compared to Whis, he wasn't even in the same league.

At that, Gran finally exhaled in relief.

He could now continue down the Super Saiyan path with confidence.

"Thank you, Elder Kai, for clearing my doubts."

Gran bowed respectfully.

The old god waved dismissively.

"No need for thanks. You're Universe Seven's candidate for God of Destruction—your growth means the universe itself grows stronger."

Then he cast a side-eye at Beerus and sneered.

"Besides, it's thanks to this kid that I was even released! If not for him, who knows how many more centuries I'd have been sealed away?"

His tone dripped with grievance—like a long-forgotten wife scolding her husband.

Beerus merely twitched his lips.

This old fossil had done him a great favor today—he could let him vent a little.

Whis, long accustomed to their banter, chuckled softly.

"By the way," Whis said, turning back to Gran, "even if your path is correct, you haven't reached your ultimate form yet. I'd advise you to use that golden-haired state as little as possible."

"'As little as possible?'" Gran blinked innocently. "So… that means I can use it sometimes?"

Everyone: "???"

Beerus frowned. "Didn't you hear what we just said? You'll only be free from its drawbacks after reaching the ultimate form. Why would you still—"

Before he could finish, Gran said with deadpan seriousness,

"Because it looks cool, obviously!"

That was Super Saiyan, after all!

Such a magnificent form—how could he not use it to show off a little?

Everyone: "..."

"You're never serious," Beerus grumbled, glaring at him.

Still, the boy knew his limits, so Beerus let it slide.

Thanks to Gran's antics, the tense atmosphere lightened instantly.

Laughter rippled across the lakeside.

As they laughed, everyone found their eyes drawn to Gran.

So young, yet already so strong.

And he had even forged a new path for his race.

The future of this road was boundless.

How far would his achievements ultimately reach?

A divine-dimensional being…

An ultimate state…

And Ultra Instinct on top of that

Could he really complete them all?

The thought alone was thrilling.

"My mind has entered a selfless state, and the Elder Kai has cleared my doubts—so many blessings today!" Gran laughed. "How about I make us a feast to celebrate?"

That word—feast—instantly set off alarms.

"Feast?!" Whis's face darkened.

"You promised to cook for me every day while I trained you! But you're either in seclusion or off wandering the universe! Do you even know how long it's been, you brat?!"

Beerus nodded furiously beside him.

"And I remember you said you'd bring back gifts from your travels! You brought nothing! Not even instant noodles! You disappeared straight into another retreat!"

Their combined resentment almost materialized in the air.

Gran instinctively shrank his neck.

"I'm the candidate for God of Destruction—I have to train constantly! It's not like I had a choice…"

He sounded sheepish.

Truth was, he had planned to return to Earth, grab some senzu beans, and haul back a few billion packs of instant noodles.

But thanks to the Shenron incident, that plan had gone up in smoke.

"Humph! Then get cooking!" Beerus barked. "It's been a year and a half since I last tasted your food!"

"Whis," Gran looked at him helplessly.

Without a word, Whis raised his staff—and in an instant, a kitchen and full cooking setup appeared by the lake.

The sudden commotion startled the Old Supreme Kai.

"Ancestor, Gran's cooking is amazing! You'll see," Shin said, finally speaking up.

He'd eaten Gran's food countless times during their year together—and even now, the memory made his mouth water.

"This kid can cook too?" The Old Supreme Kai's eyes widened, then he swallowed audibly.

After being sealed for so long, he'd nearly forgotten what food even tasted like.

While Gran started preparing dishes, the Old Supreme Kai took the chance to study Shin carefully.

"What's wrong, Ancestor?" Shin asked nervously.

The old god said slowly,

"When Majin Buu attacked the Sacred World of the Kais, I witnessed everything."

Shin's whole body stiffened.

"I saw your struggles and your ignorance—but none of that was your fault," the Elder said gently.

"From now on, with my guidance, you'll become a proper Supreme Kai."

Then he turned his gaze back to Gran, who was busy cooking over the flame.

"And with this boy here… our Universe Seven is destined to soar."
