The Spirit Fruit was, in truth, nothing more than an ordinary fruit eaten by gods. It had even appeared in one of the anime movies.
In that film, Turles relied on a single Spirit Fruit to overpower Son Goku, who was using the 10× Kaio-ken, grinding him ruthlessly into the ground.
Its effects certainly looked exaggerated—but that only applied to mortals.
For gods, eating the Spirit Fruit did little more than satisfy a craving; it had no meaningful effect beyond that.
The stuff grew everywhere in the Realm of the Gods and the Supreme Kai's Realm. Even back before Gran became a divine being, he had eaten quite a few.
But its strength-enhancing effects were minimal—and varied from person to person. At most, it could raise one's battle power by a little over a million.
By the second fruit, the effects dropped drastically.
By the third, there was basically no effect at all.
In the Supreme Kai's Realm, beneath a great tree—
With a sharp whoosh, Gran landed while carrying a young boy by the collar.
Scanning the surroundings, he saw Shin monitoring the universe, while the Elder Kai was still meditating.
Beerus and Whis were stretched out on beach chairs by the lakeshore. Beerus grumbled nonstop:
"We were just about to start his training in Destruction, and he's still running around everywhere!"
"And what's with this 'God of War' nonsense? What kind of childish title is that?"
"Hmph! When he gets back, I'll beat some sense into him..."
Hearing this, Gran fell silent.
Noticing the noise, Shin looked over and brightened.
"Ancestor! Lord Gran has returned!"
The Elder Kai opened his eyes from meditation.
"Didn't you say you were bringing back some 'God of War'? Where is he?"
Beerus pretended he had never said anything at all, then walked over from the lake.
He eyed Gran—then noticed the child dangling from his hand.
"Don't tell me this kid is the 'God of War' you were talking about?"
"Lord Beerus, I'm pretty sure I just heard you insulting me."
Gran's smile turned cold.
"You must not want to eat any of my cooking anymore."
Beerus: "..."
Whis and the others quietly chuckled.
"What are you laughing at?!"
Beerus glared at them, then turned back to Gran.
"And you—don't think ten years is a long time!"
According to his plan, he would begin teaching Gran the rules of Destruction.
But mastering Destruction was no easy task. Without monstrous talent, one could spend a lifetime without grasping even the essence of "Destruction."
As for Gran—Beerus was confident Gran could comprehend and master "Destruction" within ten years.
But he would also undergo Elder Kai's potential unlock during those same ten years.
Meaning—ten years was not enough!
Seeing Beerus suddenly turn serious, Gran shrank his neck slightly.
"It's not like I was slacking off! I was doing legitimate work, okay?"
Bringing back Broly was for assembling the future Tournament of Power lineup.
Sending Paragus and the other Saiyans to the Galactic Patrol Headquarters was to raise Universe 7's average mortality index.
Those were clearly legitimate tasks!
"That 'legitimate work' you're talking about—is that kid you're holding?" Beerus snapped.
"That's right."
Gran tossed young Broly onto the grass.
Everyone turned their gaze toward him.
Shin scratched his head—he didn't understand.
But Elder Kai, Beerus, and Whis all narrowed their eyes, clearly sensing something unusual.
The air went eerily still.
"So? What do you all think of him?" Gran asked cheerfully.
"Strange!" Whis frowned.
"Among the Saiyans I've met—aside from that Kakarot—the rest all have a violently raging aura."
"Even you, Gran—before cultivating your mental state—were the same."
"But this child…"
Broly had only lost control once earlier on Planet Vampa, but the remnants of that berserk aura still clung to him. Whis saw through it instantly.
Whis shook his head repeatedly.
"He's too strange. Unlike any Saiyan I've ever seen. His aura is far beyond what a normal being should be able to withstand."
"Indeed." Elder Kai nodded.
"With an aura that violent, he shouldn't even be capable of maintaining rationality."
Beerus looked up at Gran.
"So you went out just to bring back this little monster?"
"Little monster? That's actually pretty fitting."
Gran chuckled. "If he loses control, he does turn into something like a little monster. Anyway—you've been staring at him this long and you still haven't realized what feels familiar about him?"
"Familiar?"
Beerus and Elder Kai exchanged looks—both puzzled.
Whis frowned deeply. He had never seen a physique like Broly's…
Yet something about it did feel familiar—like something he had heard long ago.
Still, he couldn't place it.
"Can't remember?" Gran smirked.
"Let me give you another hint."
His lips curved upward.
"Odys."
A tremendous boom rang through the minds of every god present.
Their expressions turned to utter shock.
According to Whis's past explanation, his father—the Grand Priest—once said that Odys was the first Saiyan.
Odys possessed a transformation—the Extreme Berserk State.
In that state, his hair turned grass-green, and his power rose without limit.
Back in the primordial era, Odys used this form to defeat Universe 7's Destroyer God, and later even challenged the Omni-King.
Though he ultimately lost, Odys's legend had echoed throughout history.
"Y–You're saying this Saiyan's physique is the same… as your ancestor's?" Beerus swallowed hard.
