Chapter 6 - Mutants

"Is anyone alive?"

Two kilometers from the border checkpoint, the commander looked at the mercenaries sprawled on the ground, his expression grim.

It wasn't that he cared much for his subordinates, but he found it humiliating that these men, who had followed him for so many years, had been dealt with by two mutant children.

"They're all alive, but all are severely injured and unconscious. This is the recorder from captain Bill."

A mercenary subordinate removed the recorder and handed it to the commander.

The commander connected it to his laptop and began to watch the entire battle.

Five minutes later, his expression gradually became serious.

He had initially thought that X-23 and the wild mutant boy had teamed up to take down the squad.

That, he could barely accept.

After all, X-23 was trained by him personally, and he knew how strong X-23's combat abilities were.

With her healing factor, combat skills, and Adamantium claws, defeating a dozen mercenaries wasn't impossible.

Especially with the help of the wild mutant boy, who possessed immense strength.

But he hadn't expected that X-23 hadn't made a move at all; it was just the wild mutant boy.

Moreover, the entire battle was a complete and utter crush, with the opponents standing no chance.

Most importantly, this wild mutant boy clearly possessed extremely powerful combat skills and the heart of a warrior.

Having hunted so many mutants, he knew very well that while mutant abilities were formidable, even more terrifying were mutants who could fight.

A mutant, if he couldn't fight, had no combat experience, and was just an ordinary citizen in everyday life...

Then even if he was a Level Three or Level Four mutant, he wasn't much of a threat.

Perhaps an elite ordinary soldier could easily take him down with a surprise tranquilizer dart.

But if a mutant was an experienced warrior and could skillfully utilize his superpowers...

Even if he was only Level Two, he was an extremely troublesome opponent.

This wild mutant boy was clearly the latter, and crucially, based on his experience, his level was not low.

Powerful physical attributes and the ability to use illusions meant his mutant ability should have reached Level Three.

Before Dr.'s genetically modified food appeared, mutants were divided into five levels based on their abilities.

Epsilon-level, or Level One mutants, usually accounted for twenty percent of the total mutant population.

Their abilities were relatively weak, and most had physical appearance changes, such as thorns, horns, scales, or being semi-Beast-like.

Of course, one couldn't judge a mutant's strength solely by appearance changes.

Some mutants had altered appearances but their strength was more than Level One, like Beast, Mystique, and Nightcrawler.

Delta-level, Level Two mutants, accounted for about fifty percent of the total mutant population.

Their appearance was no different from ordinary people, and they possessed various decent superpowers; when their abilities were used well, they could already give fully armed, well-trained soldiers a headache.

Beta-level, Level Three mutants, accounted for ten percent. Their abilities were very strong and unstable; if controlled well, they were very formidable characters.

Most of the X-Men were at this level, including Wolverine, Cyclops, and Storm.

Alpha-level, Level Four mutants, were extremely rare. Their abilities were powerful enough to easily destroy cities, and human armies could hardly resist them.

The most representative were Professor X and Magneto.

Omega-level, Level Five mutants, were even rarer. The only one he knew of was Phoenix from the X-Men, who had died long ago.

This wild mutant boy, although he had a tail, had already reached the level of a Level Three mutant.

"Dr., I need to apply for the use of X-24, and to retrieve surveillance from El Paso to find the mission target…"

The commander quickly dialed Dr. Rice's number and reported the situation in detail.

Dr. Rice replied after listening:

"I will personally go with X-24. For surveillance, you go find John in El Paso; he will help you figure out how to retrieve the footage.

If you find the target, wait for me to arrive before taking action."

John was HYDRA's person in charge in El Paso County, and HYDRA was a very terrifying and powerful secret organization.

It was precisely because of his cooperation with this organization that he could sell his genetically modified products to every corner of the World.

And avoid S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation.

The surveillance in U.S. cities was not something he could access, but HYDRA could easily do it.

This organization seemed to have its own spies in governments all over the World.

"Order accepted!"

Inside the motel, Gabrielle secretly breathed a sigh of relief when she saw on her phone that Logan had accepted the order and was driving towards them.

The next step was how to persuade Wolverine to help.

She believed that even if a person encountered some changes or transformations, their fundamental nature was very difficult to change.

Half an hour later, a stretched limousine pulled up to the motel entrance, and the aging Wolverine stepped out.

However, when he saw Gabrielle standing at the entrance, his expression immediately changed.

"Mr. Logan, we need your help!"

"God damn it!"

Wolverine turned around directly and said impatiently:

"I can't help you, call another taxi."

"My name is Gabrielle Lopez…"

Gabrielle quickly stepped forward to stop Wolverine, who impatiently interrupted her introduction:

"Madam, I don't want to know your name."

"Someone is hunting us, we must leave here, go north, to Canada…"

Gabrielle wanted to explain her situation, but was again angrily interrupted by Wolverine:

"Enough, I don't want to know about your affairs, you've brought me enough trouble.

The people chasing you found me yesterday, I don't want any trouble!"

After the Westchester incident, he had been hiding Professor X, who was sometimes lucid and sometimes senile, and finally settled down near the border.

He just wanted to earn good money now, then buy a boat and take Professor to live at sea.

When Professor died, he would be free to commit suicide.

So he didn't want anyone or anything to disrupt his plans.

However, just as he reached out to push away Gabrielle, who was blocking his way, and prepared to drive off, a figure suddenly flashed in front of him.

"Hello, my name is Goku, can we duel?"

Little Goku looked at the strong but aged man in front of him, and bowed very politely.

He heard Aunt Gabrielle call this man Logan, and knew he was the powerful friend Aunt Gabrielle spoke of.

He was also the Wolverine from the comic books Laura showed him, who always defeated his enemies with ease.

He thought that the other party must be a master like Master Roshi Grandpa.

If he could spar with such a master, it would definitely greatly improve his own strength.

"Duel? I don't have time to play make-believe with you, bub."

"Bub? My name is Son Goku!"

Wolverine's mouth twitched. He reached out to grab little Goku and carry him aside, but found his hands were held by little Goku, and no matter how much force he exerted, he couldn't move an inch…
