#2Chapter 2: People Are Not as Good as Cats

AI Model: gemini-2.5-flash

Wang Ya used his remaining money to go to a wealthier area, where he bought a leash for large dogs from a pet store, enduring the ridicule and disdain of the store clerk. However, Wang Ya still got what he wanted, as no one would turn down American dollars!

Time was running out. With the sentient gun and this seemingly harmless kitten, his chances of taking down the Shark Gang had increased by several points.

But it also put more pressure on Wang Ya.

At least twenty kilograms of raw meat daily—this little kitten ate more luxuriously in a day than he had in his entire life, and for this, Wang Ya couldn't have any complaints.

Touching the orange cat's small head, Wang Ya said with deep meaning, "You're my trump card. Taking down the Shark Gang depends entirely on you!"

...

The night sky was always overcast, with strange Gothic buildings towering high. Beneath the superficial grandeur, the dark alleys harbored filth and crime. This was Gotham City, one of the cities with the highest crime rates in America.

The city's hustle and bustle had not yet ceased, with neon lights appearing everywhere. Of course, for the people in the Bru District, which was the Slums, most had no part in it. Only their respective gangs would be having a party tonight.

The Shark Gang was no exception. In the words of their boss, Kendis, "Although our Shark Gang is the poorest and worst gang in the Slums, we are ambitious. As long as we work hard, we can become as formidable as the Mud Gang, the Red Hood Gang, and the Whisper Society."

Kendis was also the number one fan of Kingpin, the underground emperor of New York City, always striving to emulate him, even though the busy philanthropist Kingpin... had no idea there was such a devoted fan in distant Gotham City!

"Cheers!"

"Drink... until we drop..."

At Kendis Bar, the clinking of glasses echoed as members of the Shark Gang entertained themselves, some playing cards, others billiards...

"Where's that guy Doug? He hasn't come back all day. Looks like I'll have to cover his bottle!"

A Black man chuckled, playing a King!

"Who knows! Didn't he go to catch someone? He should be back by now!"

The White strongman Jiedun, also the Shark Gang's number one enforcer, stood at one meter ninety, with bulging muscles. His powerful arms had strangled many people.

After playing an Ace, Jiedun roughly grabbed the scantily clad bar girl next to him, who could only smile and silently endure.

If she didn't want to die in an unvisited sewer, her best option was to endure. A worse fate would be to be tortured to death by a dozen filthy men...

Boss Kendis wore a fancy shirt, a cheap cigar dangling from his mouth, imitating the mannerisms of the great philanthropist Kingpin. Unfortunately, neither his temperament nor his fat, big-eared physique brought him anywhere close to the underground emperor.

This was the Bru District, the Slums—the poorest area even within the Bru District. Even if they were the kings of this Bru District, there wasn't much profit to be made.

Almost all of the Shark Gang were reveling in Kendis Bar. The annual gang festival was the most anticipated event for all gang members.

The chime of the doorbell rang, and everyone's eyes turned to see who was so bold as to intrude at this time.

Meow~

An orange cat with black tiger stripes walked in, its large round eyes filled with confusion.

"It's just a cat!"

Sende (Black), who was playing cards, breathed a sigh of relief. Then, a mischievous idea came to him. He prepared to catch the cat and play an interesting game, considering it a reward for intruding.

As he was about to make his move, he was held back by a hand—Jiedun's hand—which startled him, fearing that hand would land on his neck.

Jiedun walked over, picking up the orange cat with an incredibly doting expression, and continuously played with it.

Everyone stared, dumbfounded, at the Shark Gang's number one enforcer, the ruthless Jiedun, being so incredibly doting towards an inexplicably arrived orange cat.

Had Jiedun gone mad...?

As their gaze fell upon the orange cat enjoying the petting, they suddenly realized how adorable this cat was. An irresistible urge made them want to go and play with and pet the orange cat.

Even Kendis's cigar fell to the ground as he stared blankly at the orange cat in Jiedun's arms.

"Jiedun! Quick, let me see the orange cat!"

Kendis spoke, his tone very serious. Jiedun's face showed hesitation and reluctance, but under the pressure from his boss, he had no choice but to put the orange cat down.

Under Kendis's coaxing, the orange cat went towards him, eventually settling on the sofa, enjoying his petting and playing.

The others continued drinking, seemingly not bothered by this little interlude, though their occasional glances showed that their hearts were not so calm.

Meow~

The orange cat enjoyed the petting. After about seven or eight minutes, it began to lick Kendis's face and throat with immense eagerness.

"What a mischievous little darling!"

Meow~

"Ah... Ah..."

Boss Kendis suddenly screamed. A large chunk of his face had been bitten off. The others, startled, looked over and saw that it was the orange cat that had done it, biting off most of Kendis's face.

The bar girl let out a shriek!

"Damn it!"

Sende (Black) drew the dagger from his waist and charged towards the orange cat, ready to save the day.

But he was slapped away by Jiedun.

"Don't hurt it, my little darling!"

Jiedun's face showed hesitation, but more so, an unwillingness to harm and doting affection for the orange cat. He would not allow anyone to hurt the orange cat.

Sende was horrified to realize that not only Jiedun, but also other members of the Shark Gang looked at the orange cat with reluctance and doting affection. If he were to lay a hand on the orange cat, he would probably be torn apart by his own people first.

Over on the sofa, with the indifference of the first-tier gang members, Boss Kendis was gloriously bitten through the neck by the orange cat, disemboweled, and died in immense pain, blood flowing all over the floor from the sofa.

Meow~

A cat's meow, full of irresistible charm, rang out, and Sende's gaze also gradually softened, becoming like the others, filled with doting affection and love for the orange cat.

The blood-soaked orange cat jumped off the sofa and scurried to the doorway, where it playfully rolled at the feet of an Asian youth who had arrived at some unknown time, as if asking for praise, or perhaps saying, "Master, look how well I've performed, aren't you going to reward me!"

"From today onwards, I am the owner of Kendis Bar. You have no objections, do you?"

Wang Ya pulled out the sentient gun hidden behind his back, its dark muzzle pointing at everyone. No one present dared to speak.

"No one's talking! So, no objections then!"

Bang!

The explosive bullet directly shattered Kendis's body into pieces, creating a crater in the floor.

The members of the Shark Gang stared wide-eyed, disbelieving. The submachine gun had fired an explosion. What kind of weapon was this? Fear involuntarily emanated from their hearts.

Meow~

Accompanied by the orange cat's meow, everyone finally gave up resisting, bowing their heads and shouting in unison, "Boss!"

Meow!

The orange cat raised its head and tiptoed in.

[SCP-247 - Harmless Kitten]

[Description: Appears to be a small female cat with orange and black tiger stripes. Feeding and still photographs also show this, but it is merely a disguise. Its true form is an adult Bengal tiger, capable of spreading a mental memetic effect that subconsciously makes all sentient life within its range perceive it as harmless and feel an irresistible urge to dote on and not harm it, finding it incredibly adorable.]
