Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Loki's Faceless

[Given that this is the host's first contact with "Magic Loan", the minimum interest rate will be applied.]

[Task modification in progress...]

[Loan Task: Perfect mastery of Transfiguration]

Looking at the new task content, Leo breathed a sigh of relief. This at least seemed to have hope of completion.

"System, what's the standard for perfect mastery?"

[Learn and master all existing Transfiguration knowledge, be able to apply it skillfully, and develop new directions in Transfiguration.]

Hearing the system's explanation, Leo fell into deep thought. Master all related knowledge and be able to use it skilfully... but the key was still developing new directions. In other words, it required him to innovate and break new ground.

Transfiguration itself was a crucial part of magic. To truly achieve perfect mastery would definitely require a tremendous amount of time and energy, unless...

Leo's eyes flickered. He believed this loan task was not impossible to complete. Because among Loki's magical talents, the strongest was Transfiguration (SSS)!

The system's talent level classification for magic was: E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS. Among these, S-level meant genius beyond the ordinary. Possessing talent of this level was enough to pioneer in the corresponding field and leave a rich and colourful mark in history.

What about SSS level then? In the system's evaluation, this already belonged to the realm of gods!

After Leo received the reward and gained such talent, he would be unmatched in learning Transfiguration.

[Do you accept the 'Loki's Faceless' loan?]

"Accept."

Leo didn't hesitate. After all, if the loan task failed, it would only mean the reward would be taken back. He was going to learn various magic anyway, and if he could possess Loki's magical talent, it would naturally bring tremendous help.

A half-real, half-illusory mask suddenly appeared in front of Leo. The overall colour was black-green, with the two eye sockets and mouth constantly changing positions. The shape of the mask was also continuously transforming, sometimes fitting human features, sometimes changing into beast-like faces...

[Evaluation: Fixed form is the limitation of mortals; for Loki, transformation is truth.]

Just as Leo looked up, "Loki's Faceless" had already covered his handsome face. The mask softened into a pool of black-green liquid, covering Leo's nose and mouth, then spreading to his hair tips, finally completely enveloping his head.

However, Leo didn't feel suffocated. Waves of invisible fluctuations emanated from within his body, reverberating throughout the entire bedroom.

After several minutes of silence...

Buzz buzz...

Creak creak...

The bed, tables, chairs, and tea sets in the room began to tremble. Some wooden items turned into steel or stone, and the surfaces of original objects actually grew feathers, scales, and other biological features.

In the living room downstairs, Lady Penelope was enjoying exquisite afternoon tea, occasionally turning the pages of the book in her hands.

"I've really been influenced by Leo. I don't feel comfortable without reading something every day."

A tabby cat walked gracefully toward Penelope. She thought it was a stray cat that had wandered into the house and was about to call the servants to drive it away.

But then she saw the tabby cat's form shimmer. It actually transformed into a lady wearing deep green robes and square glasses.

"Hello, I am Minerva McGonagall, a professor at Hogwarts. May I ask where Leonardo Grafton is?"

Penelope's red lips parted slightly, her right hand holding a pastry frozen in mid-air. She had just seen a cat turn into a woman? But after hearing the word "Hogwarts", Penelope immediately reacted and quickly composed her expression and demeanour.

"Hello, Professor McGonagall. I am Penelope Grafton, Leo's aunt. That child is upstairs..."

Before Penelope could finish, Professor McGonagall's eyes suddenly focused, as she sensed an obvious magical anomaly upstairs.

"My apologies." McGonagall interrupted Penelope and went straight up the stairs without further explanation.

Seeing her urgent movements, Penelope thought of Leo upstairs and followed behind.

Without needing guidance, Professor McGonagall arrived at the source of the magical disturbance: Leo's room. The surface of the original wooden door was covered by large patches of iron-black metal, with the remaining parts showing grey-white stone and yellow sandy soil textures.

She tried the door handle but found the door wouldn't budge at all.

"Transfiguration spell?" McGonagall murmured softly while drawing her wand and pointing it at the door. "Finite Incantatem."

The metallic and stone colours quickly faded, revealing the original wooden door.

Opening the door, the scene inside the room came into view of Professor McGonagall and Penelope, with the latter showing barely concealed shock on her face.

The originally neat and elegant room had completely changed. The soft bedding had become a pile of grass and flowers, some table and chair legs had grown fur and were running around the room playfully, books were opening and closing as they glided through the air...

There were even some wolf-like and snake-like creatures occupying the corners of the room. Their forms were extremely unstable, transforming between different species, making it impossible to discern their original appearance.

Sensing the movement at the door, all these living things turned their eyes toward the two ladies at the entrance.

Seeing this, Professor McGonagall waved her wand, and the Finite Incantatem spell precisely hit each target. Whether they were inanimate objects, living creatures, or those strange half-dead, half-alive things, they all returned to their original forms after being hit by the reversal spell.

Various pieces of furniture were scattered across the floor, as if the previous anomalies had been just an illusion.

Leo was floating in the centre of the room, his eyes tightly closed, and the black-green mask on his face had long since disappeared.

Seeing that the young man was safe and sound, Professor McGonagall breathed a sigh of relief. Normally, young wizards who had received their Hogwarts letters should have already experienced their initial magical outbursts.

That was the first time young wizards awakened their magic and came into contact with the existence of magic, and it could also reflect to some extent what magic a person excelled at and their corresponding talents.

But the Leo before her... Professor McGonagall couldn't understand why Leo would still have such a violent magical outburst, but one thing was certain: this young man's talent in Transfiguration!

Having taught at Hogwarts for decades and being a master in the field of Transfiguration, Minerva McGonagall keenly perceived Leo's extraordinariness. While unconscious, Leo had actually accomplished object transformation, transforming objects into living things, transformation between different species...

Many young wizards at Hogwarts couldn't master these even after systematically studying Transfiguration for four or five years!

Professor McGonagall's eyes brightened as she looked at Leo, like seeing an unpolished gem that already showed its lustre. "Such talent..."

Under the gaze of Professor McGonagall and Lady Penelope, Leo slowly descended to the ground. His dark golden hair was slightly dishevelled. Leo opened his eyes, and his originally deep black pupils now had a hint of green, becoming an overall dark green colour.

Leo looked toward the doorway. He saw that the stern professor was looking at him with eyes full of kindness and expectation.

"Hello, Leonardo."
