Chapter 187 - Chapter 186 - The Consequences after the Punch

Silence.

A suffocating, impossible silence swallowed the auction house.

Saint Charloss's body skidded across the marble floor, his massive frame crashing into rows of shattered seats before stopping in a heap. His bubble helmet cracked, spiderweb fractures spreading across its surface.

For several seconds—

No one breathed.

Then chaos erupted.

"HE—HE HIT HIM!!"

"A Celestial Dragon was attacked!!"

"That pirate punched Saint Charloss!!"

Nobles scrambled backward in terror, chairs toppling as panic spread like wildfire. Some screamed, others trembled, staring at Luffy as if he were no longer human.

Near the front row, two figures stood frozen.

Saint Roswald's face twisted in disbelief, monocle nearly falling from his eye.

"…Charloss…?"

Beside him, Saint Shalria's expression warped into fury. "…A COMMONER… struck brother?!"

Her voice rose into a shriek.

"CALL THE ADMIRAL!! IMMEDIATELY!!"

Government agents snapped into action, fumbling for Den Den Mushi.

"Yes, Saint Shalria!"

"They must be exterminated at once!"

Meanwhile—

Luffy casually dusted off his hands.

He turned toward the stunned crowd and scratched his cheek.

"Ah… sorry, guys," he said plainly. "I punched this guy because he was annoying."

The entire hall stared at him in disbelief.

An awkward pause.

"Oh—and an admiral's probably coming," Luffy added casually. "You guys should leave."

That was all it took.

Panic exploded.

"AN ADMIRAL?!"

"RUN!!"

Nobles stampeded toward the exits, trampling over one another in desperation. Auction staff abandoned their posts as the once-luxurious hall turned into a fleeing sea of silk and jewels.

Within moments, the grand auction house began emptying.

Marineford

Far across the sea, inside the fortress of justice—

A Den Den Mushi screamed loudly across Fleet Admiral Sengoku's office.

Papers rustled as Sengoku grabbed the receiver sharply. "This is Sengoku."

The voice on the other end trembled with panic.

"S-Sir! Emergency report from Sabaody Archipelago! A Celestial Dragon has been assaulted!"

Sengoku froze. "…What?"

"Straw Hat Luffy has struck Saint Charloss!"

CRACK.

The receiver dented slightly in Sengoku's grip as veins bulged on his forehead.

"That damn Straw Hat again!!" he roared, slamming his desk. "I knew he'd cause trouble!"

Behind him—

A thunderous laugh suddenly erupted.

"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!"

Vice Admiral Garp nearly fell back in his chair, clutching his stomach from laughter.

Sengoku slowly turned, fury radiating from him. "…GARP."

Garp wiped tears from his eyes, still laughing. "So the brat finally did it, huh? Bwahahaha!"

"DAMMIT, GARP!" Sengoku shouted. "It's your grandson again! We haven't had a pirate harm a Celestial Dragon in years!"

He paced angrily across the room.

"The last one who did it was Nyx D. Ada… and now your grandson is following in her footsteps!"

Garp grinned proudly, completely unfazed.

"Well, sounds like he's got guts."

Sengoku's jaw twitched violently.

His expression darkened further.

"And that bastard Kuma… claiming he would eliminate Straw Hat. Completely unreliable!"

Garp snorted.

"Well, you never did trust those Warlords to begin with," he said, laughing again. "Bwahahaha!"

Sengoku slammed another stack of papers onto his desk. "This isn't funny!"

He stood abruptly, turning toward a nearby marine officer.

"You! Contact Admiral Kizaru immediately!"

"Yes, sir!"

Sengoku's eyes hardened with authority.

"I want Straw Hat's head. He attacked a Celestial Dragon."

At that moment, the office doors slid open.

A tall figure stepped inside lazily, hands tucked into his pockets.

"Arara… Sengoku-san," Admiral Kizaru said in his slow, relaxed tone. "What seems to be the problem?"

Sengoku glared at him. "Straw Hat Luffy assaulted a Celestial Dragon at Sabaody."

Kizaru's sunglasses gleamed faintly.

"Oh my… that's scary."

"Head there now," Sengoku ordered sharply. "Immediately."

Kizaru shrugged lightly. "Well then… guess I'll take a little trip."

Light began to gather faintly around his body.

Behind Sengoku, Garp crossed his arms, still smiling faintly.

"Heh… Luffy, you idiot kid…"

The room filled with tension as justice itself prepared to move.

Human Auctioning House

Tears streamed down Camie's face inside the shattered tank. "A human… protected us…"

Hatchan clutched his wound, eyes shaking with emotion.

"…Straw Hat…"

Pappag sobbed openly. "I can't believe it…!"

Camie cried harder. "Because of me… an admiral will come here…"

Luffy smiled gently. "It's okay. We'll handle that later."

He placed his straw hat firmly on his head.

"I already told you I'd protect you guys."

He turned.

"Franky! Find the keys!"

Franky cracked his knuckles. "SUPER! Leave it to me!"

Across the hall—

Roswald trembled with rage. "Unforgivable… WHERE IS THE ADMIRAL?!"

"The marines are on their way, sir!" an agent replied.

Unable to wait, Roswald raised his gun. "I will execute them myself!"

BANG!

Before the shot could reach—

Sanji's leg flashed.

SMASH!

The weapon shattered midair.

At the same instant, Zoro stepped forward, blades ready, deflecting incoming guards without even looking impressed.

"You people talk too much," Zoro muttered.

Sanji exhaled smoke coolly. "No one points guns at our friends."

Fury twisted Roswald's face—

—but suddenly Shalria rushed forward, grabbing another pistol.

She aimed directly at Camie.

"You pirates!" she screamed. "This all started because of this damned mermaid!"

Camie froze, trembling.

"I'll kill you all! The admiral will execute you anyway and bring me your heads!"

Her finger tightened on the trigger—

Then—

A pressure descended.

Heavy.

Overwhelming.

Invisible.

BOOOOOOM.

A wave of Conqueror's Haki exploded through the auction house.

Shalria's eyes rolled back instantly.

She collapsed before she could fire.

One by one, guards and remaining agents fell unconscious, bodies dropping like puppets with cut strings.

The air itself felt heavier.

From behind the curtains, footsteps echoed slowly.

An old man emerged, cloak swaying gently.

Calm eyes scanned the destroyed hall.

"I see…" he said quietly. "So this is what happened."

His gaze landed on Hatchan. "…Hatchan? Is that you?"

Hatchan winced, smiling weakly. "Ray-san…"

The old man sighed softly. "It's been a while."

Another pulse of Haki spread outward—

The remaining conscious guards collapsed instantly.

Across the room, two pirate crews watched carefully.

Eustass Kid grinned, eyes sharp. "That man… he's no ordinary old geezer."

Trafalgar Law narrowed his gaze. "…A living legend."

Nearby, the Straw Hats felt the overwhelming presence.

Usopp swallowed. "T-That power…"

Sanji murmured, "It feels like when Luffy…"

Zoro smirked slightly. "Yeah."

The old man finally turned toward Luffy.

Their eyes met.

Recognition flickered.

A small smile formed beneath the man's stubble.

"That straw hat," he said calmly, "suits a fearless man like you… Monkey D. Luffy."

The auction house fell silent once more—

Not from fear.

But from the arrival of a legend.

————————

Smoke drifted through the shattered hall as distant sounds of fighting echoed from outside. The remaining slaves huddled together, trembling, their collars glinting ominously under the broken chandelier lights.

Camie stood frozen, hands shaking near the heavy metal ring locked around her neck.

"I… I'm scared…" she whispered.

Rayleigh slowly stepped forward, calm as ever.

"Don't worry," he said gently. "I'll free you."

Pappag immediately puffed up, alarmed.

"W-WAIT!! Old man, don't touch it!" he shouted. "Those collars explode if you try anything!"

Usopp waved his arms frantically. "Yeah! They'll blow your head off!"

Chopper panicked beside him. "Franky's already looking for the keys! Just wait a little!"

Rayleigh chuckled softly.

"Relax," he said. "It'll be fine."

The Straw Hats exchanged nervous looks.

Zoro narrowed his eyes. "He sounds pretty confident…"

Rayleigh placed one hand lightly on Camie's shoulder.

"Stay still," he told her kindly.

Camie nodded, though her eyes squeezed shut in fear.

The old pirate's fingers moved toward the collar.

A faint, invisible pressure filled the air.

Not loud.

Not flashy.

Just overwhelming presence.

A subtle black sheen coated Rayleigh's fingers — Armament Haki.

He grasped the collar.

Click.

With a precise motion, he separated the internal mechanism without triggering the explosive core.

The metal ring fell apart harmlessly into his hand.

No explosion.

No spark.

Silence.

For a full second, nobody moved.

Then—

"EH?!?!" Usopp screamed.

Chopper's jaw dropped. "I-IT DIDN'T EXPLODE?!"

Nami blinked repeatedly. "He… disarmed it?"

Sanji stared, cigarette nearly falling from his mouth. "That's insane…"

Even Zoro smirked in disbelief. "What kind of power is that?"

Camie slowly touched her neck. "…I'm… free?"

Tears instantly streamed down her face.

"I'm FREE!!"

She burst into sobs of relief as Pappag jumped around her excitedly.

"CAMIE!! YOU'RE OKAY!!"

Hatchan wiped his eyes, overwhelmed. "Ray-san… thank you…"

At that exact moment—

"STARBOARD SIDE CLEAR!!"

Franky burst into the hall carrying a massive ring of keys over his shoulder.

"I got the keys, guys! SUPER suc—"

He stopped mid-sentence.

Camie stood there without a collar.

Franky blinked.

"…Well."

He shrugged.

"Looks like you guys don't need the key anymore."

Luffy grinned widely. "Oi, Franky! Give the keys to the other slaves!"

"Got it, bro!"

Franky tossed the keys toward the trembling captives.

The slaves hesitated at first, fear still etched into their faces. Slowly, shakily, they unlocked one another's collars.

One by one—

Click.

Clank.

Drop.

Chains fell to the floor across the auction house.

Some slaves collapsed crying.

Others bowed deeply toward the Straw Hats.

"T-Thank you…!"

"We won't forget this kindness!"

"You saved us…"

Luffy scratched the back of his head, smiling casually.

"Don't worry about it," he said. "I just don't like seeing people in chains."

"Shishishi!"

The crew smiled warmly at their captain.

Nami crossed her arms with a soft grin. "That's so like him."

Chopper sniffled happily. "Luffy's the best…"

Sanji nodded proudly. "A captain worth following."

Robin watched quietly, eyes gentle.

Nearby, Rayleigh observed Luffy in silence.

A small smile formed on his face.

For a brief moment—

Rayleigh's memories drifted back to another time… another sea.

A younger voice spoke beside him.

"Rayleigh… do you know what I hate the most in this world?"

Rayleigh glanced at her, curious. "What is it, Ada?"

Ada's gaze hardened as she looked out over the horizon. "Seeing people chained… forced to bow to those nobles and their so-called 'gods.'"

The wind passed quietly between them.

Rayleigh studied her expression before asking gently, "…Is it because of your past, Ada?"

Ada smiled faintly — not happy, but resolute.

"Yes… and because of everything I've experienced in this lifetime."

Her eyes carried both pain and unbreakable determination.

"No one deserves to live in chains."

Rayleigh's eyes softened.

He looked back at Luffy — laughing freely among the people he had just saved.

"…Just like back then," Rayleigh murmured quietly.

Then—

Rayleigh tilted his head slightly, his sharp eyes shifting toward the ceiling.

"…Hmm."

The Straw Hats noticed the change in his expression immediately.

"What is it, Ray-san?" Robin asked calmly.

Rayleigh smiled faintly. "Looks like the Marines have already surrounded this place."

Right on cue—

From outside came the distant stomping of boots, shouted orders, and the metallic clatter of weapons being prepared.

Usopp stiffened. "T-That sounds like… a LOT of Marines!"

Zoro smirked, resting a hand on his swords. "Good. I was getting bored."

Luffy grinned, cracking his knuckles.

"Alright!"

Rayleigh looked at him with amusement.

"Why don't you youngsters handle that first," he said casually. "Afterward, we'll head over to Shakky's bar."

Luffy nodded immediately. "Sure!"

Sanji lit a cigarette. "Sounds like a warm-up."

Franky flexed. "SUPER timing!"

The Straw Hats began heading toward the shattered entrance—

—but another voice stopped them.

"Oi."

Everyone turned.

Standing nearby with their crews were two other pirate captains who had remained inside during the chaos.

Eustass Kid grinned viciously, metal scraps already beginning to rattle around his arm.

"You can't hog all the glory, Straw Hat."

Beside him, Trafalgar Law adjusted his hat calmly, eyes sharp.

"It wouldn't be fair if you handled everything yourselves."

Luffy blinked.

"Oh! You guys are coming too?"

Kid scowled. "Don't act friendly with me!"

Law sighed. "This isn't cooperation. Think of it as… overlapping interests."

Zoro smirked. "Sounds like cooperation to me."

"Shut it, swordsman," Kid snapped.

Luffy laughed. "Alright then! Let's go!"

———————

Outside

The doors burst open.

Sunlight poured over the plaza as the pirates stepped outside together.

Rows upon rows of Marines surrounded the auction house, rifles raised, cannons positioned, officers shouting commands.

A Marine captain froze when he saw who emerged.

"…W-Wait…"

His eyes widened in horror.

"T-THAT'S—!!"

Another Marine shouted loudly.

"Captain Eustass Kid!!"

"Straw Hat Luffy!!"

"And Trafalgar Law!!"

Panic spread instantly through the ranks.

"All three of them have bounties over 100 million berries!!"

"The Worst Generation captains are together?!"

The Marines hesitated, fear visibly shaking their formation.

Kid cracked his neck. "Heh… look at them trembling."

Law rested a hand on his sword. "They know exactly how bad this situation is."

Luffy stepped forward, smiling brightly.

"Alright! Let's do this!"

A Marine officer shouted desperately.

"FIRE!!"

Gunshots exploded across the plaza.

Luffy vanished forward.

"Gomu Gomu no—"

He stretched into the crowd—

"—Bazooka!!"

BOOOOM!

A wave of Marines flew backward, crashing into walls and collapsing in a pile.

At the same time—

Metal debris shot through the air toward Kid, assembling into a massive mechanical arm.

"Punk Gibson!"

CRASH!

His giant metal fist smashed into a squadron, sending bodies scattering.

Nearby, Law calmly raised his hand.

"ROOM."

A spherical space expanded outward.

"Shambles."

In an instant, Marines swapped places with cannonballs and crashed into each other in complete confusion.

"W-What just happened?!" one soldier yelled before being knocked out.

Luffy laughed as he punched another Marine away. "This is fun!"

Kid snarled while crushing rifles into scrap.

"Don't slow me down, Straw Hat!"

"You're the one moving slow!" Luffy shot back.

Law sighed, dodging bullets effortlessly.

"Both of you are unnecessarily loud."

"Oh yeah?" Kid growled. "You barely look like you're trying!"

Law sliced through incoming attacks calmly.

"I prefer efficiency."

Zoro cut through a line of Marines nearby. "Idots, they're arguing while fighting."

Sanji kicked three Marines at once. "Idiots with monster strength."

Usopp ducked behind Franky. "WHY ARE THEY COMPETING?!"

Franky laughed. "Because they're pirates, bro!"

Explosions, punches, and shockwaves tore through the plaza as the three captains carved a path through the Marine forces.

Within minutes—

The encirclement collapsed.

Marines lay scattered across the ground, defeated and groaning.

Smoke drifted through the air.

Luffy stretched his arms back to normal, grinning. "That was quick!"

Kid scoffed. "Hmph. Barely a warm-up."

Law glanced toward the distant mangroves, expression thoughtful.

"…The real problem hasn't arrived yet."

Far above Sabaody—

Light shimmered faintly in the sky.

An admiral was coming.
