As Kaiya further opened the curtains revealing the view from the window of her room, large skyscrapers made up of shining glass, glistening off all the sunlight that fell on them.
Titanic bunker-like houses, floating buses, trains traveling in air. High-tech roads.
That was all what she expected to see, but to her fortunate eyes it was just a normal 21st century road below her window with cars waiting at the red light with their engines roaring. People looking at their watches with tensed faces.
"Wait, what?" she jeered in shock, "How come I am in the modern world?" she asked to no one.
The voice in her head replied, [We are not role playing a novel here. What did you want to become an elf or perhaps a dwarf where you would have your balls.]
Kaiya squinted her eyes, making a ballsy expression, "Why the fuck can't you reply straight to my answers?" she sneered.
She jumped on the bed with a groan, "Damn it all."
She picked up her phone and tried filling the password, once, twice and again but every time it returned wrong, by now Kaiya had lost her temper and threw the phone on the bed.
Suddenly someone knocked on the door, and before Kaiya could straighten up, the door opened and another beauty entered the room.
Kaiya suddenly shot up from her bed, looking dazed at the girl standing before her. 'Whoa, look at that body, damn.'
There stood a girl who looked identical to Kaiya, her long black hair, pressed and groomed properly. They reached her waist, and the tight bodycon dress just ended a little below her thighs.
She wore stylish glasses and her face was just... like an angel.
She looked at Kaiya and her expression changed to stunned.
"Sis, you are not ready yet?" she asked, as if looking at a completely unexpected scene. "For god's sake, wear something and please don't let me be late."
After saying that, she strode out of the room.
Kaiya was frozen completely, and couldn't even speak in front of the otherworldly beauty.
Then she silently lowered and sat back on the bed, lost in thoughts.
'She just called me sis, right? From my memory, she must be Viviana'
After some time, Kaiya finally snapped out of her daze. She rummaged through the closet, her new body's memories guiding her hands like an autopilot.
She pulled out an erotic black dress—sleeveless, with a plunging neckline that hugged her ample curves like a second skin, the fabric shimmering under the room's lights and ending mid-thigh to show off her smooth, toned legs. It was the kind of outfit that could make any boy go head over heels, her breasts straining against the top, nipples faintly outlined if she moved just right.
She slipped it on, feeling a strange thrill as the material clung to her hips and ass. "Not bad," she muttered, glancing in the mirror. "If I can't have my balls back, at least I've got these assets."
She fixed her short blue hair quickly, letting it frame her pink cat-like eyes, and headed downstairs, her heels clicking softly on the wooden steps.
In the kitchen, her mother and sister were already seated at the table. The aroma of fresh coffee and toasted bread filled the air.
Her mother, a stern woman in her mid-forties with sharp features and tired eyes, gave Kaiya a piercing glare as she entered but said nothing, her lips pressed into a thin line. She just pushed a plate toward the empty seat without a word.
Viviana, on the other hand, was glued to her phone, fingers flying across the screen as she texted away, occasionally smirking at whatever message popped up. She didn't even look up when Kaiya sat down.
Kaiya slid into her chair silently, grabbing a sandwich from the plate. She bit into it, the crunch of lettuce and ham filling the awkward quiet.
As she chewed, fragments of memories flooded her mind—Kaiya's original memories, syncing deeper now that she was in this body.
It all started when their father ran off with another woman years ago, leaving their mother to raise two daughters alone.
She'd worked multiple jobs, scraping by in this cutthroat world where magic wasn't just fantasy.
People awakened their magic affinities around age 16, and those who passed the aptitude test could become hunters, diving into dungeons that popped up randomly across the globe.
These rifts in reality spat out monsters, treasures, and cores that powered everything from smartphones to skyscrapers. Selling monster parts, cores, and artifacts was how the elite made their fortunes.
Without magic, you were nothing—a second-class citizen stuck in mundane jobs, forever in the shadow of the awakened.
And Kaiya? At 16, she'd failed the magic aptitude test spectacularly. Zero affinity. Her stats had been a joke ever since—no class, no skills, just a big fat null.
Everything shattered that day.
Her mother's disappointment had been palpable, turning their already strained home into a cold war zone.
Viviana on the other hand, the golden child, had awakened with a rare affinity for shadow magic, skyrocketing her into the hunter academies. Now she was on track to become a pro, while Kaiya... well, the original Kaiya had been drifting, taking odd jobs and dreaming of a way out.
'Great, so I'm in a modern world with dungeons and magic, but I'm still a loser,' Kaiya thought, swallowing another bite. 'System, any way to fix this zero affinity crap?'
[Oh, now you want my help? Keep eating your sandwich, Host. We'll talk upgrades later—if you earn them.]
Kaiya rolled her eyes, finishing her meal in silence as her mother finally stood up, grabbing her keys. "Hurry up, both of you." Her voice was clipped, laced with unspoken resentment.
Viviana pocketed her phone with a sigh. "Coming, Mom. Sis, you look... different today. That dress is bold. Trying to snag a hunter boyfriend or something?"
Kaiya forced a smile, her mind racing. "Something like that." Inside, though, she was plotting. 'If magic's the key, I'll find a way to grind these stats. After all i've got this cheat... however dumbass it may be.'
