Like waves of a current, heat coursed through my veins at the closeness. All reasoning was thrown out of the window as my lips fell on hers—hot, demanding, provocative and charged with longing.
Her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, her fingers tangled in my hair, sending a shiver through me, my lower abdomen tightened.
Karl growled in the back of my mind with excitement, his voice fierce and urging, chanting just two words, "Claim her! Claim her!"
But I could not bring myself to do as he demanded. She was still under the influence of wine—uncertain of what she wanted.
