Blanche's POV
Lillian's fury erupted as she shoved Heidi Irvin with surprising force. "Heidi, what kind of mother is she? She hauled Carry upstairs just to strike her! If she harms Carry, Joanna will be crushed. Move aside. I'm checking on my granddaughter."
Heidi's grip tightened, refusing to release her hold.
"Mrs. Griselda, Mrs. Jacob has a gentle nature. She'd never raise a hand to Carry. Please don't fret," Heidi insisted.
Lillian fought to break free from Heidi's grasp, but her efforts proved futile, and she eventually surrendered.
Heidi remained vigilant, trailing Lillian's every move to prevent any attempt to slip upstairs and create chaos.
Upstairs, Carry had exhausted herself with tears and slumped against the couch.
Before long, sleep claimed her.
My heart twisted watching her small form.
Once Carry's breathing found its rhythm, I lifted her gently and carried her to bed, pulling the covers up to her chin.
