Chapter 34 - Bab 34.

The Unfamiliar Fire

Late night had enveloped the city, yet Wei Yu Chen's penthouse was still filled with the faint aroma of coffee a blend of masculine cologne and neat hair product.

His footsteps sounded steady on the wooden floor, a

soft echo accompanying every movement. After settling the crucial business at Chenxi She, the night felt quieter, yet his mind was still busy revolving around work strategy and Xiaoxi's contract.

Inside the home, the subdued lights cast a warm glow, illuminating the modern and luxurious interior design. Cream leather sofas, minimalist glass-covered bookshelves, crystal chandeliers reflecting soft light, and polished wooden floors every detail affirmed Yu Chen's premium taste. Even the lingering aroma of fresh coffee in the kitchen added a touch of comfort.

When he opened the door to the master bedroom, the sight before him made his steps pause momentarily. Xiaoxi was fast asleep, her body small yet proportionate, a thin blanket covering part of her. The falling fabric was slightly parted, revealing the smooth curve of her thigh, displaying a soft contrast between her pale skin and the warm bedroom light.

Yu Chen swallowed his breath. His gaze slowly swept over Xiaoxi's body—from the delicate line of her shoulder, her slender arms, to the balanced curve of her waist. A surge of unfamiliar sensation arose, different from what he had felt before. All this time, Yu Chen's passion had only been kindled for Li Yuan Bo; yet tonight, Xiaoxi's tranquility and softness evoked a desire to protect and… a heat he found hard to control.

He stood for a moment, maintaining his distance. His face remained cold, his expression almost emotionless, but the subtle furrow in his brow and his tensed jaw indicated an internal struggle. His right hand, usually quick to sign contracts or organize shoots, now clenched the air, heavy with the effort to resist the urge to approach.

The bedroom light reflected in Xiaoxi's slightly messy hair, which fell softly against her cheek. Her breathing was steady, her chest rising and falling, indicating the depth of her sleep. The atmosphere was silent, broken only by the faint ticking of the wall clock, lending a slow, stressful rhythm.

Every detail—the light reflecting on Xiaoxi's skin, the softness of her hair, the delicacy of her sleeping form made Yu Chen realize: this night would leave a profound mark on him. And though he was a cold, decisive alpha, in the presence of Xiaoxi, something new was beginning to emerge, slowly but surely.

Yu Chen stood by the side of the bed, his gaze fixated on Xiaoxi's peacefully sleeping form. The soft light of the room cast a warm glow on her smooth skin, highlighting the line of her shoulder, the curve of her waist, and the hint of her thigh covered by the thin blanket—a sight that was not only stimulating but also triggered a sensation already familiar to Yu Chen.

All this time, passion like this had always been reserved for Li Yuan Bo, but tonight was different. There was something more subtle, deeper, enveloping every beat of his pulse. The silence of the room made every second heavy Xiaoxi's tranquil breathing, Yu Chen's stifled exhales, even the rustle of the blanket covering Xiaoxi seemed to bear witness to the tension slowly building.

With cautious steps, Yu Chen approached, his hand, usually firm, now trembling slightly as it traced the blanket, covering Xiaoxi's slightly exposed thigh. His heart beat faster, but not with the familiar possessiveness he felt for Li Yuan Bo. This time there was a confounding combination of warmth, admiration, and… desire. Every inch of Xiaoxi's body seemed to call out to him to protect, to be present, yet he knew his limits.

Yu Chen hastily covered Xiaoxi's thigh completely with the blanket. His breathing was heavy, his chest pounding, and his hands gripped the blanket with a subtle tension not roughly, but full of internal strain. This sensation was foreign, not because it was the first time he felt passion, but because Xiaoxi evoked a different kind of tremor: soft, warm, yet tempting his awareness and self-control.

His expression remained cold on the surface, but his brows subtly furrowed, his jaw clenched. His tall physique radiated the alpha aura that usually conquered business and people around him, now defeated by a delicate restlessness that made him look down for a moment.

That night, in the silent, luxurious room, Yu Chen realized he was beginning to feel another side of himself a side that didn't just want to dominate, but also wanted to protect, wanting to be present with full attentiveness toward Xiaoxi.

Every second he spent there felt charged with tension and warmth. The luxurious room atmosphere, the soft light, the lingering perfume scent, and the silence broken only by his own heartbeat and breath, made that night so different making him realize that Xiaoxi was not just an ordinary girl in his life, but a figure who had evoked something he had never felt with this intensity before.

Yu Chen looked back at Xiaoxi, who was still sound asleep. The lamp light reflected softly on her skin, emphasizing the contours of her face and the lines of her body sleeping peacefully. His heart trembled—it was not the first time he felt passion, but this time it felt different. There was something deeper, more personal, that penetrated his self-control.

Yu Chen's body was tense; every muscle seemed to

have a life of its own. His breath caught slightly as his gaze swept back over the thin blanket covering Xiaoxi.

The sensation that coursed through him was not merely physical arousal; there was warmth, admiration, and a desire to protect all mixed into one. His heart rate seemed to exceed the normal limit, yet his expression remained outwardly cold, masking the fiery internal turmoil.

With slow movement, his hand rested on the edge of the blanket, adjusting it to keep Xiaoxi's body neatly covered. In his mind, a thousand thoughts raced: he knew his limits, he knew this feeling should not get out of control, but every second he spent near Xiaoxi was like a magnet drawing him closer.

The silence of the luxurious room added to the intensity

of the moment. The soft perfume aroma, Xiaoxi's whispered breaths, and the warm light from the lamp created an intimacy he rarely experienced before. Yu Chen felt a tremor that was familiar yet different not towards Li Yuan Bo, but towards Xiaoxi. A tremor that made him realize that night, something had changed within him.

He lowered his head for a moment, suppressing a sigh that wanted to escape, and took a deep breath. Yu Chen's thoughts were a mix of desire and propriety, of passion and responsibility.

The wave of heat sweeping his body, his rapidly beating heart, and his hand unconsciously clenching something down there that was already very hard and stiff, made him realize: Xiaoxi had brought out another side of him a human, warm, yet wild side that he had controlled with discipline all this time.

The wave of heat sweeping Yu Chen's body became increasingly unbearable. He stared at the mirror in his penthouse's luxurious bathroom, the warm light reflecting on the marble tiles, mirroring the sharp silhouette of his tall, muscular body. His breathing was heavy, his chest pounded, and his fingers unconsciously pressed against the side of the washbasin, trying to calm the turbulence that seized his entire body.

With a steady yet cautious stride, Yu Chen turned on the warm water tap. Steam began to fill the bathroom, drifting in the air like a thin mist, creating an intimate atmosphere that only he and himself were aware of. He stepped into the shower, warm water flowing down his body, washing away the sweat and accumulated tension.

Every drop of water touching his skin seemed to intensify the sensation he had long felt, but this time it was different: there was a heat flowing from the core of his body, a need that had to be released, and a tension demanding relief. His body tensed as the muscles in his back and arms adjusted position under the shower, water drenching his jet-black hair and dripping down his defined jawline.

In that solitude, Yu Chen focused his entire attention on his own bodily sensations. His breath sounded heavy amidst the rush of water, his chest rising and falling quickly, while his mind and instinct clashed: the desire to master the passion that was so unusual, yet he held back with the discipline he always maintained.

Every movement under the shower, every muscle strain, and every heartbeat felt like an internal symphony that only he could hear.

After some time, he took a long breath, turned off the

tap, and stared at his reflection in the mirror again. Although his body was calmer, the heat had not entirely vanished. That wave of passion left a mark a strange yet captivating sensation that made him realize Xiaoxi had brought out another side of him: a side that had only existed for Li Yuan Bo, now appearing for a woman who was completely different.

Yu Chen wiped his face, straightened his body, and stared into the mirror with sharp eyes. He knew, tonight was the night that awakened something he had never felt before. A new awareness had surfaced, a passion he had to understand, control, and… which would surely influence his interactions with Xiaoxi in the days to come.
