Everyone rose to their feet. They all knew that when Gran pointed at the ceiling, he wasn't talking about the roof itself—but the Heavenly Realm beyond it.
Up there was a Time Chamber. This cultivation session would require him to make full use of it.
"Since we already agreed to leave these three years entirely to you, we won't interfere," Beerus said calmly. "Once you're ready, go."
Beerus walked over and gave Gran a light pat on the shoulder.
"Lord Gran, you have to train hard!" Bulma clenched her small fists excitedly. "When the time comes, knock all those other universes' Candidate Gods of Destruction flat!"
"Brother Gran, good luck…" Little Broly added honestly, offering his encouragement.
"Mm."
Gran nodded at everyone, then turned to Whis.
"Whis, I'll have to trouble you for another set of gravity armor."
"You're really planning to push yourself this hard?" Whis frowned.
"The environment inside the Heavenly Realm's Time Chamber is far worse than our Sumī Realm in the God of Destruction's domain. And you still plan to wear—"
Before he could finish, Gran interrupted him.
"You already said it's inferior to the Sumī Realm," Gran replied evenly.
"That's exactly why I need the gravity suit."
"..."
Whis fell silent. He turned his head toward Beerus, clearly asking for his opinion.
Beerus sighed and nodded helplessly.
"Fine. But if you can't hold on, come out immediately."
Whis waved his staff, and a bulky set of gravity armor materialized onto Gran's body.
"I will."
Gran flashed a toothy grin.
If he couldn't endure it and still didn't run, that would make him an idiot.
"I'm heading up."
Just as Gran turned to leave the dining room—
"Gran!"
Beerus called out to him.
Gran paused and looked back.
"I'll say it again," Beerus said slowly.
"Life shouldn't be nothing but training. Rest when you need to."
"Alright."
Warmth filled Gran's chest.
Beerus continued, "Whis and I have stayed on Earth long enough. We're heading back now. Once you come out of seclusion, come straight to the Supreme Kai Realm."
They would wait for Gran there—and help him unlock his latent potential.
By the time that was done, the battle between the Candidate Gods of Destruction would be just about ready to begin.
"Anything else you'd like to remind me of?" Gran asked with a smile.
"You brat!" Beerus twitched at the corner of his mouth, then waved him off.
"That's all. Whis and I will take care of Broly."
"Thank you, Lord Beerus! Thank you, Master Whis!"
Gran stepped forward and hugged them both, then turned and left.
After being hugged, Beerus stood stiffly in place.
"Lord Beerus, what's wrong?" Whis covered his mouth, snickering.
"That guy—how can he be so touchy?" Beerus rubbed his arms in irritation.
"Is it that bad? I thought it was fine."
Whis let out another mischievous "Oh-ho-ho~".
After fooling around a bit, Beerus lifted little Broly like a chick and signaled Whis to take them home.
Just as Whis raised his staff, Beerus suddenly turned toward Bulma—his official food supplier—and said flatly:
"Run your business properly. Your family better not go bankrupt.
If I come back and there's nothing good to eat, you'll pay for it."
"Whis, let's go!"
The three figures vanished in a streak of seven-colored light.
Only Bulma remained behind, stunned. After a moment, she couldn't help but laugh.
Even if Earth were destroyed, her family still wouldn't go bankrupt.
Why were these gods… kind of adorable?!
...
Earth — Heavenly Realm
Gran shot upward at incredible speed, once again setting foot in the Heavenly Realm.
As expected, Mr. Popo—dark as charcoal—was already waiting for him.
"Mr. Popo, long time no see," Gran greeted.
"Lord Gran, it has indeed been some time," Popo replied, bowing respectfully.
"Huh?"
Gran stepped closer, puzzled.
"Why are you being so polite this time?"
Popo didn't answer, his thoughts unreadable.
Gran smacked his lips. This guy was always acting mysterious—truly boring.
"Lord Gran, are you planning to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber this time?"
"Yes," Gran replied.
"Whis said my martial arts in every aspect have already reached the level of a true Candidate God of Destruction. The only thing left to improve is raw power."
Gran took a stroll around the Heavenly Realm.
The air here was thin, yet the environment was excellent—towering trees, lush flowers and grass, quiet and vast, with stable temperatures.
Overall, it was an ideal place for martial artists to cultivate.
"What do you think?" Gran asked as he returned to Popo's side, teasingly.
"If Whis is wrong, maybe you could guide me a bit?"
"..."
Popo answered expressionlessly,
"Mr. Whis is completely correct. Lord Gran, your martial path has reached perfection in all aspects.
"As for guidance… with Mr. Whis around, my assistance is unnecessary."
Popo fell silent again, as if he only spoke when directly addressed.
Gran stopped teasing and said plainly,
"Then… Mr. Popo, may I borrow the Hyperbolic Time Chamber?"
"Of course. Please follow me, Lord Gran."
Popo turned and walked toward the temple.
Gran quickly followed.
They entered the temple, descended the stairs, and arrived at a long corridor.
There were many rooms along the hallway, but Gran didn't look around.
Ever since learning that Popo was an angel, Gran understood that all these miraculous chambers had been created by him.
"Lord Gran, there are some precautions regarding the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. It would be best if you listen carefully…"
As they walked, Popo explained the chamber's characteristics.
Gran already knew most of this, but he listened attentively anyway.
As expected, it matched what he already understood.
"Ordinarily, a person can only remain inside for two years," Popo said.
"But you are different. You could stay until the end of your lifespan."
They stopped before a massive door.
"With your strength, whenever you wish to exit, simply break through the dimensional barrier."
Gran knew this well—Piccolo once tried to trap Majin Buu using this very feature.
Unfortunately, by then, Buu was already powerful enough to shatter the space itself.
"Understood. I'll remember everything," Gran nodded.
"Then please enter, Lord Gran. Beyond this door lies the Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
The moment Popo opened the door, a scorching wave of heat surged forward—along with a mysterious force.
This power…
It felt similar to the time energy Whis often used.
But
Gran didn't ask Popo about it. If Whis hadn't taught him yet, it meant he wasn't ready to learn such power.
"Mr. Popo—see you in a year."
Gran stepped into the chamber and closed the door behind him.
A year?
Watching the door shut, Popo frowned briefly—then relaxed.
More time didn't necessarily mean greater strength.
Without breaking through bottlenecks, blind cultivation would lead nowhere, no matter how long one trained.
Balance. Tension and relaxation. Work and rest.
That was the true essence of martial cultivation.
"This one really knows how to train," Popo said with a faint smile.
At Gran's dimensional level, he could have stayed inside for hundreds of millions of years—yet he chose only a few hundred.
"Then… see you in a year."
Popo turned away from the chamber door and left.
