"He…killed himself?"
Iye could barely manage to force the words out of her own mouth
It was shocking to her and.. also slightly disappointing
"Why did he take his own life?"
Was he not incredible? A variable so uncontrollable that even probability could not predict the results he brought upon?
So why was he…
This pathetic?
Why was he. This...Normal? No could it even be called normal? Surviving something like this was the norm from a century ago
"..."
She stared at the pathetic filthy trash that was right in front of her, grinning like a maniac, finding a solution that screwed them both
Iye did not waste her time in watching her expectations fall even more than what they already have and turned her attention elsewhere
Towards a lectern that sat bolted to the podium
She spoke resolutely to the lectern as if it were alive
"Log"
The inside of the lectern slowly flared open, releasing a white opaque flame from its birch
It swirled around the lectern until it formed a transparent gray window, the contents in which were filled with words so comprehensible that even a toddler would easily be able to read and understand it
As if it were translating it in a language suitable for the individual who asked
The words that reflected on the transparent window were in a bright bold font, growing steadily and more prominent on the screen
[Log # Day 1 █]
[Subject that broke OE 3 has been subjected to the harshest of punishments within the sub-space code named 'Detention', observation has commenced █]
The log showed many things, ranging from the history of the individual himself to even their deepest darkest secret leaving itself revealed and laid bare in front of the sub-space's system that had been programmed by ██e, their biographical information was no exception to this
[Insight: ???█]
"...."
Even after double checking, it didn't suddenly reveal Cale's ability like it had been an error in the system and its programming
'He truly has no ability on his own….'
The next things the window showed, deflated and plummeted her expectations even further down
[Log # Day 2 █]
[Individual named 'Cale Dice' has began fervently studying after being Incapable of properly sleeping without experiencing any of the reconfigured and enhanced nightmares, it has been observed that enduring proves to be difficult █]
A normal log for a first timer
[Log # Day 3 █]
[Within the observable time thus far, the subject has not used their voice that has been restricted, causing him to not feel the full extent of the punishment that he was sentenced to. Due to this astute observation that was made autonomously, we will readjust the punishment to suit the subject, we appreciate your understanding █]
The log transitioned smoothly to the next page
[Log # Day 4 █]
[Punishment for the subject has been successfully readjusted, though their voice is still restricted, target has now been experiencing more frequent nightmares, slight signs of self harm have been detected, permission to rewrite and erase such a desire is being requested to the operator █]
Iye stayed silent, she hadn't seen the logs due to her own laziness so she couldn't have been able to give out permission to manage this
For context, she left the school premises and hanged out with the Priest of Natura and sometimes would also meet Carlos too, basically abandoning her one job that she had
How it came to that was even more embarrassing.
"..."
The scene in front of her reflected what such laziness led to, if she had simply done her job, something like this wouldn't have happened
Granted, anyone who is sent to Gardenia's detention room wouldn't die and would just suffer in solitude with the operator managing everything
But what if someone purposefully tried to put themselves into a coma? And what if the operator is gone as well?
They would avoid such punishments
"..Crap"
Iye had no excuse for her mismanagement, not even her head would be enough to cover such a blunder
Because of her.
A student who should have been punished, avoided it
The punishment she would be subjected to was already painting itself on parchment.
"...."
On the face of the student, a face full of misery adorned on it, the mask of being fine from before falling to the ground crushed
No, his face had always been like that, it was simply an illusion, a mask that desperately tried to stay on even as the owner of such a mask died
"...He has a good poker face at the very least least"
That might have been the only talent Cale had in his arsenal
She clenched her fist in shame, her nails digging deep into her palm
"Well, it isn't a good poker face if it breaks when getting hurt"
Iye ceased her useless thoughts and continued reading the log
[Log # Day 5 █]
[The subject's mind, has been destabilized, Cale Dice's mental state has worsened with each hour that keeps passing, in the end even losing the ability to think straight █]
The log described Cale's state with pin-point accuracy
[Due to his reason being lost, the subject took drastic measures, the administrator 'Iye Idiyele' did not take any action to prevent this action whatsoever, neglecting one of her responsibilities as a teacher of Gardenia █]
Reading the next lines, Iye was not surprised to see what was written next on the log
[This log will be sent to the current principal of Gardenia to further explore and decide what type of punishment administrator 'Iye Idiyele' would be suitable for her █]
The best she could get away with is execution by cremation for the treason she caused against Gardenia
Gardenia was after all. The top school, known to cultivate all students and giving them the best environment
Something like this could not just be glossed over
A slap on the wrist would be a miracle sent by the gods
In this case however it would become a curse for her
It would not happen, not even in her wildest dreams
"...Haaa"
Iye resolutely accepted her eventual fate without resistance
She committed treason against the place she was most loyal to, and worst yet, she would also have to desperately and forcibly try to resurrect Cale who, even if resurrected, would still die meaninglessly.
"God damnit. This is basically a pending death sentence"
Every teacher in Gardenia knew that, watching the student you were responsible for and resurrected yourself, was essentially a life sentence waiting to turn into a death sentence at any moment's notice, or at least that's a quote said by some other teacher that died prematurely because of how dumb they were
'That guy was genuinely a man-child, he had it coming'
Such were the comments of every teacher after he died
"Crap! Crap! Craap!"
She ruffled her hair in, shaking her head and even rolling on the floor
And her track swapped and turned to a deathly route that has 0% of survival
After getting sidetracked for too long, she finally decided to get up
"Before I do anything…."
She stared back at the cold corpse
"I should bring him back"
Her body had already appeared in front of Cale as she spoke, squatting down to the level of height comparable to a desk's, she poked his head, slightly deformed from the impact it had sustained and absorbed
"I don't get it…"
She continued poking it
"You are just going to die in the practical exam, so why do I even have to do something like this?"
Grumbling, her wooly gloved hands grabbed Cale's shoulders firmly
Staring at the bloodied face, his features could barely be discerned
"Lucky you~"
She played with his cold and dry cheeks, her gloved hand even pressed on his cracked and dry bloodied lips
"Not only will you probably get off of detention, but you will also get a glimpse of how resurrection works in Gardenia, on a front row seat even"
'His time is already up, so this works perfectly"
Even though Cale had missed the entirety of his solitary punishment, he wouldn't get sent there again
Iye would make sure of it herself, it was the least she could do as an esteemed teacher of Gardenia
A responsibility, a moral one she had to fulfil and take no matter what
'Well, to be fair if I don't do at least this. I might genuinely die'
With her hand that donned a wooly glove gripping the nape of a lifeless Cale, she began to drag him across the floor
They left the room, or well one dragged the other out of the room
"Log, show Gravel's information"
The transparent window showed that Gravel had left, aside from the mental pain he suffered, his body was fine without a scratch
Though mentally, he was still slightly shaken but otherwise there was nothing else to look at
"If even he did the same…"
Iye would start giving the principal ideas on how to torture her more efficiently if that were to happen
'Stupid. Stupid. Stupid'
She kept repeating those thoughts like they were a mantra in her head, flicking her colorless transparent face multiple times as hard as she could
Before long, she reached an arched red fresh painted doorway
"...Why..Did she paint the door?"
Iye had told 'her' not to do something like that again as it was essentially vandalism
"She never listens, does she?"
No time was wasted, Iye put both of her hands in front of the door
She drew them in, she took a deep breath, her chest heaved and her hands brought to her chest rushed forward
Boom!
Wooly gloves slammed against the door with intense force, rippling shockwaves spread throughout the entire hallway
Creak
The door as if it had been jammed by something opened slowly
Iyes's hands stung, but it would pass eventually if she blew on it
"Who the hell made it so the door can't open unless you slam hard into it?"
In theory, it would make it more cinematic and dramatic
But in a practical sense, it is just really inconvenient
The door lead to another dimension and that dimension was
"Gardenia…"
She felt slightly scared, like a kid that broke something that they shouldn't have and their mother catching them into the act red handed
But Iye didn't want to run away from her failure and blunder, if she did that, then there truly no hope for her
"Haa"
Grabbing the unconscious Cale once more, she waited for the door to open completely
Every time the door creaked, bright new white streams light rushed forward, blinding Iye
"It's so bright for no reason…."
The doors had all but opened completely, revealing a white void with no end
Iye stepped forward, slinging Cale on her shoulder as if he were baggage
Crossing the door, her location switched instantly, she was once in Detention and now she was in Gardenia, as if she were getting onto a bus and waited till her next stop
Eventually
"...."
She reached Gardenia
And
[Oh? You have quite the gall to act so arrogant in front of me, don't you think you should learn some manners and treat the student you so roughly carried through more delicately]
Zenox was in front of her, seating in an office chair, gold eyes dulling their color the more they looked
He was waiting patiently for Iye to come back
[Did you love your vacation? I hope you really did]
Usually when returning to Gardenia, students get sent to a random spot, and teachers could choose their spot
But no student nor teacher could be forced to get sent to a specific place due to someone else's will
Zenox being the sole exception to this rule of course
[Now then.. Where do you think I should start?]
He propped his chin up, awaiting eagerly for a satisfying answer
